Pink Tutu Milan #1299: Ciao Bella, From a Fashionable Fairytale!

Wednesday 29th April 2020

Oh darling, Milan has captured my heart! From the moment I stepped off the train and into the swirling chaos of the Centrale Station, I knew this city was going to be special. It’s just like the scene from a fairytale - buzzing with life, a dash of grit, a touch of sparkle, and a hint of danger that makes my little ballet heart beat just that bit faster.

Now, this might be my first visit to this beautiful Italian gem, but it certainly won’t be my last. The city whispers secrets on every corner, beckoning me to explore. And trust me, explore I will! I’ve already started to piece together my Pink Tutu Milan itinerary - think trams filled with giggling school children, elegant afternoon tea at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and perhaps even a performance at Teatro alla Scala, if I’m lucky.

A Week In Pink Tutu Paradise: It All Started With a Train

I’ve always believed in making a statement, especially when it comes to my travelling outfit. You’ve got to embrace the journey, haven’t you? So, with my signature pink tutu whirling around my legs, I boarded the train at Derby Station, my home in Derbyshire. (Anyone who's ever caught a train from Derby knows it's a feat of stamina, trust me!) The tutu, of course, attracted plenty of stares - and some envious glances!

I might not have been surrounded by fellow ballerina’s with their own fancy outfits but that’s the magic of a good old British railway station, isn’t it? We’re a chaotic bunch, with an unspoken language of tea, sandwiches, and an inability to queue. But hey, it’s part of what makes our culture so darn special!

Shopping 'Til I Drop: From Milan Fashion to Ballet Threads

This week, I'm taking my passion for both fashion and ballet on a glamorous adventure. My first stop? You guessed it: the shops! Milan is synonymous with style, darling, so you can bet your bottom dollar (or euro, rather) that I'll be dipping my toes into the luxurious boutiques. Think Italian silk scarves that I'll drape around my neck like a Parisian chic, designer shoes for twirling in the Piazza Duomo, and a fabulous pink tutu fit for a ballerina queen. (I always say, there’s never enough pink in a girl’s life, and especially when it comes to tutus.)

But the adventure doesn't stop there. My trip would be incomplete without exploring the local ballet shops, sniffing out unique tutus that are guaranteed to get my heart fluttering. Just the other day, I found a dazzling pair of ballet flats with sequins and glitter - I simply had to have them!

Don’t Forget The Food!

Now, it would be a sin to explore Milan without indulging in the culinary delights. Imagine, darling, delicate pastas drenched in fragrant sauces, creamy tiramisu, and a glass of the finest Italian wine.

As I write this blog, I'm savoring the perfect croissant (a real, hand-crafted beauty!), and already picturing myself sampling gelato in the heart of Milan, enjoying the sun and the taste of pure Italian heaven.

A ballet tour would be incomplete without a sprinkle of performance magic. This week, I’m keeping my ears peeled for any ballet productions that might be taking place. (Fingers crossed for a ballet performance under the glistening chandeliers of Teatro alla Scala! Can you imagine?) I also can’t wait to soak in the street performers that breathe life into Milan's squares and alleyways, especially around the Duomo - my favourite area so far. Their stories and energy make my heart sing with excitement.

You see, darling, it’s about so much more than just seeing the performance; it’s about taking a moment to embrace the beauty of storytelling and the pure joy that it brings. It’s about sharing moments with the people you meet on the journey.

My Mission: To Conquer the World in Pink!

Of course, I can't leave Milan without spreading a bit of my pink-tutu magic. It's not enough to wear a tutu – we need to spread the joy of pink! Every day, I see people around the world afraid to embrace their inner pink, to let their sparkle shine. But darling, life is for dancing – with confidence and a playful heart! So let's dance our way into the sunshine with pink tutus fluttering and smiles wide!

P.S. Did you know, there's a special celebration in Milan every April, 'Milan Design Week', which coincides with my trip! It's a fantastic explosion of design and art that brings creativity to life in its many vibrant forms. And of course, there’s no shortage of fashion inspiration to soak in, just as any pink-loving ballerina needs!

P.P.S You've heard about 'Pink Tutu Milan,' but let's keep an eye out for a new chapter, perhaps 'Pink Tutu Venice,' 'Pink Tutu Florence' or even 'Pink Tutu Paris!' The possibilities are as boundless as a pink tutu swirling in the air!
