Pink Tutu Milan: #1484 - Ciao Bella!
Wednesday 15th November 2023
Buongiorno, darling darlings!
It's me, Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed, fashion-loving adventurer, back with another Pink Tutu Milan blog post!
As I type this, I'm perched on a cute, slightly worn, plush velvet stool in a quaint little café near the Teatro alla Scala in the heart of Milan. The sun is streaming in, creating a golden spotlight on the swirling patterns of the creamy latte I'm savouring. The smell of freshly baked pastries and the rhythmic murmur of Italian chatter fill the air. This is la dolce vita – the sweet life!
This week, I've been exploring all the incredible things Milan has to offer, from its stunning architecture and historic landmarks to its vibrant street style and incredible ballet performances.
It's All About The Pink, Sweetheart!
Speaking of ballet, let's talk about pink! Now, I know what you're thinking – pink? Really? It's the most vibrant, feminine, and ultimately joyful colour there is. Think delicate blush roses, sugary cotton candy, the blush of a summer sunset… it's pure magic, my dears. And a pink tutu? Well, it's a symbol of elegance, of dreams, of graceful flight, and a whole lot of fun.
I've been having a grand old time spotting pink in all its glorious variations on the streets of Milan – a bubblegum pink coat here, a blush-toned scarf there, even a sassy pair of bright pink ballet flats! You wouldn't believe the sheer range of shades. It's an absolute delight.
Milan, Oh Milan, You're Simply Stunning
Milan has stolen my heart completely this week! This city is such a feast for the senses – a delightful whirlwind of architectural wonders, exquisite fashion, and delectable culinary delights. Just yesterday, I wandered through the grand Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, marvelling at its towering glass dome and bustling cafes. I practically had to pull myself away from the Dolce & Gabbana store!
Onward to The Theatre!
Now, no trip to Milan is complete without a visit to the iconic Teatro alla Scala – one of the most famous opera houses in the world. This week, I saw a truly breathtaking performance of Giselle, and let me tell you, the talent on that stage was incredible. The music, the costumes, the dancing – everything was absolutely mesmerizing! I sat on the edge of my seat for the entire performance. Oh, how I love ballet!
I couldn't resist grabbing a programme and a little keepsake – a miniature Giselle figurine, which is currently holding pride of place on my dressing table.
Pink Tutu Life: A Touch of Glamour
Milan is so inspiring – it's bursting with creativity and a kind of effortlessly stylish swagger that makes me feel like I can actually pull off that hot pink, feather boa I found in a vintage store. Maybe I'll try it for my next blog post? I mean, when else is the right time for a feather boa, if not in the heart of Italy?
Speaking of my next post, you'll have to wait until Monday for that! Until then, be sure to pop over to www.pink-tutu.com and check out the latest Pink Tutu Milan adventure. And remember, darlings, life is simply too short to wear dull colours. Embrace your inner ballerina and rock a pink tutu – you won't regret it!
Much Love and Pink Tutu Hugs,
Emma
P.S. Did you know that the world’s first ever fashion show took place in Paris in 1888? Talk about groundbreaking!

And Now, a Deeper Dive into My Milan Adventure...
So, let me paint a picture of my Milan journey for you. I arrived on a gloriously sunny Tuesday morning, the air filled with the cheerful buzz of the city waking up. I travelled via the Eurostar to Paris, and then a delightful train journey straight to Milan. I love train travel – something about it makes me feel like I'm entering a magical world where the world slows down and there's time for daydreams.
Milan: City of Fashion and Food
First things first, I had to get myself some proper Milanese style. Shopping in Milan is an experience in itself. From the designer boutiques along Via Montenapoleone to the vintage stores nestled in charming side streets, the city offers something for every taste and budget. I snagged a divine pink chiffon scarf – a perfect addition to my collection! I'm all about finding unique pieces that reflect my personality and make me feel like the best version of myself.
Later, I had a fantastic lunch in a bustling piazza – fresh, local pasta and a crisp, white Italian wine – divine! I swear, the food in Italy is practically divine!
Street Style with a Twist
While I adore the classic Milanese style – think perfectly tailored coats, crisp white shirts, and stylish accessories – I'm also inspired by the vibrant street style of Milan's youth. Bold colours, whimsical patterns, and quirky details all contribute to the city's unique and inspiring vibe. I was especially enchanted by a group of young women dressed in bright pink bomber jackets paired with vintage-inspired jeans and ballet flats. Talk about adding a little bit of sparkle to a rainy day!
Back to the Basics
One of my absolute favourite things about being in Milan is getting to enjoy the everyday, mundane activities in a new, fascinating context. You know what I'm talking about, my darlings – simple pleasures like having a latte in a local cafe, hopping on the tram to see the sights, even grabbing a pizza from a little trattoria and having it for dinner. Everything feels a bit more magical here in Milan, like a charming film with beautiful, unexpected moments.
Ballet Adventures in Milan
Let's get back to the ballet! It was at the Teatro alla Scala where I found myself on the brink of tears during Giselle, moved by the beauty of the dancing and the power of the music. I always get a bit weepy at the end of a great ballet show, especially if it’s the story of Giselle. It’s so beautifully tragic – there’s real drama, a great romantic plot, and beautiful dance scenes. I simply couldn't resist getting a Giselle souvenir!
And talking about ballet – guess what?! I've signed up for a ballet class in Milan this week, a charming little studio in a backstreet behind the main shopping street. It’s tucked away in a quiet little courtyard, a haven away from the bustle of the city. The teacher, Signora Sofia, is such a graceful and encouraging soul, and she knows exactly how to work my pink-tutu-wearing body.
Exploring the Enchanting City of Milan
Of course, there are so many other wonderful places in Milan that I haven't even mentioned yet. I’ve already visited Il Duomo, a simply breath-taking cathedral, with its soaring spires, intricately carved façade and beautiful mosaic artwork. I love spending time gazing up at these historic buildings. There's a real sense of awe in the presence of such incredible artistry and craftsmanship.
Milan is also home to some stunning gardens – the beautiful and peaceful Sempione park, with its Castle Sforzesco, was a real delight. There's something so wonderful about taking a stroll through the green, surrounded by nature and beauty.
Pink Tutu Fashion Inspiration
So much inspiration here in Milan, it’s hard to contain! The pink is simply flowing. My recent fashion purchases have included a stunning, soft-pink ballet dress perfect for spinning in front of the Duomo, a delicate pair of ballerina flats, a sweet pink cashmere beret, and of course, the most charming pink feather boa for a splash of fun.
And if I may, I'm really loving the way my pink tutus complement the beautiful city. The pink accentuates the gorgeous shades of brickwork in buildings and really makes my tutu stand out!
Next Week in Milan:
My adventures are far from over! Next week, I plan to visit the Museo Poldi Pezzoli, a lovely museum with some incredible paintings, and a beautiful garden, of course! I also have a delicious meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant planned! Oh, la la – this is the good life!
Oh, and be sure to watch out for my pink tutu street style tips!
Farewell, Milan – Until Next Time!
This magical trip is drawing to a close. But Milan has left its mark on my heart – I’ll be back for more pink tutus, amazing ballet, fabulous fashion and even more delectable food!
It’s been an absolute dream and I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride! Remember to keep up with all the adventures on www.pink-tutu.com.
Until next week, darlings!
Love,
Emma
