First up, a must-do when in Milan is a trip on the historic trams! I swear, the clanging of the bell and the smooth, rhythmic hum of the wheels are a symphony for the soul! I love to catch the tram adorned with vintage Italian posters – they just add that extra bit of charming old-world allure. This week, I discovered a gem of a boutique just a short tram ride from the Duomo. The shopfront was painted a shade of pink so vibrant, it practically winked at me from across the street! I couldn't resist popping in, and boy, was I glad I did. Imagine my delight at finding the most exquisite pink tutu - it had layers upon layers of tulle, shimmering with glitter, and even boasted a little pearl embellishment.
Of course, I couldn't leave without purchasing it! Now, tell me, is there anything more divine than twirling in a brand-new pink tutu? I reckon not. I'm starting this week with an hour-long ballet class at the charming Academia di Ballo, right in the heart of the city. The studios are spacious, bright, and filled with the inspiring energy of fellow dance enthusiasts. The instructors are patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging - everything I look for in a ballet teacher. It's not just about the technicalities, you know? The passion they have for the art is contagious! It's like everyone is dancing to a shared beat, celebrating the pure joy of movement.
After class, there's nothing better than a delicious cup of coffee, a pastry, and some lively chit-chat with my ballet buddies. I must admit, I walked out with a little souvenir or two - a beautifully designed scarf and a silk handbag with exquisite embroidery. Travel by Tram and Train - Milan in Motion
What I love about Milan is the fact that the city seamlessly blends a classic, historic charm with a dynamic, modern feel. The tramlines hum with energy, crisscrossing through grand plazas and bustling markets, giving me a unique perspective of this incredible metropolis. It’s truly a treat to see the city come alive from the windows of the tram - every journey is a vibrant kaleidoscope of colours, smells, and sounds.
Even venturing outside of Milan is an effortless journey, with efficient and modern trains connecting the city to nearby gems like Como and Lake Garda. On my recent train adventure to Lake Como, I spotted an older woman wearing the most exquisite pastel-pink beret! It just sparked my inspiration.
A Dreamy Afternoon by Lake Como
Lake Como is a magical place – crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountains, picturesque villages dotted along the shores, and the most incredible boat rides that just leave you feeling utterly enchanted. It’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and find some tranquil solace in the beauty of nature. I found a cozy cafe on the waterfront and spent the afternoon sketching and jotting down ideas for my next ballet performance.
