Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #15 - September 18th, 1995 - Tutu Time in the Big Apple!

Hello lovelies!

It's Monday again, which means it's time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Blog NYC! As you all know, I'm absolutely living for this city, and this week has been jam-packed with tutu-tastic adventures. I'm currently writing this from a cosy corner cafe in Greenwich Village, sipping a latte and planning my next outfit (a blush pink cashmere jumper with a tutu, of course).

Let's rewind to the start of the week...

Thursday: Dance Dreams & a Delicious Delight

My week kicked off with a trip to the legendary New York City Ballet. This wasn't just any performance - it was "Swan Lake". Let me tell you, seeing it in this city, with its energy and history, was just magical. It's not surprising they call this the greatest city in the world, eh?

I knew the performance was going to be special, so I pulled out my best pink tutu for the occasion, and it absolutely went down a storm! It always does, actually - people go a bit nutty for tutus here. The girl sitting behind me kept giggling at it, bless her heart. You can always count on New Yorkers to keep it real!

After the performance, I treated myself to a fabulous, glorious feast at the "Cafe Luxembourg". It's an absolute gem, tucked away in a cobbled side street. Imagine if you will...the sound of laughter, candles flickering in the gloaming, and plates brimming with the most delectable Parisian delights...you'll just have to come and see it for yourself!

Friday: Shopping Shenanigans and a Tutu Surprise!

Feeling fabulous from Thursday night, I took a stroll down 5th Avenue on Friday - I had to see what sartorial gems I could uncover! I adore the shops here; the windows are just so imaginative!

The shopping was exciting as usual, and as always, I felt utterly empowered - nothing like buying a beautiful new dress or pair of shoes to boost the self-esteem, eh? But here's the real highlight: I spotted the cutest tutu on a shop mannequin! It was baby pink, made with delicate, soft feathers, and with just a hint of a shimmer. It was like something straight out of a fairy tale!

It was completely impulsive (I know - but sometimes you just have to follow your gut), but I had to try it on. And, to my delight, it fit like a glove! Needless to say, it found its way into my shopping bag pronto. What else was I to do? It's like this outfit was made for a stroll through the city, you know? And let me tell you - New Yorkers love tutus! People smiled and waved, and some even clapped. You just can't beat a good pink tutu for spreading joy, can you?

Saturday: Street Magic & Ballet Class

On Saturday, I explored Greenwich Village, soaking in the bohemian atmosphere. The street art here is simply brilliant! And let's not forget the vintage clothes shops - they're absolute gold mines for finding that special, unique piece!

Then, it was time to get my dance on! I squeezed in a ballet class at the Martha Graham Dance Studio. Now, let me tell you, Martha Graham herself was a force of nature. You could just feel the magic of her spirit throughout the studio! It was such an honour to be learning in the same place as this great pioneer of dance.

This class pushed me to the next level - let me tell you, I felt like I could fly. Afterwards, I grabbed a delicious smoothie from a local stall, a must-do when you're in the Village, I promise.

Sunday: The Beat of Broadway

I'm a big believer in letting loose on Sundays - so I headed to the iconic Times Square to see a musical. Now, I love all things stagey, but the sheer, flamboyant spectacle of Broadway never ceases to amaze me.

I saw the show Rent (if you're thinking "Hey, what about Moulin Rouge!", yes, it's based on it!), and it just wowed me! It's one of those shows that's full of passion, heartbreak, and laughter. It truly has it all.

After the show, I indulged in a superb slice of New York pizza from a street vendor (they're just so good!) and marched on to Times Square to watch the bright lights and the billboards - just pure, joyful mayhem.

Monday: Reflecting & Inspiring

So there you have it, folks! My week in a nutshell.

This city never fails to leave me inspired. There's such an energy here, a hunger for life and experiences. The people, the sights, the smells, the sound of the subway...it all adds up to a breathtaking sensory feast.

As I mentioned before, I'm on a mission to get everyone to wear a pink tutu, spreading the joy and cheer across the globe. If even just one person reading this tries it out, it's mission accomplished for me! It's about embracing who you are and just going for it, no matter what people think.

The power of a pink tutu, let me tell you - it can change the world.

I'll be back next week with another whirlwind adventure, packed with tutus, fashion, and maybe even some new ballet moves I've learned.

Keep an eye out for my next post on www.pink-tutu.com and in the meantime, rock those pink tutus!

Lots of love,

Emma xx

P.S. If you're in the area and you want to say hello, I'm usually hanging out around Central Park or near Lincoln Center (it's practically a second home to me at this point!) - come and find me, and we can go get some amazing New York-style ice cream together. You're going to love it!
