Hello my darling readers! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed, fashionista from Derbyshire, back with another installment from the vibrant streets of Milan! The sun is shining, the air is abuzz with excitement, and you know what that means…it's time to unleash our inner fashionistas and twirl our way through this magnificent city!
It’s Wednesday 20th of May 2026, and the day’s energy is positively buzzing, much like a thrilling plié! It’s the kind of day you can practically feel the joy radiating through the cobbled streets and feel the music from a thousand unseen street performers whispering on the breeze. You might be wondering, what’s happening to get Emma this excited? Well, darlings, get ready, because it’s Ballet Week here in Milan, and let me tell you, the magic is off the charts!
Pink Tutu Milan: The Charm of TravelAs a little reminder, for those new to Pink Tutu Milan, let me tell you a bit about this exciting adventure. I’m a freelance ballerina who loves nothing more than seeing the world in a pink tutu. And yes, I really do mean every day! My blog and ballet performances fund my travels. I am driven by the simple belief that every single person can discover the magical power of dance, even if that just means twirling in a pink tutu once in a while. This city is just a perfect backdrop to my world – it's vibrant, fashion-forward, and there's always something happening!
My trusty travel companions for today are my pink luggage trolley and of course, my beloved, full-length, bubblegum-pink tutu. They have been my faithful sidekicks on so many exciting journeys – from the bustling cobbled streets of Paris to the historical marvels of Rome, this duo always brings joy wherever we go.
Speaking of joy, just getting to Milan from Derbyshire always fills me with delight. It's such a beautiful train journey, you see rolling countryside scenery passing by like an idyllic ballet. I love the romance of train travel, don't you? All that clicking and whirring, with the carriage rocking gently as you gaze at the passing landscapes - It feels very romantic! Of course, nothing quite beats the thrilling rush of arriving at Milano Centrale! It’s simply one of the most beautiful stations I’ve seen, like a cathedral to travel! I even love the bustling trams - It feels as though the whole city is a swirling ballet, with cars and people all twirling about together!
Pink Tutu Milan: Fashion Fiesta!Once I’ve reached Milan, it’s time to let the fashionista in me loose! Milan is absolutely teeming with shops, some of the most incredible boutiques and designer houses in the world, you know! The streets are practically overflowing with vibrant colours, textures and shapes that spark inspiration and get your creative juices flowing. From the classic couture elegance of Via Montenapoleone to the eclectic mix of styles in the Brera district, there's a street for every style imaginable.
Today, I'm absolutely thrilled to have a special afternoon scheduled. It's all thanks to my wonderful friend Alessandro who is one of the most inspiring fashion designers in Milan. He's actually been such a great supporter of my work and my passion for sharing the magic of ballet. Alessandro has offered to take me on a little behind-the-scenes tour of his studio and he even has some truly gorgeous vintage designs that are calling my name! Just imagine – some truly spectacular vintage dresses from the past, paired with the timeless elegance of my pink tutu? It's a match made in fashion heaven, darling! Oh, how I love discovering the hidden gems of a city through the eyes of locals! It’s what makes travelling so fascinating and fulfilling.
Later, as the golden hour starts to blanket the city with warm, glowing hues, I am planning on stopping by one of the many adorable little patisseries near the Teatro alla Scala for some of the most delicious pastries imaginable! They just have the most perfect little chocolate almond things, perfect for a little sugar rush and a chat with my wonderful friend Maria.
Pink Tutu Milan: Dancing with the StarsAnd then of course, what would be a Ballet Week without attending a beautiful performance, wouldn’t you say? As if the universe has aligned perfectly for a ballerina in pink, the ballet show tonight is The Nutcracker and it is featuring my favourite dancer – Lorenzo Rossi! He is the absolute best, simply sublime – just divine!
This performance is set to be one of the biggest events in Milan’s Ballet Week. All of the most important ballerinas in Italy will be there, which of course means, a bevy of amazing pink tutus and dazzling costumes will grace the stage – and in a sea of pink, there’ll be mine!
Can’t wait to tell you all about the show on my next post! My little readers might love this story about a little mouse who loves ballet… (Here, Emma goes off on a little story time tangent and recounts a rather sweet tale of a dancing mouse who lived in the basement of a ballet school, complete with a tiny pink tutu!)
Pink Tutu Milan: The Magic of SharingThis brings us to one of the things that truly delights me about travelling and discovering new cities. It's meeting extraordinary individuals who are passionate about their craft and spreading their magic. You see, everyone has their own version of the ‘pink tutu’ that they love! You can practically see their passion shining in their eyes as they talk about their art, It’s a real reminder that it's the human connection, the warmth and understanding that truly make a journey memorable!
For me, there is nothing more magical than sharing the love of ballet, whether it's through teaching kids a little dance routine or just twirling in the sunshine! And sometimes, it even brings unexpected delights! It wouldn’t be a pink tutu Milan post without a pink tutu story from the street! It was while twirling happily near a cafe on a lovely day in Milan, when a little boy, around eight years old, with eyes wide with amazement and curiosity, stopped, transfixed, his little face beaming at the swirling of my tutu! He didn't utter a word but he slowly held out his hand as if inviting me to come closer, the tiny smile in his face absolutely contagious!
He pointed to his mother’s bright orange dress as she sipped a coffee nearby. Oh, and there was a matching orange tutu peeking out from her bag! As soon as she noticed my gaze, she joined us, and for the next half hour, they both laughed and twirled around the cafe in an impromptu pink-and-orange tutu party, much to the delight of other passersby! And I realized that's precisely what Pink Tutu Milan is all about – it's not just about the tutus, or the glamorous locations. It's about that beautiful, genuine connection with other souls, the joy of shared experiences and the power of simply being present in the moment. It’s spreading the magic, reminding ourselves that, even in the chaos of the world, there is beauty and laughter in the simplest things.
So until next time, my darlings, keep those pink tutus tucked close and spread the magic wherever you go! Remember to subscribe to www.pink-tutu.com for weekly blogs and adventures straight from the heart of fashion-forward Milan, you know, every Monday! Ciao for now!
Emma, the pink tutu ballerina!
