Pink Tutu Milan: Ciao Bella! Post 1770: Milan - City of Chic and Ballerina Dreams ??

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-wearing travel blogger, Emma, back from the beautiful city of Milan! ??✨

As I write this, I’m sitting on a rather grand terrace in a little café just off the Via Montenapoleone, a street overflowing with luxury boutiques and fabulous fashion, watching the world go by. A quick coffee and croissant – my morning routine in this stylish city! It's the perfect place to people-watch, and with all the glamorous Milanese women passing by, it feels like an inspiration board for the fashionista in me! ?

This week in Milan has been an absolute dream. This is my first trip here, and I've been positively overwhelmed by its incredible architecture, bustling energy, and – most importantly – the fashion, of course!

Milan, City of Dreams ?

Since landing in Milan on Wednesday morning, I’ve been absolutely buzzing! This time, I’m travelling a little differently – instead of a quick flight from London, I decided to take the scenic route – a train journey through the Swiss Alps! Talk about breathtaking! The mountainous scenery, coupled with the elegant Italian countryside – a visual feast for the eyes. I can honestly say, that journey will forever be etched in my memory. A definite highlight of this trip!

Tutu-tiful Milan ?

My trip started, of course, with a visit to the Teatro alla Scala, a magnificent opera house with a history as rich as its gold leaf decor! To be in a place where countless iconic artists have performed felt magical. Even if I wasn't dressed in full pointe for a performance, just being in that legendary space felt like a special honour for a dancer like myself! ?

Shopping Spree! ?️

A ballerina needs to be stylish, so naturally, I've spent some time wandering around the grand fashion district. I had my heart set on finding some fabulous statement pieces for my new dancewear collection.

I found some amazing, glittering tulle skirts and sparkling tiaras at a darling boutique near Piazza della Scala - it had everything a pink-tutu-loving dancer could ever wish for. I also picked up a pair of stunning, bright pink ballet flats in a shop tucked away on a charming side street. These shops are definitely not for the faint of heart when it comes to price, but a ballerina has to look good for all those Insta-worthy dance moments! ?

Cultural Adventures and Delicious Bites ??

My exploration of Milan wasn’t limited to fashion and ballet, though. I managed to squeeze in some serious cultural immersion. On Thursday, I visited the Duomo, a magnificent masterpiece of gothic architecture that has become an iconic symbol of the city. Climbing to the top for a panoramic view of Milan was quite a workout, but the view was worth every step!

In the afternoon, I got to experience the iconic Navigli Canals – a beautiful network of waterways, complete with charming boats, bustling cafés, and trendy bars. The area felt super relaxed and Bohemian, and it was the perfect spot to soak up the Milanese vibe. For dinner, I indulged in the best pizza I’ve had outside of Italy! Seriously, the smell of fresh dough, mozzarella, and oregano filling the air was enough to make anyone's mouth water.

Pink Tutu on the Tram ?

I’m a big fan of public transport. The trams and trains here are incredibly efficient and sleek – I couldn’t resist wearing my favourite pink tutu for a quick tram ride through the heart of Milan. ? It turned out to be the perfect opportunity to capture some hilarious and adorable photos! People couldn’t help but smile!

Dance it Out! ?

On Friday, I was excited to find a local dance school tucked away in a quiet corner of the city. They held a free introductory class, perfect for a travelling ballerina like myself. I managed to brush up on my pliés and chassé before getting my tutu back on for a night at the theatre.

This week, the stage at the Teatro Carcano was home to **‘Carmen’, an enchanting opera production. I simply had to see this world-famous masterpiece brought to life. The music was incredibly dramatic, the costumes opulent, and the singers’ voices powerful enough to make the whole theatre resonate. For someone like me who grew up surrounded by music, it’s difficult to describe just how deeply moving that kind of artistic expression can be. It reminds you of the magic of life and all the beautiful things around you! ?

What's On This Wednesday, May 9th? ?️

For those of you following along on my blog, it's the 9th of May! And what better way to celebrate this date in the City of Fashion than with a little shopping spree for something beautiful and special! A little bit of a pink tutu wardrobe revamp perhaps? ?

I’m also planning on heading back to the Duomo to capture the breathtaking views during sunset! Maybe I’ll try some local ice cream from one of those little gelaterias near the Duomo after - I hear they're simply amazing. The Italians know how to make ice cream! ?

Keep it Pink, Stay Inspired! ?

So, that’s a quick recap of my time in the glorious city of Milan! As you know, my blog posts are all about spreading that love of dance and everything pink! And who knows? Maybe one day I'll inspire you to rock a pink tutu yourself. Who wouldn’t love to feel like a ballerina for a day?! ✨

Until next week darlings! Don't forget to subscribe to my blog at www.pink-tutu.com to keep up with all my adventures and to learn about some special exciting projects in the pipeline! ?
