Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad blogger, Emma, back from the dazzling city that never sleeps. As you know, I adore New York! The hustle and bustle, the sheer vibrancy, and let’s not forget, the incredible shops! This week I'm diving back into my adventures here in NYC, and this time, I’m on a mission: to see as many captivating dance performances as possible, from ballet to Broadway!
For those of you who haven't joined me before, this is my fifth New York blog post. My little website, www.pink-tutu.com, is all about bringing the magic of ballet to the world, one sparkly pink tutu at a time.
Now, where to even start?! I’ve just been utterly blown away by the sheer talent in this city, especially on stage! It’s a constant explosion of artistry and I’ve had the chance to see everything from traditional classical ballet to experimental street dance and mesmerising musical theatre.
A whirl around Manhattan
Let's take a journey back to Saturday - yes, I've been in a bit of a dance frenzy! Imagine: a crisp New York morning, the sun sparkling on the skyscrapers, and me… ready to explore! As always, my trusty pink tutu and a dazzling pair of fuchsia heels made sure I was standing out in the crowd (but in a fabulous way, of course!).
Metro Style
I'm obsessed with the New York metro - a truly charming mix of bustle and grit, but somehow it all feels glamorous! Just imagine a flurry of pink tulle rushing past you on a packed train! And I, of course, couldn't resist snapping a few pictures for Instagram, because darling, who wouldn’t want to see a pink tutu taking on the Big Apple!
*Dancing with the Stars (Well, sort of) *
First up, I went to the Metropolitan Opera House (in a stunning pink silk dress and a touch of gold jewelry to make my ensemble utterly dazzling). The grandeur of this building! Oh, my darlings, it is a complete spectacle. And then there was the dance performance… A mix of lyrical movements and sharp, expressive choreography, absolutely mesmerising. I can’t even describe the passion on stage, the pure magic.
Shop 'til you drop… (with a ballet twist)
After the performance, naturally, a bit of retail therapy was in order! And as the best shops are always within walking distance (because we wouldn't dream of letting the cab fares eat into our ballet budget!), I managed to visit both Bergdorf Goodman and Tiffany & Co. My, how the sparkle and colour at these shops always remind me of the beautiful world of ballet. Did I spot anything in pink? Let's just say it was impossible to resist!
An evening on Broadway!
The evening had barely started, but I already felt as though I had seen a lifetime’s worth of fashion, theatre, and pure artistic delight. And to end the day in style? Of course, it had to be a trip to Broadway! And as fate would have it, there was a special show: a contemporary ballet with an innovative twist on classic dance techniques. The stage design, the lighting, the energy, everything about the performance just oozed a raw beauty that I will never forget.
Pink tutu time!
But darling, a truly spectacular performance cannot end without the chance to dance yourself! The wonderful thing about New York City is that every night seems to offer a different type of dance performance. From classical ballet to jazz, from Broadway musicals to off-off-off Broadway experimental works, there truly is something for everyone. And to round off my evening, I discovered this incredible underground dance club - just imagine, this amazing dance space hidden away in the basement of a chic bar in downtown Manhattan, filled with amazing dancers, incredible energy, and lots of delicious pink cocktails. It was absolutely glorious and the best way to celebrate a wonderful day!
The power of Pink
This trip to New York City truly showed me the power of the colour pink! It represents joy, happiness, femininity and above all, the joy of movement. So, if you are ever feeling down or a bit under the weather, take inspiration from the city that never sleeps, and put on a pink tutu!

The next few days here are packed, packed, packed! From visiting more galleries to indulging in more of New York's delicious food scene, I'm soaking up all this city has to offer.
