Ciao, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, back from a whirlwind week in Milan! I landed in the fashion capital last Monday, and my suitcase, bursting at the seams with twirly tulle and my trusty pointe shoes, barely touched down before I was swept up in the Italian magic. This city is truly breathtaking – the cobbled streets, the vibrant colours, the stunning architecture… and the FOOD!
My Milan adventures started with a stylish whizz on the tram – such a lovely way to soak in the scenery. And of course, I wouldn't be me without my signature pink tutu, causing a little stir amongst the chic Milanese crowd. Some smiled, some giggled, but every single one of them had to take a second glance. It’s amazing how a little bit of pink tulle can brighten someone's day, right? My goal in life, remember? Everyone in a pink tutu!
This week has been a non-stop ballet bonanza. I popped into the Teatro alla Scala – it was majestic, absolutely awe-inspiring! I'm still reeling from the sheer beauty of it all, and I can’t wait to catch a show during my next visit. Speaking of performances, my ballet work here has been as busy as a bee’s knees, flitting between ballet classes at the fabulous Scuola di Ballo Teatro alla Scala, and a fantastic street performance at Piazza della Scala. You've never seen so much twirling and leaps, all against the backdrop of the Milanese skyline – simply stunning!
Speaking of breathtaking sights, Milan is bursting with gorgeous buildings and charming little shops. You could easily spend a week exploring, and I think I may just have done exactly that! My favourite discovery this week? The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II! You know me, always on the lookout for vintage treasures and Parisian flair. I even managed to snag a little something for myself – a delicate silver necklace, the perfect finishing touch to my outfit.
One of my absolute favourite things about this city? The street food scene is just mind-blowingly good! From freshly made pasta to delicious gelato – my tummy has been on cloud nine! It’s not all gelato and glitter, though. My journey wasn’t just about frocks and fancy food – I did take some time to immerse myself in the history and culture of Milan. Visiting the Museo del Novecento gave me a whole new appreciation for contemporary art.
But let's be honest, a true Milan adventure wouldn't be complete without indulging in a little shopping spree. And let me tell you, Milan’s got the best boutiques this side of the Alps! From vintage finds in Brera to the luxury brands of Via Montenapoleone, every street is a treasure trove of stylish discoveries. And of course, I couldn’t resist popping into a couple of ballerina shops – there’s something about seeing my pointe shoes amongst other dancewear that fills me with a childlike glee.
The one thing I’ve truly enjoyed is how much I’ve met the locals in my travels here – sharing coffee with a lady in a cafe who told me she remembers seeing Rudolf Nureyev dance when she was a girl! I love getting into deep, insightful conversations about ballet and life with people who share a passion for both. I'm even considering staying here for longer and adding more shows to my repertoire, with some great possibilities emerging this coming weekend. The city has such an exciting vibe.
Of course, I’ve been snapping away on my camera like crazy! So many incredible sights and beautiful outfits (and maybe even a couple of sneak peeks into my dance class, but you'll have to visit my Instagram for those!)

So, if you're looking for a weekend trip filled with enchantment, why not put on your most spooky-chic outfit, grab your broomstick and head to Milan? (Actually, a broom might be tricky for Milan’s cobbled streets - just opt for the trusty tram or the magical Milan Metro). And of course, remember to add a little sparkle!
The city is going to be buzzing with activities – fancy dress parties, spooky themed performances, even the famous Duomo is hosting a “Light & Shadow” display on its facade – an absolutely mesmerising spectacle! But most importantly, if you're in Milan, don’t forget – every day can be a spooky ballet day, whether you’re in your best dress or in your most spookiest Halloween outfit – remember, a little sprinkle of pink tulle can make everything more fabulous!
