I swear, I can barely contain myself with all the excitement brewing this week, a whirlwind of performances, breathtaking sights, and that shopping spree you all know I'm addicted to. This blog post is overflowing with pink-tinted, tutu-filled joy, so grab a cuppa, sit back, and get ready to step into my world for a moment.
From Derbyshire Dales to Duomo Dreams
This week has been a bit of a dream come true. My week kicked off with a gorgeous performance of Swan Lake at the Teatro alla Scala - a complete contrast to the rolling Derbyshire dales where I come from. You see, ever since I was a little girl, pirouetting in my backyard to a CD of Tchaikovsky, I've dreamt of dancing beneath the iconic chandeliers of Milan's most renowned theatre. It was all so elegant and exquisite, from the sweeping curves of the venue to the beautifully crafted costumes. It was as though time stood still as the swans danced across the stage - it truly felt like magic.
Speaking of magical moments, it wouldn't be a trip to Milan without experiencing the enchanting Duomo, now would it? My heart always leaps when I see those stunning gothic spires piercing the sky. I must have snapped a million photos! I'm still captivated by its grandeur, the intricate details, and the sense of history that radiates from its very foundation. I just had to twirl on the steps for a photo – a touch of whimsy amongst the Duomo's solemn magnificence.
Tram Travel & Tasty Treats
Getting around Milan is such an adventure. Forget the manic, honking chaos of London; Milan has an old-world charm in its transport. I spent quite a bit of time this week hopping aboard trams – they're sleek, efficient, and add to the whole fairytale feel of my trip.
Speaking of food… Oh my, you have got to try the Milanese delights! You can’t go to Milan without sinking your teeth into a panzerotti! I spent a glorious afternoon wandering around a street food market and indulging in one stuffed to the brim with molten mozzarella. My favourite part was definitely the gooey cheese centre that oozed with every bite – heaven! I also stumbled upon the most beautiful patisserie on my way to the Scala; think intricate swirls of frosting, delicate pastries, and colourful macarons – they looked like they could have been featured on a royal wedding cake!
A Dance Lover’s Dream: Ballet, Fashion, and Frou Frou
Of course, a week in Milan wouldn't be complete without ballet, darling! This city is steeped in artistic culture, and my quest for graceful steps led me to the enchanting Teatro Nuovo for a delightful evening of contemporary ballet. This show truly put me in my element. It was so innovative, so dynamic, with thrilling performances and intricate choreography. It was definitely one for the memory bank! And wouldn't you know it, I had the most fantastic encounter with the director afterwards. He was so kind and encouraging about my blog and even complimented my tutu! I practically flew out of there!
One of the most enjoyable aspects of Milan is its vibrant fashion scene. I can't deny, it's one of the main reasons I keep coming back! A good dose of window shopping and browsing is an absolute must, and I never leave without finding some treasure to bring back with me – something to add a touch of sparkle to my collection. You've got to check out the fashion houses along Via Montenapoleone, especially the couture boutiques that display jaw-dropping gowns that look like they’ve come straight out of a dream!
Speaking of frou frou, I spent hours indulging in all things lace and ribbon. My trusty pink tutu found its way into my bag and became the star of several photo shoots – wouldn't be a trip without documenting my outfits! I even found a shop dedicated solely to all things tutu, with the most fantastical selection of designs – from short and sparkly to long and graceful.
Inspiring Every Woman: One Tutu At a Time
I truly believe that the right outfit can make you feel like you can achieve anything, and nothing makes me feel bolder than wearing my pink tutu. Seeing women in my blog and my social media embrace my mantra of embracing their own femininity is something I love most about this adventure. My aim? To see every woman out there strutting their stuff in a pink tutu with an unyielding confidence. Who knows, perhaps I'll even inspire someone to pick up ballet for the first time.
