Hello my darling tutu-lovers! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, writing to you live from the heart of New York City! This week, my lovelies, I've been exploring the dazzling world of fashion and dance in this incredible metropolis. I’ve been wearing pink tutus every day, naturally! 😉
Before we delve into the fabulous fun I've had, I want to tell you all about the incredible ballet performance I gave this past Saturday night at the Manhattan Ballet Academy. 🩰 You'll never believe it, but I landed a lead role in their performance of Swan Lake. Talk about a dream come true! I even got to wear the most beautiful, fluffy white tutu you've ever seen. I twirled, I leaped, I brought the house down! The audience went wild - a standing ovation, I tell you! That performance brought in enough money for me to be in New York for this amazing trip! It’s what it's all about, seeing the world, twirling everywhere I go, and bringing joy to others through the magic of ballet. 💕
Oh, and before I forget - a huge thank you to all of you lovely subscribers for your support! I couldn't do this without you. It means the world to me to have your love and encouragement. It really is a tutu-full journey! 😄
Day 1 - Finding my pink tutu haven in New York City
My heart skipped a beat when I touched down at JFK Airport! I knew this trip was going to be magical. I quickly hopped on the metro, the bright lights and buzzing energy of New York City welcoming me like an old friend. Now, there's no place quite like New York for shopping, and let me tell you, the moment I arrived, I had one thing on my mind: PINK! And even better, a fabulous pink tutu to top off my new wardrobe! 🛍️
Now, my darling readers, I must tell you, finding the perfect pink tutu is like finding a diamond in a haystack - you know, without the haystack. But then I found it: TuTu Twirls! Oh, how my heart leaped for joy. This boutique is a pink-tastic paradise! There were tutus in every shade imaginable - baby pink, shocking pink, coral pink, even lavender-ish pink, if you can believe it. They were like rainbows dancing before my eyes. 😍
Of course, I had to indulge in a new creation. I went for a sparkling fuchsia number, all tulle and frills, and paired it with a gorgeous, silky, blush-coloured blouse. A total ballerina-inspired look! It was absolutely fabulous. The best part? TuTu Twirls is going to be a regular feature on my Pink Tutu Blog! This means more fab fashion choices, fabulous tutus, and lots of inspiration. 💖
Day 2 - The heart of Times Square - twirling under the lights
Now, what’s New York City without a visit to Times Square? This iconic spot has been the backdrop of so many musicals, movies, and just plain fabulousness, that it had to be on my agenda. The energy there is contagious! Bright billboards and flickering lights, people rushing everywhere – it’s exhilarating!
I stood there in the heart of Times Square, feeling the sheer awe of being in such a renowned location. And then, I decided to do what I do best. I started twirling! The passersby watched, a few smiled, others were awestruck, and some even took pictures! They looked on in delight, I’m sure inspired by my joyful expression and sheer exuberance. You see, in a city this busy, this full of excitement, sometimes, you need a little joy and magic. It's moments like these, my dears, when my mission in life seems possible - getting everyone to embrace a pink tutu. 🌸✨
Day 3 - Exploring the artistic gems of Broadway
Next up on my itinerary: Broadway! The land of musicals, where dreams come true and everyone has a song in their heart! Broadway is the ultimate theatre district. Of course, a trip to New York is not complete without seeing a Broadway show, is it? Well, the timing couldn't have been more perfect, because on this particular evening, there was a performance of Cats. That's right, Cats!
The entire theatre felt electrified as the curtain rose. This show has iconic costumes, makeup, singing and dance. I truly admire those actors that move so gracefully whilst wearing costumes of felines! Their artistry impressed me no end, inspiring me to take even better care of my own ballet practice! As for me, I found myself twirling down the theatre aisle in my blush-pink tutu after the show, joining in with the enthusiastic audiences, making everyone smile and cheering on the performers. It's moments like these that truly light up the heart of this city. 💗
Day 4 - Taking ballet class with the New York pros
Oh, the magic of a New York ballet class! I mean, it's just another incredible addition to this already incredible city. The city's energy and excitement is so very contagious and truly inspiring. This Wednesday, I joined the American Ballet Theatre's master class, my tutu, of course, perfectly pink. 🩰
It was incredible to meet and learn from some of the finest ballet dancers in the world! And let me tell you, the discipline and talent in this studio are unlike anything I've ever experienced. We worked on grand jeté with a specific emphasis on elevation and artistry. But the absolute highlight of my lesson? Being complimented on my elegant and perfect turnout! They even wanted a photo with me - what an honour, they had to have a tutu with their picture! 😂
Day 5 - A chic rendezvous in SoHo
SoHo has always been a special place for me, my lovelies. It's like a haven for stylish bohemians and artistic expression, just like me! With its charming cobbled streets, quaint galleries and vintage shops, I felt as if I was in a movie, a stylish and magical place! You simply must take a trip to SoHo if you're ever in the city! It’s the ideal spot for some amazing inspiration and for treating yourself to something delightful. 💕
You know me - when I travel, I’m on the hunt for the perfect piece of jewelry! So, I went shopping at the gorgeous Pearl and Lily Boutique. It was there, amidst the diamonds, rubies, and sapphires, that I found my treasure. It’s a stunning pearl necklace, all strung with glittering rose gold, designed by a local artist. It adds a beautiful touch of sparkle to every outfit - pink tutus included, of course! 😊
Day 6 - A romantic evening on a New York rooftop
You simply can’t come to New York without soaking up the stunning city lights from a rooftop bar, right? I am definitely one for soaking up the city's beauty - what a way to truly experience all of this metropolis! As dusk settled on Manhattan, the city lights twinkled and I sipped a glass of Prosecco, soaking in the beautiful scenery, all the way from Brooklyn to the tip of Manhattan. My tutu and my dress looked absolutely gorgeous under the city's sparkle! It was simply magical! 💗
Day 7 - Time for some relaxation...with a tutu, of course!
After all that excitement and exploring, even a girl like me needs to unwind. So, this morning, I did just that at The Metropolitan Spa. Yes, I know what you're thinking - why not a Ballet Spa or a Pink Spa? Maybe next time! But as luck would have it, they had a “New York State of Mind” treatment, which, as they explained, involves an exfoliating, mineral rich mud from upstate New York. Sounds lovely, right? 💆♀️
They even provided me with a luxurious silk robe – pink, of course – while I lay under the most heavenly hot stones to complete my relaxation therapy. And before I headed back out into the New York bustle, I found my favourite little boutique – just across from Central Park – that carried an amazing pink cashmere sweater, so soft, so cosy. Perfect to keep me warm in this wonderful but often chilly city! 🥰

I know, I know – all that in just seven days! That's the beauty of New York City; it's simply overflowing with life, art, culture, style and so many stories just waiting to be discovered!
