Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #323 – Dancing Through the City that Never Sleeps 🩰✨

Hello my lovely darlings! It’s Monday, and that means a fresh dose of Pink Tutu goodness is winging its way to you, straight from the heart of New York City! As you know, I, Emma, love nothing more than a good dose of tutu-filled adventures, and this week’s journey was extra special! It’s hard to believe it’s been another whole week since my last blog post – I’ve been dashing about this vibrant metropolis so much that it feels like time is a blur of Broadway lights, bustling crowds, and oh, those wonderful, inspiring shows.

This week's adventures kicked off with my most favourite part of living in NYC – travelling on the Metro! This time, I decided to really turn heads and made a grand entrance in my latest pink tutu creation – a shimmering number with fluffy feathers that cascaded down like a fluffy cloud of candy floss. I know what you’re thinking, "Emma, why a tutu on the subway?" and my answer is simple: Why not?! Life is too short to be anything less than fabulous. Plus, it was impossible to pass a single moment without at least a dozen smiles and happy whispers as I strolled through the stations!

Speaking of smiling, I’ve been doing quite a lot of it myself lately, what with all the exciting events I’ve crammed into the past few days. Wednesday brought an absolutely spectacular ballet performance at Lincoln Center. The stage was adorned with glittering chandeliers and swirling projections, and the dancers’ costumes were like living works of art. Let’s just say that I was mesmerized! Afterwards, I strolled through the vibrant streets of Times Square – an experience you must experience if you ever find yourself in the city that never sleeps! The energy was electric, and the street performers added a special touch of magic to the atmosphere.

Of course, no visit to NYC is complete without a little bit of retail therapy. The boutiques and department stores here are a treasure trove of fashion delights. My credit card definitely took a beating (blame it on those sparkly, gorgeous accessories – what’s a girl to do?!), but I snagged some incredible pieces I can't wait to share with you. A pair of neon pink ballet flats that scream "I'm in New York!" a bold sequined skirt with a playful bow that would have even Dorothy’s ruby slippers feeling jealous, and an enchanting, swirling pastel-pink chiffon dress – oh, it's to die for! I promise to take loads of photos to share, my dear readers.

On Thursday, I sought out the enchanting vibes of Greenwich Village. The charm of those cobblestone streets, with their cozy cafés and art galleries, took me right back to a bygone era. I indulged in a decadent pastry in a Parisian-style café and listened to the local buskers serenade the crowds. Later that day, I even managed to sneak into a free ballet class – a total blessing! I’ve never felt so alive as when I’m surrounded by like-minded souls, all dancing with abandon.

Friday, of course, called for more theater! I found myself in the grand presence of the legendary Broadway, mesmerized by a truly awe-inspiring performance of a renowned musical (which I won’t reveal – I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise for you!) The lights, the music, the costumes – everything was sheer magic! This, my darlings, is the kind of thing that truly makes New York City feel like the cultural capital of the world.

On Saturday, I took a walk through Central Park. The peace and tranquility amidst the urban bustle is simply incredible. I settled down near the Bethesda Terrace to watch a charming street performance – a one-woman orchestra! You wouldn’t believe how talented she was – and dressed, oh how she was dressed – in a vibrant magenta tutu with emerald-green bows that were simply captivating! It reminded me why I adore this city – every day is filled with a kaleidoscope of surprise, color, and pure joy. It was the perfect way to cap off a fabulous week.

Sunday, for me, is the ultimate “chill-out” day. After a morning of catching up on the latest fashion trends in magazines and sipping on delicious bubble tea, I decided to embrace the beautiful afternoon sunshine by strolling through Bryant Park. It’s like a mini green oasis in the heart of New York City, with its vibrant green lawns, the iconic fountain, and of course – the carousel – an experience I won’t ever get tired of, even at 25! The beautiful afternoon light seemed to highlight all the shades of pink and peach in my ballet tutu - the colours of my dreams! Oh, how I wish everyone could share my joy for a fluttering pink tutu, how beautiful, how versatile!

Now, onto a quick little tidbit about this very date – August 13, 2001! A day marked by a special moment in history – the debut of a thrilling, family-friendly animated movie, Monsters, Inc., featuring a fun, loveable, blue, furry creature named Sulley and a wonderfully hilarious green one named Mike Wazowski, that had my whole family captivated for weeks! I'm imagining the bright colours of that animation on my latest ballet creation - imagine a magnificent bright-blue tutu, sprinkled with shimmering stars. Or a deep emerald green tutu, layered with sparkling teal ruffles. It would be truly amazing, don’t you think?!

The beauty of this city lies in its constant energy and inspiration – it pushes you to be bolder, to think outside the box, and to embrace your dreams, however audacious they may be. My dearest readers, remember, don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t wear a pink tutu or follow your dreams. And most importantly, stay curious, embrace the beauty in every day, and never stop twirling!

With much love, Emma

P.S. I'm currently working on a brand new Pink Tutu collection – one inspired by the magnificent spirit of New York City, think bright neon pink, vibrant fuchsia, and shimmering silver! Stay tuned for a preview on my Instagram page – I'll post some sneak peeks on Wednesday!
