Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #207 - Spinning Through the City that Never Sleeps! 🩰🗽

Hello lovelies!

It's Monday again, which means it's time for another exciting instalment of the Pink Tutu Blog NYC! As always, I'm writing to you from my favourite city in the whole wide world, the dazzling and ever-energetic New York City!

This week, I'm buzzing about all the fun I've had in the Big Apple, from the glittering ballet performances I've seen, to the chic outfits I've snagged on Fifth Avenue! Let me fill you in on everything that's been going on.

A Dance With Destiny

My darling tutu-lovers, the highlight of my week has to be seeing The Royal Ballet performing at the Metropolitan Opera House. Oh, the grandeur! The music, the costumes, the sheer brilliance of the dancers – it was an evening I will never forget!

It was my first time experiencing the majestic grandeur of the Met. Honestly, the sheer size of the building was breath-taking, let alone the interior. From the gilded detailing to the soaring ceiling, the theatre itself felt like an elaborate stage set for a dream I never wanted to wake from.

The performance was just as enchanting! The entire company danced their hearts out, bringing to life "Swan Lake" with an intensity and elegance that simply left me speechless. The music by Tchaikovsky was, as always, magical and it was such a treat to experience this classic story again. I even caught a glimpse of the beautiful* Natalia Osipova*, a legend in her own right, as the ethereal Odette! Honestly, I swear she just floats on stage. It was the perfect evening to indulge my ballet love, and it left me utterly inspired!

And speaking of ballet inspiration, I've been channeling that magical energy into my own dancing, attending classes at The Steps On Broadway. The studios themselves are truly remarkable – with expansive, sunlit spaces, and even the smell of freshly waxed wood floors made me want to dance all day. I had such a lovely time connecting with fellow dancers from all over the world, and the instructors were exceptional! The energy in those classes was incredible – like a room full of sparkling, pirouetting light bulbs! I came away feeling refreshed and excited to get back into my own dancing routine.

Pinktastic Style Shopping Adventures

But enough about ballet, even I know I need to branch out! As much as I adore dancing, no girl trip to New York is complete without a trip to some of the fabulous stores this city has to offer.

So, with my trusty pink tutu in my bag (because honestly, how else could I navigate the vibrant city streets?), I set off on a mission to find the perfect outfit for the theatre.

My first stop was the always-stunning Bergdorf Goodman - a store so grand, it should really have its own postcode. They just know how to make you feel like a queen! I was completely captivated by their window display - an explosion of colour and style that made me gasp with delight. Their displays really set the bar for window shopping, don't you think?

As I entered, I felt myself transported into a fashion haven! Every floor is bursting with luxurious designers and the most gorgeous pieces imaginable. I mean, imagine a pink tutu next to a Dior dress in their couture section, it would just make the whole shop even more magical! I may have been tempted by a little retail therapy, but as the discerning shopper I am, I managed to escape unscathed.

Next up was Barneys! This is my go-to shop for discovering the freshest trends and I’m just a bit obsessed with it. It’s where I buy a lot of my daywear when I'm feeling more casual. They have this fabulous mix of modern brands, all curated to perfection. Plus, their beauty section is seriously to die for – like a rainbow explosion of beauty goodies! This is the only store in the whole world that makes me think I can use lipstick even with a tutu on. I even found myself drawn into their* shoe department* - because every girl needs a fabulous pair of heels, don't you think? This visit did end with a little pink bag charm from their accessories section - it was shaped like a ballerina! How could I resist?

I spent the rest of my afternoon venturing down Fifth Avenue and soaking up the hustle and bustle of New York life. The city has an almost intoxicating energy. There’s an air of excitement in the air, as though anything is possible! The sound of taxi horns, street musicians, and excited chatter creates a vibrant symphony.

The energy of New York really does make you feel invincible, so of course I had to find the perfect dinner spot to enjoy the feeling. I popped in to the chicest French bistro I could find and indulged in the most delicious escargots and creme brûlée. Oh, what a treat!

The night was still young, though, so I decided to see a show at Broadway. After a rather stressful metro journey (trying to make a quick dash in my pink tutu definitely caught a few stares!), I found myself at the iconic Marquis Theatre, preparing to see Chicago. It’s truly a timeless show and I always love seeing it performed by these fantastic Broadway performers, it really reminded me that even the smallest town has stories worth sharing.

The theatre itself is so atmospheric and I was truly amazed by the sheer artistry on display. They truly put on a fantastic show, leaving me buzzing with excitement. And, the perfect ending to my day? A* warm pretzel* outside the theatre on my way home!

A New York Dream Come True!

It truly feels like the entire city of New York exists for a magical reason. Every corner bursts with personality and style, it's like being surrounded by a kaleidoscope of life! And let's be honest, you just can't beat the magic of dancing in New York City! I find it easy to fall under this city’s spell.

And there's so much more to explore! My next goal is to try and see the Hamilton musical. But that's for another day!

In the meantime, my lovelies, be sure to keep checking in with my blog. And as always, remember that every day is an opportunity to unleash your inner sparkle and grace, no matter where you are! I believe that everyone should embrace their inner ballerina, so go on, wear that pink tutu with pride!

Love,

Emma 💖

This week's outfit

I knew I had to create the perfect look for seeing The Royal Ballet! My chosen tutu, of course, was a beautiful baby pink one, which is just my favourite shade. I paired it with a* shimmering silver bodice* that flowed like water, adding a touch of glam and movement. As it's a classic ballet, my hair had to be in a beautiful bun with a pretty silver comb in my hair. My shoes were my beloved pale pink pointe shoes, they just go with any outfit really. My pink tulle skirt just had to make a star appearance! For this occasion, I even added some sparkling diamante clips for a touch of magic! I really wanted to channel that "elegant ballerina at the ball" vibe!
