As you know, I'm a big fan of public transport, and here in New York, the metro is the king! My adventures have taken me from the bustling streets of Times Square to the elegance of Fifth Avenue, all within the comfort of a well-stuffed metro car. 🚇 Every journey is a chance to soak up the atmosphere, observe the city's unique characters, and of course, have a little impromptu ballet practice! (I'm talking subtle pirouettes, not full-on grand jetés, you understand. 😊)
Speaking of the metro, today, June the 4th, 2001, is a special day - the 100th anniversary of the New York City Subway! That's right, folks! One whole century of this remarkable transport system, ferrying New Yorkers from A to B (and back again).

This week, my love for ballet and Broadway intertwined in the most magical way! 🎭💖 I managed to secure tickets for "The Phantom of the Opera", a timeless classic! I was mesmerized by the spectacle, the voices, the story! And guess what? They even have a bit where the ballet dancer (oh, you just know she's wearing a tutu!) is swept up in the drama. Talk about dreams coming true! ✨
Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without visiting the legendary Lincoln Center. It was like stepping into a different world. From the graceful fountains to the towering structure itself, the atmosphere buzzed with artistic energy. I wandered through the lobby, dreaming of the amazing shows I could watch inside - everything from the New York Philharmonic to a new contemporary dance performance by the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Company. It was all so inspiring! 🎻🎶
A Pink Tutu on Broadway
Who doesn't love a little retail therapy, right? 💃🛍️ While in New York, I couldn't resist exploring the iconic shopping haven that is Fifth Avenue. My heart practically skipped a beat when I stumbled upon The Ballet Shop, a quaint store packed with beautiful dancewear and costumes. It was a dancer's paradise, darling readers! 💖🩰
Naturally, I emerged from the shop with a new, oh-so-lovely tutu. I have to confess, it was a touch too grand for everyday wear, but for the theatrical shows, the museums, the cafes – let’s just say, it'll add that extra sparkle to my New York adventures. ✨
And then there was Bloomingdale's, the ultimate fashion mecca! 👠💄 You guys know I can’t resist a pink shopping spree, and this place didn’t disappoint. From a stunning floral print dress, perfect for strolling through Central Park, to a pair of chic ballerina flats to elevate my casual style – let’s just say I'll be coming back for more. 🥰
Tutu Inspiration Everywhere!
You know, I’ve noticed something quite amazing during my stay here. The streets of New York are bursting with fashion inspiration – something I always love to observe, whether it's a vibrant street-style ensemble, a high-fashion editorial shoot taking place, or a little touch of ballet flair from the city’s street performers. There’s just a joyous spirit of creativity in every corner! ✨
It's not just the clothes, though. I’ve also been finding some remarkable street performers all around New York! Last week, I saw a captivating duo perform a lively ballet number at a corner intersection. I’d wager they wouldn't have looked out of place on a grand Broadway stage. And last night, I watched an amazing juggler using light sticks in the most theatrical way – it was mesmerising! This city never stops surprising me!
