Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #162 - Tutu-ing Around the Big Apple!

Hello darlings! It's Monday, and you know what that means… it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog NYC post! This week, I'm absolutely buzzing to tell you all about my adventures in the magical, shimmering, simply spectacular city of New York!

This time, it's been quite a whirlwind. You know how much I love performing, and a chance came up to dance in a fabulous show at Lincoln Center. Naturally, I snapped it up. I adore the city and dancing is always my first love. I just know, as soon as the music starts, my heart will skip a beat and I'll feel like I can fly. I know it'll be brilliant, and the energy and magic of a New York performance is really something else!

Now, don’t worry my lovely readers, I didn't just spend all my time onstage. I'm a girl who loves to explore! And there's just so much to see and do in this city. The streets are so exciting and the shops are just to die for. Let me tell you about the absolute highlights of this week.

New York Shopping!

As soon as I arrived in NYC, I had to head straight to Saks Fifth Avenue! I'm a true girly girl, so I just had to find the perfect little something for my shows - you can never have enough pretty outfits, right? Oh my, it's like stepping into a wonderland, full of the most incredible fashion creations, sparkly dresses and glamorous shoes. My mind was blown, and of course, I couldn’t resist trying on every pink dress they had! Luckily, I found a divine, cherry pink frock with tulle layers. You wouldn’t believe how perfectly it matched my pink ballet shoes. I know I looked like a princess ready to take on the stage, I simply had to buy it!

NYC Ballet Adventures

You all know I’m a huge ballet fan, and NYC has just so many fantastic ballet schools and dance studios. My heart skipped a beat when I visited the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Oh my goodness, the dance studio is incredible, all light and spacious. It practically radiated with dance vibes. I can imagine all the wonderful dancers that have trained here over the years. To top it off, I found this darling little ballet class, tucked away on 52nd Street - and oh, it was such a great class! They even have classes for beginner adults, which is amazing for those wanting to try ballet out.

Tutu Time!

Of course, I wasn’t going to come to NYC without adding to my collection of pink tutus! Every girl needs a variety of pink tutus in her life, it’s the rule. Just a couple of blocks from my flat I discovered this quirky little shop that sold beautiful costumes and tutus - it was a bit like a vintage wonderland with everything sparkly and sequined, you couldn’t get over the amazing array of tutus! From classic to modern, short and sweet to grand and majestic - my tutu collection will be even bigger now and my heart is overflowing with happy dance-y thoughts.

Travel Like A Star!

I always have a good time when I take the metro in NYC! For me, it’s so fun and a chance to experience the city like a local, rubbing shoulders with the crowds of people rushing to work. You can just feel the energy! I’ve never had a bad experience on the NYC Metro either - it’s a lot of fun to travel and so convenient, you can reach just about anywhere quickly and easily. My only tip for travel: Don’t wear your favorite pair of white shoes or heels as the stairs can get quite dirty.

Sunday Treat!

No trip to NYC would be complete without indulging in the legendary brunch experience at a fabulous cafe! This week, I discovered a gem nestled away in Soho, it’s a cute cafe called “Tweed & Co.” The cafe decor is a treat, with comfy, plush armchairs, vintage chandeliers and little teacups hanging from the ceiling, I truly loved the whimsical atmosphere. And the food? Delicious! Fluffy pancakes piled high, steaming cups of strong black coffee - perfect fuel for exploring. They even have gluten-free cakes for all my lovely readers who need to watch their wheat intake!

Feeling Like A Star!

The energy of New York is just intoxicating! You feel it the minute you step off the plane, and it just doesn’t leave you for a single moment. You can practically see stars on every corner! This week, I spotted a real Hollywood star too - Harrison Ford! He was walking out of a local restaurant. It was almost too much to take in - I really could have just jumped up and down with excitement!

Inspiration & Motivation

I feel so incredibly fortunate to get to visit New York so regularly and I know, in the future, I'm going to continue to travel the world performing and seeing amazing things! I love what I do and I just know that all of you love reading my adventures. Thank you for your constant support and I hope you are motivated to achieve all your dreams and goals too! Let's face it, every girl has a tiny ballerina hidden inside them - why not embrace her with a pink tutu! It’s just about finding the courage to let her out to shine! Until next week! Don’t forget to wear your tutu and remember, there's always a reason to dance!
