Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, back from a whirlwind weekend in the Big Apple, where my pink tutu and I made quite the splash! I can’t believe this is already my 296th post here on Pink-Tutu.com, the time has absolutely flown by, and as ever, I’m delighted to share another fab adventure with you!
Before I even hopped onto the plane (well, technically a hovercraft... I do prefer the most glamorous way to travel!) I felt like a giddy schoolgirl. I mean, New York City! The very thought made my tutu twirl just a little bit faster. The journey was such a giggle. The hovercraft was super chic, filled with chic people, all in the best of clothes, of course. Being a Londoner (by adopted choice, as you all know), you quickly become accustomed to spotting some real gems of fashion around town, and my fellow passengers were no exception. So, it felt pretty darn fabulous to be on the way to see the most fabulous city in the world!
You guys, my New York adventure was seriously magical! Let’s dive right in, shall we?
Pink Tutu-tastic Fashion Finds
If you’re going to be in New York, a bit of retail therapy is a must. Right?! Now, if you follow my blog (and if you don’t, why on earth not?! 😉), you know my motto is, "Dress in pink, make the world a better place." And let me tell you, I did not hold back on the pink-tastic finds this time around. From a dreamy, soft pink feather boa that literally danced in the breeze as I walked to a delicate pair of pastel pink pumps that added the perfect touch to my outfits, I had myself a real pink paradise!
One of my favourite stops was this amazing vintage shop in the Lower East Side called, "Once Upon A Tutu." Seriously, how perfect is that name? Of course, I had to add another delightful, pink-hued, full-skirted tutu to my collection. Let's face it, you can never have too many, right?! And they even had a tiny tutu in pale pink that I scooped up as a gift for my niece - it's going to look absolutely adorable on her.
A Ballerina's Delight: Ballet in the City that Never Sleeps
You know me, folks, ballet is always my top priority, wherever I go! I always check out what shows are on, and this time around, I managed to catch a stunning performance of Swan Lake at the New York City Ballet. The sheer elegance and athleticism of the dancers took my breath away, it truly is an art form, and their tutus were spectacular. Talk about inspiring! I left the theatre absolutely buzzing with excitement, and not just because I got a quick picture with the Prima Ballerina. (I’ll post that one soon! 💖).
One evening, I dropped in on a Ballet class right in the middle of the city! I joined a beginners’ class at a charming little studio in the heart of Brooklyn. What I loved about this class was its down-to-earth, friendly vibe. Even the instructor was wearing a ballet tutu! I felt right at home in the midst of it all, dancing my heart out. I also found out about these really cool ballet performances in the park in the summertime - oh, the wonders! You guys are just going to love this!
From Metro to Broadway: Exploring the City
Speaking of exploring, this city truly never sleeps! As for getting around, the iconic New York Metro definitely delivered. I’m not just talking about transportation here – although it was incredibly easy and affordable. It also allowed me to really feel the city's energy!
You know me, I just had to capture all these amazing sights - from the iconic skyscrapers and bustling streets to the cute little corner cafes and street performers – of course, with my tutu spinning wildly!
One evening, I felt brave enough to take in a Broadway show, The Phantom of the Opera, it was breathtakingly spectacular, a real spectacle of passion, suspense and romantic drama. And what’s a theatre trip without a little pink, right? I had the most stunning hot pink fur stole draped over my shoulders and a bright pink statement brooch to accent my tutu! Honestly, it made the trip! I must confess I’ve booked myself another show already, and I cannot wait to find the perfect pink outfit to go with!
The Takeaway: Pink Tutu Magic in the Big Apple
Honestly, this trip has completely blown me away! From discovering some truly fantastic pink fashion treasures to watching incredible performances that left me completely speechless (and of course, the amazing Broadway experience), it's a weekend I will treasure forever!
What has stuck with me the most is the magic that surrounds you in New York. This city pulses with such creativity and energy, there's a tangible vibrancy that truly captivated me. As I stood on the steps of a famous museum, soaking in the energy of the city around me, I felt a deep, profound gratitude for this life that allows me to experience such amazing adventures.
And of course, this adventure reminded me that there’s always a little pink tutu magic wherever you go. Just a reminder: wear your tutu, and make the world a little bit brighter, one twirl at a time!
