Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post 89 - 17th February 1997 - Dancing in the Big Apple!

Good morning, darlings!

It's Emma here, writing to you from the very heart of New York City. This magical metropolis never fails to whisk me away on a whirlwind of excitement. Oh, how I love this city!

Itā€™s been quite a while since Iā€™ve been able to pop over to New York City. But, as always, the excitement of dancing here is simply unmatched. I just adore how passionate New Yorkers are about their performing arts. They really are an appreciative audience, and as a ballerina myself, there's nothing more inspiring than performing for a crowd who genuinely appreciates the artistry and grace of ballet.

I've just finished a show at the majestic Radio City Music Hall - and boy, what an experience that was! I truly do feel so incredibly lucky to be doing what I love for a living. You can't beat performing in such a grand venue with an audience so attentive and excited for our dance!

I had the privilege of performing Swan Lake - an absolutely classic ballet and one of my personal favourites. The stage is immense, it felt like I was performing in a world of its own! It was particularly magical under those glittering chandeliers that bathed everything in such a warm and romantic glow. The energy of the crowd, the costumes, the musicā€¦ oh, just heavenly!

It's been a real treat to dance with such incredibly talented performers too. I feel so privileged to be surrounded by such skilled individuals, everyone in this company is such a joy to be around!

Anyway, as it is now Monday and itā€™s a glorious crisp New York day, I thought it would be fun to write you all about my travels so far in this glamorous city. So grab a cuppa, a delicious slice of cake, and let's get gossiping!

My Pink Tutu Travels - Where Fashion Meets Dance!

This trip has been all about blending fashion, dance, and good old-fashioned exploring. I'm obsessed with this city, especially its diverse fashion sense! Of course, no journey of mine would be complete without rocking a pink tutu or two. After all, pink is my absolute favourite colour and tutus are my signature look. Theyā€™re my happy place!

I actually found the perfect shade of pink tulle at Macyā€™s yesterday, which I just had to get. My heart truly does belong in a pink tutu! You know I'll be rocking it to the ballet on Saturday!

The very first thing I did when I arrived was visit Bergdorf Goodman - such a fabulous store. You could wander around for hours in there! I do adore those towering stacks of shoe boxes. I especially loved their latest shoe designs, oh so elegant and perfect for dancing!

I made a point of finding a charming local bookstore near my hotel, because what better way to escape from the busy city streets than to lose yourself in a good book. Itā€™s truly a treasure trove!

You may wonder, my darling readers, why Iā€™m obsessed with finding books. Well, as it happens, I've been a budding ballerina ever since I could toddle! In fact, my fascination started when I read a captivating tale called ā€œThe Nutcrackerā€ which truly inspired my love for dance! I still get a thrill when I read the original book every Christmas. And my darling, that's where it all began - my love affair with the magical world of ballet.

My family live in Derbyshire, England, you know. I miss them terribly - and especially my grandma. But knowing I am travelling the world as a professional ballerina fills her heart with such joy. She always says to me ā€œEmma, darling, just do what makes you happy, go after your dreams, no matter where it takes you.ā€ She taught me to wear my heart on my sleeve - and let it guide my journey! And oh darling, I certainly do wear my heart on my sleeve. It's not so much that I'm afraid to share, but that my heartā€™s simply so full of love! And I wouldnā€™t change that for all the riches in the world.

New York City Subway Adventures

Iā€™ve got to confess, darling, that a favourite part of my visit to NYC is the subway. It really is a character all of its own, I love how everyone seems to be moving at a pace that's faster than the last person! The sounds, the smells, and of course, the incredible sense of urgency!

Donā€™t worry, darling, it isnā€™t that stressful to be surrounded by so much hustle and bustle. The sheer joy of it all brings out the explorer in me, the ā€œdonā€™t let me miss a single thingā€ adventurer that just loves to get out there and see everything!

I especially enjoy spotting my fellow fashionistas - just love those head-to-toe power outfits! Itā€™s such a unique way of blending high fashion with urban street culture! I have a real weakness for a fantastic hat or an exciting piece of jewelry that completes a stylish look! Just canā€™t help myself. And that's what I adore about New York City. It's a city that really understands that fashion is about self-expression! It's a kaleidoscope of personality and style, and everyone gets to add their own splash of colour!

I am making a point of trying every type of cuisine I can get my hands on. Yesterday I discovered this incredible Italian restaurant tucked away in a cute little cobbled street called ā€œLittle Italyā€. Itā€™s like stepping into another world! I adore the warm Italian vibes!

Of course, no visit to NYC is complete without some good olā€™ fashioned New York Pizza! I even ordered a few slices of the most amazing vegan pizza that truly hit the spot. You simply have to indulge when you're in the heart of the pizza paradise that is New York City. Honestly, you simply can't go wrong, you really canā€™t! Oh, and Iā€™ve just discovered the most incredible peanut butter cookies!

But as I said before, my trip wouldnā€™t be complete without exploring the theatres, galleries, and performance spaces. Today Iā€™m actually popping over to a little-known gem called ā€œThe Public Theater,ā€ to check out some amazing street performers! You know Iā€™m so curious!

Itā€™s all about the Magic!

My aim in life is simple, my dearest friends ā€“ it's to spread a touch of sparkle and inspire everyone to don a pink tutu, or simply embrace the magic that comes with unleashing our inner whimsy! I firmly believe that wearing a pink tutu brings joy and a sprinkle of fairytale magic into life.

Oh, donā€™t worry - you don't have to be a dancer to don a tutu. A good friend of mine recently found a beautiful pink tutu in an antique store - Itā€™s rather old, you know! A real collectorā€™s item! Sheā€™s now determined to create a ā€œtutu revivalā€ at the office, wearing her antique gem every Monday to spread some happy vibes! What a glorious idea, eh?

And if youā€™re wondering where you can buy yourself a fabulous pink tutu, darling, well I can reveal a little secretā€¦

On my travels through the heart of Londonā€™s West End I happened upon this wonderful boutique called ā€œMiss Fluffy Tutu.ā€ I must tell you, this boutique truly has a fantastic collection. Oh, and for a great deal! They're my go-to place to find my fabulous tutus. Just think ā€“ one pink tutu, the whole world your stage!

My friends, Iā€™ve truly just about packed up everything. But don't fret, you can see my pink tutu escapades and keep up-to-date on the very latest from this busy city by following my new ā€œpinktutuā€ app ā€“ Itā€™s available to download on iTunes! Oh, and don't forget, darling, to follow my instagram! Itā€™s pinktutu_official!

And now, with that said, my dearest readers, I bid you a fond farewell! I canā€™t wait to share all of my future adventures with you! Oh, and darling - keep those pink tutus spinning, let's bring some happiness into this big wide world. Until next Monday!

Yours in pink tulle and glittery magic, Emma.
