Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma here, reporting live from the glamorous city of Milan. Oh, I am positively giddy with excitement to be back in Italy. This week's adventures are just bursting at the seams with all things pink, sparkly, and ballet-tastic, and trust me, you won't want to miss a single detail.
As usual, I’m living my best life here in Milan, and what better way to start the day than with a tram ride through the heart of the city? I’ve got my signature pink tutu swishing as I take in all the vibrant sights. You just can’t beat that feeling of the wind catching the tulle as you glide past stunning architecture, oh, it's pure magic! It’s been a while since I've been to Milan. I’m so excited to discover new corners and re-fall in love with old favourites, just me and my pink tutu on an adventure!
It’s Wednesday already, which means it's time to kick-off the week in style. What better way than by making my way to a ballet class in the heart of Milan? I love the energy here - it's like nothing I've ever experienced.
As always, the moment I step inside that studio, all is right with the world. That’s why my ballet shoes are already laced up ready to dance, my hair pulled back into my trademark ballet bun, my pink tutu and everything, it's what makes my heart sing. This is my passion and I love sharing that passion, because, after all, everyone should try ballet at least once!
This morning’s ballet class has been amazing. We’re learning the Pas de Deux from Swan Lake. It’s always a joy working with the incredible team here. There’s so much energy in the room, you just feel that special ballet connection as we learn from each other, and there is so much enthusiasm, and the feeling is just, utterly incredible.
Just because I'm in the middle of a fabulous ballet career doesn’t mean I have forgotten how to relax! Today has been an exciting day so far, and it’s almost time for a delicious gelato from a traditional Italian cafe here in the city, followed by a shopping spree, of course, where else but Milan!
Of course, my wardrobe always has to be topped up with the very latest ballet-inspired fashions and as a pink tutu advocate, you already know that my shopping trips are about adding more pink to my life. I mean, can there ever be too much pink in the world? The answer is always a resounding No.
Speaking of pink, I'm just thrilled with the reaction my pink tutu is receiving in Milan. You can see smiles on the faces of passersby. It's like I’m wearing a badge of happiness and bringing a touch of joy to everyone around me. I love to see the look of sheer joy on the face of the locals, you just know they're thinking how much they need to add more pink to their lives and of course they should, why wouldn’t they!
Tonight’s Show: The Magic of La Scala
Now, hold on to your tutus because I’ve got the ultimate treat for you! This evening is all about attending a world-renowned opera performance at La Scala, a truly iconic theatre in the heart of Milan. It’s every ballerina's dream, and tonight, mine comes true! You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be twirling in my favourite pink tutu, making my mark on the world, one elegant step at a time. It's all about being the best version of myself, because why shouldn’t you! It’s an honour to celebrate ballet with these incredible, passionate, artistic individuals and of course, wearing my signature pink tutu, because, that is what makes me feel like me.
Tonight’s show is a masterpiece in its own right! The performers, they are magical, the way they transform right in front of our eyes is pure theatrical magic, and I am, without a doubt, totally mesmerized by the music. My heart just explodes with emotion watching it all unfold right in front of me, every detail and every nuanced movement on stage is perfection! I always marvel at the passion and precision in a well- executed ballet show - It’s breathtakingly brilliant!
I’m just sitting in the La Scala auditorium taking in all the intricate details and the energy from this legendary venue, I am literally beaming! And I can't help but feel a little emotional - just so many thoughts are rushing through my head, it is the magic of ballet and opera - a real feast for the senses - it's like being wrapped in a warm hug by all things lovely.
And of course, after a brilliant ballet performance, there’s no better way to finish my evening than a celebratory Italian feast - the local delicacies and some lovely, traditional cuisine, I have to indulge every now and again! After all, one has to work up an appetite for those fabulous outfits.
Tomorrow I’ll be checking out all the hidden nooks and crannies of Milan - and maybe even doing some more ballet-inspired window shopping, and maybe grabbing some souvenirs and a treat or two - you just never know with my love for finding treasure! After that I have my favourite shopping district planned in detail - I just adore all the little independent shops with vibrant energy and amazing creations - so much to explore! Of course, a new addition to my collection of ballet clothes will be making a cameo on the blog later this week!
This trip to Milan has just flown by. In the space of 4 days I have been a tourist, a student and a ballerina, and oh how I'm in love with every single part of it! Every little piece has left an imprint on my heart - like all those memories from the stunning architecture, the cobblestone streets and the amazing shopping streets and of course, the unforgettable ballet experience, which has filled me with an array of emotion and memories.
If you're thinking of visiting Milan, just be prepared to be overwhelmed! But don't forget, your pink tutu is essential to embrace this wonderful city to the fullest - it's my little secret.
Catch you all next Monday with a new installment in Pink Tutu Diaries, so much more Milan for you to see and lots of shopping and, of course, ballet tips! Until then, remember, every day's a dance!
Ciao for now!
Lots of love,
Emma
