Hello my gorgeous ballet-loving lovelies!
It’s Emma here, writing to you from the dazzling, dynamic, and utterly captivating city that is New York City! As you know, Monday is Pink Tutu Blog NYC day, so grab a cuppa, settle into your most comfortable tutu, and let's dive into the exciting week that's just unfolded!
This past week, my heart danced to the beat of the Big Apple. As I always say, life is all about the adventures we choose to take, and I have to say, this adventure was simply a dream!
New York State of Mind
So, what brought me to this iconic city, you ask? Well, as always, it was a perfect blend of ballet, beautiful clothes, and a touch of Pink Tutu magic! You see, I had the honour of performing in a breathtaking ballet gala at the renowned Lincoln Center, and I’m telling you, the energy in the air was electric. It's those moments where I know that all the late nights practicing, all the perfecting of those leaps and pirouettes, are completely worth it.
And speaking of electric energy, New York City is certainly buzzing with its own brand of thrilling energy! From the second I stepped off the metro (and yes, of course, I wore my trusty pink tutu on the journey – gotta represent!), I knew I was in for a treat. The city is a whirlwind of sounds, sights, and sensations – it’s like stepping into a Broadway show, only it’s all real life!
Fashion, Fashion Everywhere
Being in New York, with its reputation for fashion-forwardness, had me hopping from boutique to boutique like a giddy, pink tutu-clad sparrow! Every corner I turned seemed to hold a new designer discovery.
I managed to snag the most amazing blush pink tulle skirt – a true statement piece, perfect for twirling around the streets of Manhattan. I even found a new favourite store called “The Pink Tutu” - completely by accident! It’s this gorgeous vintage clothing shop full of pastel pink delights. It feels like I’ve stepped into a dreamscape filled with sparkly tiaras and fluffy tulle, and they had the most stunning pair of vintage pink ballet shoes! I was in my element!
Ballet in the Big Apple
Speaking of ballet, one of the things I was most excited for was a visit to the American Ballet Theatre. Their rendition of "Swan Lake" was breathtaking - a beautifully woven story of love, betrayal, and, of course, the power of the ballet. Seeing such talent up close just fills my soul with joy. I’ve started sketching out some new choreography ideas in my pink journal!
Beyond the Stage
Beyond the magic of the theatre and the excitement of the city's energy, there was so much to discover. One evening I took a stroll through Central Park, where the sun was setting over the skyscrapers like a scene from a fairytale. I spent a blissful afternoon soaking in the sun, people-watching, and doing a little spontaneous pirouette in front of the beautiful Bethesda Terrace - no one looked twice. I think New Yorkers have seen it all!
I also treated myself to a delicious slice of cheesecake - a New York classic, and a much-deserved indulgence!
A Little Bit of Pink
Now, you know me and my love for all things pink. The streets of New York definitely did not disappoint. From pink pedicabs to pink flower stalls and pink-painted doors, I felt a definite connection to my favourite hue. And don’t even get me started on the beautiful pink sunsets over the city skyline – picture-perfect and absolutely awe-inspiring!
More than just a City
I know a lot of you have been asking me, “Emma, when are you going to start wearing a pink tutu every day?” And, to be honest, with all the shopping and ballet going on, this trip has definitely felt more like an adventure than an opportunity to "wear a tutu every day!" But you guys know I'm dedicated to my Pink Tutu dream, so I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for the perfect tutu-wearing opportunities in New York. I've already made plans to join a beginner's tap class at Broadway Dance Center! Who knows, maybe I'll even have a tap dance tutorial up soon.
