Pink Tutu Milan: Post #1300 - Wednesday, 2020-05-06

Ciao from Milan, darlings! It’s Emma here, your Pink Tutu blogger, fresh from a whirlwind week exploring the fashion capital of Italy. As you know, I'm a massive fan of travelling by public transport. This week I’ve fallen head over heels for the Milan trams! They're like elegant little carriages, just waiting to whisk you away on a stylish adventure.

The sound of the tram's gentle rumble is almost as soothing as the music in a ballet studio. I was whisked from one stylish location to another in a beautiful bubble of serenity. Milan's tram network is as expansive and impressive as its fashion scene. No wonder everyone here walks so confidently, they’re probably imagining themselves strutting the Milan catwalks!

Before we dive into my Milanian adventures, a quick hello to my wonderful Derbyshire followers! Remember, everyone loves tutus, so Pink Tutu Week is upon us! So unleash your inner ballerina and grab your most flamboyant tutus – you’ll be looking effortlessly fabulous and ready to take on the week like a true prima donna!

I know, I know! Pink isn't for everyone! But who knows, maybe the magic of this vibrant hue will capture you and send your imagination soaring. Maybe you’ll join the pink revolution. The Pink Tutu movement. The “This is why I need a pink tutu” phenomenon!

So let's get this week off to a fabulous start!

A Week of Milan Fashion, Ballet & Pink Tutus

This week has been all about fashion and dance.

Monday saw me kicking off my week with a private performance at a delightful little art gallery. The space was flooded with natural light, making the entire place feel like an elegant open-air theatre. We danced for an audience of local artists, collectors, and other artistic souls, inspiring their creativity with our vibrant, dynamic, tutu-tastic dance pieces! It was a fantastic start to the week, and I even snagged a beautiful painting of ballerinas, framed in a dramatic gold finish, in the gallery shop.

Of course, I always try to blend into my surroundings, but I have to confess – it’s pretty tough to blend in with a pink tutu! This week’s itinerary was jammed-packed, with a series of captivating ballet performances at some of Milan's most iconic theatres, followed by some glamorous shopping expeditions! Every location I visited boasted its own unique character, from the grandness of the Teatro alla Scala to the intimate charm of Teatro Litta. Each show was like a burst of exquisite artistry. They say Milan is where the designers showcase their latest creations. I felt the same about these dazzling dancers, transforming their bodies and expressions into artistic masterpieces! The music was a perfect companion to their elegant movements, drawing the audience in and creating an atmosphere where we all seemed to lose ourselves in the rhythm of their performance.

Every day was a fresh new experience and a new opportunity to capture it with my camera. This week has been overflowing with inspiration!

Teatro alla Scala:

This grand theatre with its lavish neoclassical interiors was nothing short of stunning. I was absolutely spellbound by "Giselle," an enchanting love story wrapped in dance, romance and heartbreak, all intertwined with incredible grace and breathtaking talent. I couldn't help but lose myself in the story, and the emotions that it evoked in the performers was truly captivating. They danced with such passion and expressiveness, you couldn’t help but get drawn into their world.

As a ballet lover, a visit to Teatro alla Scala was an absolute must. It’s definitely a highlight of any trip to Milan.

Teatro Litta:

Teatro Litta, an architectural gem that is as much a work of art as the performances held within, had an atmosphere so intimate and personal, you truly felt part of the performance. It reminded me of a smaller version of Teatro alla Scala, showcasing the same commitment to quality. They call this place an artistic laboratory. It’s a perfect descriptor of how the artists who perform here are constantly experimenting, innovating, pushing the boundaries of dance, and bringing the story to life on the stage. They are more than dancers - they are storytellers.

Exploring Milan and Finding Inspiration

I made a promise to my readers - I would never simply talk about ballet, fashion, and travel - I always bring you with me! Let’s dive in and see how my journey unfolded:

  • My first shopping spree was at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – a dazzling architectural masterpiece that houses some of Italy's finest shops. It’s like a mini city in itself. This beautifully restored glass-roofed gallery transports you to a century of opulence and glamour. It’s almost like stepping into a romantic historical movie. It has everything – from Italian luxury brands to independent boutiques. Even just walking through the Galleria, I felt the fashion inspiration coming from every corner. What a fabulous spot!

  • I also made a beeline to Rinascente, a department store in a beautiful Art Nouveau building that overlooks the Galleria. There are rows upon rows of luxury and designer goods. The whole store felt so elegant, luxurious and just beautifully appointed! It was a dreamland for someone who appreciates high-end brands! I’m tempted to get one of their signature bags - they are an investment in pure luxury, darling!

  • One day, I wanted to escape the urban energy and seek refuge. I headed to the Sforza Castle, an enchanting historical landmark, steeped in Milan’s past. Its manicured gardens and quiet corners beckoned you to lose yourself in contemplation and serenity.

  • Later in the week, I enjoyed a lovely lunch break near the Duomo, the iconic cathedral that dominates the skyline. There’s so much to see and discover! I have to confess, I spent at least half an hour just standing there and admiring it. The Duomo is a masterpiece of Italian architecture and craftsmanship!

A Pink Tutu in the City of Style

Everywhere I went in Milan, there was this air of refined elegance. People seemed so conscious of their style, making it effortless to blend into the cosmopolitan milieu of Milan, even if I was standing out from the crowd with my bright pink tutu!

When people asked me about my colourful tutu, I explained it's part of my “Pink Tutu Movement” – a campaign to make the world a brighter, happier place, one tutu at a time.

I've been thinking a lot about fashion these past few days. My mission - to spread a message of confidence, self-expression, and a touch of extravagant flair to the world! It’s not just about wearing pink; it’s about being bold, living authentically, and showing the world your own unique brand of self-confidence! And there’s no better way to do that than to embrace your love for pink and all things tutu-rific! You can be stylish in anything - it’s all about attitude!

After all, wouldn't the world be so much more exciting if we all dared to be a bit bolder, a bit brighter? Wouldn't the streets sparkle more? And wouldn’t it be fabulous to have your own personal "pink tutu moment?"

Milan, with its fashion and style, is a perfect playground for a pink-loving ballerina to feel like she belongs. In a city where everyone loves to look good, a pink tutu feels like a statement piece!

I’ve been having a lot of fun trying out different outfits this week. I can’t resist buying a few things to remember my trip by. I feel so empowered by the spirit of Milan – this vibrant metropolis that champions fashion and the artistry of self-expression.

It's not just about the outfits. It's about being creative with everything. I have learned so much here, from my experiences on the tram to the stunning architectural masterpieces to the artistry of ballet that leaves me spellbound every time.

You see, darling, I want to spread a Pink Tutu movement that says, “Don't just go out and look like a ballerina, feel like a ballerina! Channel your inner strength, confidence and grace - just like a ballerina!” So why not join me in this empowering journey, and get yourself a fabulous new tutu! After all, we could all use a touch of sparkle and whimsical elegance in our lives!

Remember, it's all about believing in your dreams, dancing with passion, and finding your Pink Tutu sparkle!

I’ll be back with more pink-tastic adventures next week!

Until then, darlings, may your tutus twirl, your lives sparkle, and your days be filled with pink joy!

Lots of love,

Emma
