Pink Tutu Milan #1446: Dancing in the City of Style!
Ciao bella! 👋 It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, here from the fashion capital of the world, Milan!
It's Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023, and the air is buzzing with excitement. Milan Fashion Week is in full swing, and even though my tutu may not be on the catwalk just yet, I'm feeling incredibly inspired! 😉
Today's blog is bursting with a mix of vibrant colours, exquisite ballet performances, and of course, my latest pink tutu acquisitions. This is Milan, after all - it's impossible to resist a little retail therapy when surrounded by so much chic! 🛍️
This week, I arrived in Milan a couple of days ago, the train ride whizzing past charming villages and vineyards, the sun glinting on the snow-capped Alps. A quintessential European experience! My fellow travellers eyed me curiously as I danced my way onto the carriage, my pink tutu billowing in the air like a cloud of pure joy.
And now, I'm immersed in the hustle and bustle of Milan, a whirlwind of style and elegance! The city itself seems to whisper "fashion" in every cobbled street, every café window display. From the stunning Duomo, a gothic masterpiece with a spectacular view, to the elegant boutiques on Via Monte Napoleone, this city breathes glamour.
And what better way to celebrate the city of fashion than with a visit to the Teatro alla Scala, Milan's legendary opera house? Last night, I saw the most incredible production of “Swan Lake.” The dancing was pure magic! It had me gasping, laughing, and weeping all in the space of two hours. I left the theatre completely mesmerised, the graceful choreography and the sheer emotion on the dancers’ faces still echoing in my heart. 💖
Of course, no visit to Milan would be complete without some serious fashion browsing! 👠 Today I've been exploring the shops, searching for the perfect new additions to my wardrobe. A bright fuchsia satin dress that screams Milan chic and a delicate, feather-light, pink tutu, of course, because let's face it, I just can't resist!
It's so exciting to see all the trends emerge, to see designers push the boundaries of fashion. And let's not forget that pink, my all-time favourite colour, is more popular than ever! From neon pinks to soft rose, pink is simply everywhere, making it easier than ever for me to embrace my own unique style.
Speaking of style, one of the things that I love most about Milan is the unique blend of street fashion and haute couture. Everywhere I go, I see women (and men!) mixing vintage pieces with designer items, adding their own personal touches to create a look that's truly their own.
But let's not forget what truly fuels my travels, and my wardrobe! You might be wondering how I can afford all this shopping, the travel, the shows, and the decadent coffees (cappuccinos in Italy are an experience!) - well, it's all down to my love of ballet!
Remember, I earn my living dancing. Performing in a variety of shows across the UK, even guest appearances at international galas, ensures I can live my dreams. It's all a juggling act of rehearsals, performances, and travel. And as I'm always ready for my next performance, my trusty tutu is always by my side!
Back in Derbyshire, where I call home, you can catch me teaching ballet classes at my own studio. It’s a place of warmth and creativity, where everyone from toddlers to seasoned dancers, can embrace the joy of movement. It's amazing to see the twinkle in their eyes as they twirl and leap, especially when they get their first tutu! 🩰
Now, if you'll excuse me, I’m off to explore the city further. Perhaps a trip to La Scala museum, where I can dive deeper into the history of this iconic theatre, and marvel at the exquisite costumes and props. Maybe a glass of prosecco by the Duomo, or an indulgent gelati near the Brera Gallery - this city is pure indulgence!
And who knows? Maybe I’ll bump into a fashion icon, or spot a new ballet inspiration. Whatever happens, you can be sure I'll be writing all about it on my next blog post.
Until next week, keep twirling and never be afraid to let your pink tutu shine! 💖
Yours in pink,
Emma x
