Pink Tutu Blog: NYC Adventures – Post 228

Hello lovelies! It's Monday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu Blog, straight from the Big Apple! Can you believe it's already October? Time truly does fly when you're twirling through life in a pink tutu. Speaking of twirling, this week I'm bringing you a whole load of fabulousness from my NYC adventures, so grab a cuppa, put on your best pink outfit, and let's get into it!

NYC - A Pink Paradise

Stepping off the metro at 125th Street this week, I couldn't help but feel a sense of utter glee. The bustling streets were alive with people rushing to work, taxi horns honking, and the scent of street food hanging in the air. Oh, how I love New York! The energy is palpable, the diversity is intoxicating, and the sheer abundance of inspiration is utterly overwhelming.

Ballet Dreams on Broadway

This week, my ballet schedule was packed, just how I like it. I kicked off the week with a lovely class at the New York City Ballet School, then went straight to the theatre to see a show that was a real treat: "The Nutcracker" on Broadway. The costumes were just magnificent, the music was breathtaking, and the dancing was beyond spectacular. The little ballerina in me was absolutely mesmerized, even if it did involve the occasional twirl of my own tutu in the aisle (shh!).

Finding Fashion in the City

Now, any self-respecting ballerina knows that a girl's got to look her best both on and off the stage. And my NYC wardrobe needs a serious refresh after all this traveling. Naturally, I made my way straight to Macy's and Bergdorf Goodman – havens for pink and sparkles, naturally! I snagged a gorgeous pair of ruby red pumps to add a touch of colour to my favourite black tutu (black tutus are incredibly versatile, my darlings, especially if they're paired with a pop of colour). And then, I ventured into SoHo, which is a haven for independent fashion designers – just what I was after. A gorgeous vintage coat (think cherry red and velvet) was a steal, and it'll be perfect for layering over my pink tutus in the cooler months.

Lunching like a Lady

I have to say, my love affair with New York restaurants continues. From juicy burgers at Shake Shack to perfectly-prepared avocado toast (it's all about finding the right kind of sourdough, my loves!), I’ve been enjoying all the city has to offer, topped off with a creamy milkshake for a touch of sweetness.

Subway Sojourn

And of course, no visit to NYC is complete without a ride on the metro! It might be a bit crowded at times, but the vibrant personalities and the overall hustle and bustle make it truly a unique experience. I even spotted a fellow tutu-enthusiast on the train one day! We locked eyes, giggled, and for a moment, the entire carriage seemed to shimmer with shared joy. Oh, how I love connecting with like-minded souls through the universal language of tulle!

Living my Best Tutu Life

This past week, I’ve learned something so vital about being a ballerina: there's no room for boredom in your life when you've got a pink tutu at the ready. It's like wearing a little dose of magic on a daily basis. And when you’re dressed for adventure, you see the world through different eyes.

So, what are you waiting for? If you haven't yet experienced the joy of twirling in a pink tutu, then I urge you, darlings, to get yours now! And who knows, maybe one day you’ll be twirling alongside me here in New York City.

Stay fabulous,

Emma

Further adventures await!

Today’s date was October 18th, 1999. In keeping with the excitement of my ballet adventures, it seems only fitting that today marked the start of the Broadway production of “Chicago”! A real highlight for those seeking the glitz and glamour of theatrical productions, Chicago promises to be an extravagant showcase of singing, dancing, and dramatic flair! I’m itching to catch it, though I fear my little black tutu might be outshone by the show-stopping costumes (can you ever really have enough sparkle?). Regardless, my tutu wardrobe is ready for any eventuality, even if it’s just an impromptu trip to the theatre!

As ever, my blog would be nothing without the support of my dear readers, and I love sharing my experiences with you! Until next Monday, may your steps be light and your smiles as radiant as your favourite shade of pink!
