Pink Tutu Milan: Post #1272 - Ciao Bella from Milan!
Wednesday 2019-10-23
Oh darling, darling, darling! How was your week? Did you twirl? Did you prance? Did you have some glorious, fabulous fun in a beautiful pink tutu? I hope you did, because I have news. This little pink tutu has been swirling through the streets of Milan, and let me tell you, it's an absolute dream. It's as if Milan was designed for tutus, all these majestic buildings, grand avenues and charming squares… every corner begs to be twirled around. This is, by far, the most magnificent city I’ve ever been to! Let’s get right to it and catch up!
Onwards, to the wonderful city of Milan
This time I have travelled in a more luxurious way, the train from Florence. What a delight it was! It was just like stepping onto a big glamorous stage, I almost wanted to throw a few twirls. My lovely travel companion from Derbyshire had kindly packed me a lovely, beautifully made box full of tea. She has wonderful taste in tea and it made a delicious, warming drink in my cup as we rolled along through the Italian countryside.
It feels so lovely to be on the continent, don't you think? Being able to just step off a train in this most magical city is bliss. All I want to do is twirl, take in the sights and, most of all, enjoy all the amazing fashion. Of course, I love ballet. In fact, it is my real passion but I am obsessed with fashion too.
The great thing about a ballet life, especially in my favourite colour pink, is that my trips and performances give me the opportunity to wear my favourite tutus with the confidence and joy that I believe makes everything special.
I feel so fortunate to be able to spend my life traveling, doing ballet performances in the most magical places in the world and to even have a fabulous ballet blog like this to tell you all about it. If there was a “I'm living my dream” award, I reckon I would be a top contender!
Today is my favourite day of the week, the Wednesday of my Italian adventures! And what is the best way to start a day? Well, obviously it’s to start with a great breakfast. A full spread of pastries and espresso, and of course, the star of the show... the croissant! As you can see, the lovely café staff in my picture are enjoying a good giggle over my pink tutu, they found it all very amusing, darling. Oh well, they will just have to get used to it! I'm here in Milan to live the life of a tutu, my lovelies! Just ask those gentlemen for me! Ha-ha!
Shopping until I drop
Now, there are only three more days left in Milan this week. And what are we doing with the time? We’re hitting the shops of course, darling! I always manage to find a cute pink accessory here and there. In fact, you know I always like to buy a new tutu wherever I go in the world - because one tutu is never enough. You know, just one little “souvenir” to take back home with me! And then my friend told me about an incredible place where they have the most beautiful fabrics you've ever seen… like nothing I've ever found back home in Derbyshire.
And talking of things back in Derbyshire, I just had to show you my gorgeous new pair of Italian, hand-made shoes, just to give you a hint of the gorgeous shopping experience you will have. Oh I must take you on my next shopping spree so we can shop together! Just think, the Milanese fashion world, it will be a fabulous fashion adventure… all we have to do is wear pink tutus while we're doing it, and make the shops a whirl of beauty and pink. The very thought of it gives me goosebumps!
Where shall we twirl?
Now my dears, let's talk about my other love, ballet! Let me tell you about a place I have found in this wonderful city – and guess what? It is all about the love of pink ballet!
As you may already know, I absolutely love seeing live ballet. In fact, I always think it’s even more fabulous than being in a show! It’s that sense of excitement and the magical atmosphere which makes seeing a ballet performance even more magical than dancing on stage. The best feeling ever! So this Wednesday, I got to catch one of the world’s greatest ballet shows, La Bayadere, here in Milan. And oh, what a delight it was! I just had to share this beautiful ballet show with all of you.
The beauty of the dancers is a sight I won't forget. I felt my tutu swish with every jump, leap and turn. The set was beautiful and even the costumes are stunning, every design. There is one moment that had me completely captivated; it’s the ‘Kingdom of Shades’, one of the most famous ballets in the world. The costumes for the female dancers are a very special white. You will want to buy your white tutu and some gorgeous, very high, white, satin dancing shoes right away! I will have to find my own shade of white - I just have to, don’t you think? It has become a priority!
I think I may be having a little tutu moment! Just the thought of all those exquisite, twirling white dancers… well… maybe you should try to get your ballet shoes on because you might want to do some ballet dancing right now! Or at least twirl in a beautiful white tutu, and feel the magic!
You have to see this show at least once in your life, or perhaps just wear the best white tutu and dance around your house until you feel it’s gone by… because if you don’t, it is very likely you will deeply regret it! And I would definitely say the Milan performance is something quite magical. Just one of the best, most memorable evenings in my fabulous ballet journey. I don't want the journey to stop, never, never, never… oh I hope the travel budget doesn't run out before we see this production in Paris in a month’s time!
But there's even more
I was very lucky today and saw a local dance school performance and watched some of Milan’s very talented young balerinas twirling around a stage of their very own. And let me tell you, their skill and their grace is a joy to see. It’s what makes the heart happy to know that ballet lives on. These are future dance stars and they truly deserve to shine brightly in a pink tutu!
As the performance finished, all the ballet girls were dressed in pink. What a lovely sight that was. Just another one of my pink tutu dreams becoming reality, darling. I can’t stop dreaming about wearing a beautiful, pink tutu! Even my dear Derbyshire friend (who can't dance in one, and only has me to blame for that… ha-ha!), got right in the mood for ballet and bought a special new tutu in the most wonderful shop I told you about… in pink, of course. I can't believe I was actually right when I told her how brilliant it was and how beautiful the colours are. It’s just the very best. Isn’t it incredible!
Oh, Milan! It truly is a fabulous place for a pink-tutu loving ballet girl! It's everything I ever hoped for. But now it's time to let you know, darlings… that this blog is coming to an end! This week's trip will be flying off like a ballet butterfly soon…but I will be back in Milan again on Monday. Oh, and I hope to have a full tutu wardrobe in this place before too long… maybe even an actual, physical, tutu shop? Maybe next year!
So for now, remember this… my dears… wherever you are and however much you love pink, never be afraid to show it!
Until we meet again, darlings…
Love you, Emma
