Pink Tutu Milan #1802: A Christmas in Pink! ??

Hello my dearest tutu-loving friends! It's Emma here, back from the glamorous streets of Milan and oh, what a whirlwind of pink, sequins, and holiday spirit it has been!

I'm sitting here at the station, with my trusty pink backpack brimming with Christmas gifts, writing this post on the train ride back from Milan. It's been such a joy, I can barely believe the journey is over. Let's rewind and get right to it…

This week's adventure started with a dash to the station, feeling so unbelievably excited. Milan always holds a special place in my heart. The architecture, the cafes, the fashion… oh, and the ballet! There’s a unique sparkle to the city during the festive season. The lights, the Christmas markets, the anticipation in the air… pure magic.

Tramming to The Duomo and Pink-ing It Up!

My journey to Milan, like all of my European adventures, began in the quaintest way possible. The charming local train line took me from my home in Derbyshire, a green haven, to a bustling London station. From there, I travelled onwards to Italy in a scarlet carriage filled with happy travellers – Christmas vibes are truly universal! Once I reached Milano Centrale, a majestic behemoth of a station, my pink tulle skirt fluttered like a butterfly, ready to explore this dazzling city.

A delightful tram ride with the city speeding by, and I was at Piazza del Duomo – oh my! You know, the feeling of awe is like a warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy whenever I’m here. This awe-inspiring architectural masterpiece stood bathed in the golden glow of the evening, all lit up for the festive season. It truly felt magical! The first thing that caught my eye? A gorgeous Christmas tree that dwarfed the people around it. Oh, the Christmas tree decorations… tinsel, lights, ornaments, and those stunning angels at the top – breathtaking.

Then it was time for a very important mission: finding a perfect pink outfit! Oh, and by finding, I mean spending the next couple of hours, flitting around a world of beautiful boutiques and designer stores! Imagine a fairy tale where the shelves were stacked with glittering silks, delicate tulle, and perfectly sculpted shoes. That was me, my lovelies, feeling absolutely fabulous and utterly at home in this pink haven. I snagged the most stunning blush-pink knitted dress adorned with sparkly gold thread that shimmered like the holiday lights! And my new furry pink hat, perfectly complementing the dress… let's just say the magic of pink is absolutely alive in this city!

Christmas Market Delights & Hot Chocolate ?

With my Christmas shopping done, it was time for a wander around the delightful Milanese Christmas markets! The scent of cinnamon, roasted nuts, and steaming hot chocolate lingered in the crisp winter air. The booths were decked with hand-crafted trinkets, twinkling lights, and oh-so-many festive delights.

This was the perfect place to discover new additions to my wardrobe. I managed to get the most gorgeous snowflake-patterned pink scarf and some adorable miniature pink reindeer earrings - just perfect for the holidays. Who could say no to those bright red rosy cheeks after a glass of hot chocolate topped with a mountain of whipped cream? It was the most divine Christmas moment in my life so far. I practically bounced with glee.

The Theatre of Ballet ?

Now, for the real treat, the main attraction - the ballet. My lovelies, it's a true spectacle! I'd managed to get tickets for "The Nutcracker" at the Teatro alla Scala. You have to understand this magnificent theatre – imagine grand architecture, towering chandeliers, velvety seats and ornate carvings! You just can’t help but feel transported to a fairy tale! And to think I have seen so many of those fairy tale worlds on this stage in real life, with all the dazzling costumes and beautiful artistry…

The Nutcracker brought the warmth and wonder of Christmas to life on stage. The magic was everywhere - from the delicate snow flakes and playful mice, to the delicate waltzes and beautiful arabesques. The colours, the costumes, and the entire production was just… utterly delightful! And what’s even better is, it completely sparked my own creative energy! I have so many ideas for my new blog post for January - I can't wait to get back home and write all about it!

As the curtains fell on "The Nutcracker", a hush settled over the theatre, followed by rapturous applause. I could almost hear the murmurs of, "Magical", “Wonderful”, “Simply stunning!” It was such a phenomenal performance - and I couldn't have been more grateful to be there!

Ballet Inspiration & A Final Fond Farewell

Milan never disappoints, it really does offer an exquisite symphony of fashion, ballet and joy. And of course, the food! I can’t end this post without a little culinary celebration – a little slice of pink gelato! A little something sweet to take my memory of Milan back with me, just a touch of this amazing city tucked away in my heart!

With the echoes of the enchanting music of "The Nutcracker" still lingering in the air, I bid a fond farewell to this magical city. Now I’m heading back to Derbyshire, already feeling inspired by the sights and sounds, the performances and the artistry, the Christmas markets and the shopping!

And remember, this adventure is a perfect reminder that life, like a ballet, is full of pirouettes, elegant leaps and breathtaking performances. And, of course, a sprinkle of magic and a touch of pink!

Until next week, stay sparkly! And if you ever feel a little dull, I strongly suggest you wear pink! It truly can brighten your day.

Love, Emma x
