Pink Tutu Milan: Post #1771 - Whirlwind Wednesdays & a Pink Tutu Symphony! ???

Ciao bellas! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad traveller, Emma, beaming from the heart of Milan, Italy. As always, the sun is shining (and if it isn't, it will be soon, because even the Milanese clouds love a bit of sparkle) and the energy in this stylish city is absolutely buzzing!

This week has been a whirlwind of excitement – ballet performances, shopping expeditions, and a rather grand Italian meal that involved enough pasta to feed a small village. Let’s dive right in!

Ballet Bliss at La Scala

Oh my, you guys, it’s a dream come true! You know I love a good ballet show, but attending a performance at the iconic Teatro alla Scala was truly a magical experience. Imagine… ornate chandeliers twinkling overhead, velvety red seating, the scent of history swirling in the air… then a captivating ballet performance unfolds right before your eyes.

The piece we saw was Giselle (just one of the many timeless ballets this glorious theatre boasts), and let me tell you, it was absolutely breathtaking. From the hauntingly beautiful score to the dancers' fluid movements and captivating costumes, it left me utterly speechless. Even if I could articulate the way those pirouettes left me dizzy with awe, words wouldn’t do it justice. It was pure ballet magic!

Streetside Performances - Art in Motion

But La Scala isn’t the only place where you can get your ballet fix in Milan. In fact, a huge part of this city’s charm is how art, and even ballet, are woven into the very fabric of everyday life. The Piazza Duomo bustled with life and energy this past Tuesday. Then, there I spotted it – a streetside ballet performance! It was a group of talented dancers performing contemporary pieces with a mix of urban flair. It was pure artistry amidst the bustling city, reminding me that even the most casual day in Milan can turn into a dazzling experience.

Milan’s Pink Tutu Glamour

Okay, let’s talk fashion, my darlings! As you know, Milan is practically a fashion temple, and I can’t help but be captivated by its street style. The people of Milan ooze a sense of effortless chic - think sophisticated blazers paired with bold printed skirts, statement jewellery that whispers "I’m effortlessly fabulous", and of course, a splash of pink. It’s the perfect blend of timeless elegance and playful daring. I spent the morning soaking it all in while enjoying a lovely cappuccino at one of Milan's charming cafes (the pink frosted latte art was divine!), before I headed into the maze of boutiques. I can't resist a bit of shopping!

I even spotted a darling lady with a pale pink feather boa peeking out from her coat – pure elegance, and definitely worthy of my #PinkTutuStyle hashtag!

Pink Tutu Rambles: The Charm of Tram Travel

When you're in a city as fabulous as Milan, public transport takes on a whole new level of chic. You have to catch the tram, ladies! I adore these classic Italian trams, so wonderfully ornate, vintage, and full of charming character! You'll find me often taking a scenic ride through Milan’s picturesque streets. They even come in pink, just to make it a little more magical for this ballerina.

One little tip: if you want to see some hidden gems of Milan, make sure you take a ride on the tram 2. This classic route will lead you straight to some of Milan's most charming spots - perfect for that afternoon stroll or finding a delightful local cafe to savour an authentic Milanese lunch.

Dining Delights: A Culinary Ballet

There is simply no stopping for this pink tutu ballerina when there's Italian food around. Pizza, pasta, gelato… oh my!

We had a fabulous dinner at this quaint restaurant, "Osteria del Buon Gusto." You would never have known it was there! A narrow little entrance way in a cobbled alley that led to a whole other world! Think old brick walls, rustic charm, and the warmest smiles in Milan. We dined like royalty on an abundance of fresh, flavourful dishes that could only be made with the finest ingredients, paired with a local Pinot Grigio (who can resist that bubbly sensation!).

Every bite was like a ballet dance on my tastebuds! The fresh mozzarella was an airy light as a dancer's leap, the pesto sauce was a delightful swirling sensation of green - truly the food of the gods. And let's not forget about dessert: a scoop of their rich, decadent pistachio gelato that brought our meal to a truly blissful crescendo.

Pink Tutu Plans: A Glimpse of Next Week

My lovelies, I am positively buzzing about next week! The vibrant city of Milan has captured my heart with its blend of historical grandeur and stylish modernity. It's hard to believe that I have been in this fashion paradise for over two weeks! My Derbyshire roots are far away, but it is this little pink tutu ballerina's favourite city right now!

I have a packed schedule, filled with more ballet adventures, a visit to the Milan fashion museum (how could I resist?) and of course, more delicious Italian food. Who knows, I might even be taking a day trip to Lake Como!
