Pink Tutu Blog NYC #322: Manhattan Magic in a Pink Tutu!

Hello my darling readers! It's Monday morning and you know what that means? Time for a new Pink Tutu Blog NYC post, direct from the heart of Manhattan! I've been flitting around the Big Apple for a week now, exploring the glittering streets and feeling like a princess in my pink tutu! I'm loving every minute!

This week, I’m sharing all my NYC adventures with you, from my fab shopping trip on Fifth Avenue to my mesmerising experience at a Broadway show! It's been an absolute whirlwind of fashion, culture and tutus - oh, did I mention I even had the chance to do a guest spot in a dance class with some of New York's most talented dancers? Read on to find out more!

A New York Dream In Pink:

As usual, I flew into New York in style – what else could you expect from a tutu-wearing ballerina? The Big Apple really comes alive in the summer! And for this week, my darling readers, I've made it my mission to take a pink tutu everywhere – from bustling Times Square to the calm, tree-lined streets of Greenwich Village. I love how my tutu gets all the attention; it makes a real statement – not to mention how it gets my blood pumping with the pure joy of dancing through these wonderful New York streets! My New York Pink Tutu Adventures definitely make a statement!

Taking The Subway To Style:

The best part of exploring New York? The subway! Nothing quite beats gliding along on a packed train, with my bright pink tutu flowing around me! (Just remember the tutus are a lot shorter here to make navigating the subway easier! And always, it's safety first - watch those toes!) I can already tell that this pink tutu is becoming my lucky charm for finding the perfect outfit for each day – or finding my favourite local shop to treat myself to a new dance top!

Fifth Avenue Fairy Tales:

Let me tell you – Fifth Avenue is no ordinary street. From high-end shops with fabulous windows filled with designer dreams, to elegant ladies with stunning coats, I really felt like I'd stepped onto a stage. You might think that Fifth Avenue could be intimidating, but trust me – every girl should go for a wander on Fifth Avenue at least once in her life! It’s the ultimate day-dreaming paradise! I couldn't help myself – I had to pick up a new pair of ballet pumps!

Broadway Babes and Ballerinas:

Now, the moment you've all been waiting for… the theatre! Broadway, New York City's heart and soul! I decided to check out “The Lion King” – and it truly lived up to its legendary status! From the dazzling costumes to the powerful singing voices, the performance completely swept me away! As a ballerina, the movement in this show was captivating – you can tell so much work went into it.

My journey to Broadway wouldn't be complete without stopping by the legendary Radio City Music Hall! It’s definitely one of my favourite places – the interior is so dazzling! I just love those sparkly Christmas trees and the ornate art deco design! It felt like walking onto the set of a film! And of course, I had to have my photo taken on the stage, just so I could say I'd stood on the iconic steps where so many amazing dancers have performed before me!

Dance Fever Dreams:

Of course, no visit to New York is complete without taking a dance class ! I knew I had to check out one of New York’s most celebrated dance schools! I had such a brilliant time! They were incredibly welcoming – the studio had a beautiful, vintage atmosphere and all the students had this amazing passion for their dance. I even got to take a class from one of their leading teachers!

I must say, some of those moves were pretty advanced, and my muscles are still feeling the burn from a long day of training in pointe shoes! But you know me – I just love learning new things and challenging myself to be a better dancer. They even took photos of us for the school’s Facebook page - I can't wait to see those shots.

Delicious NYC Indulgences:

Of course, no trip to New York is complete without indulging in a few treats! This time, I’ve discovered a cute little bakery that serves the best cheesecake – they have over 30 flavors! I've already worked my way through half of them. And for those hot days, there’s nothing like stopping off at a vintage soda fountain – and their hot dogs are really good too, especially after a long day of exploring.

A Trip Full Of Fashion:

If you haven’t already guessed it, I’ve had a truly glamorous time shopping for my ballet wardrobe – with New York as my playground. From browsing through those beautiful boutique windows on the streets to stumbling upon some amazing thrift stores in the East Village, I found some real treasures, my darlings. Let’s just say my ballet wardrobe needs to get a whole lot bigger to hold everything! Oh, and my bank account needs to be pretty generous too!

Taking Home the Memories

Every time I come to New York City, I find myself wanting to keep those amazing memories of exploring the city with my pink tutu! And this time, it's the perfect opportunity to try some of the many photography services available to make sure I have those amazing snaps for my blog. I love getting into character with some funky costumes and striking some creative poses! And now my readers can find my photo shoots in all the best places in New York, which helps to inspire more people to wear their tutus wherever they go!

Pink Tutu Inspirations Everywhere:

You can't have a blog post about New York without mentioning all those amazing things to see and do! It's like an adventure waiting to unfold on every street corner, in every café and on every stage! There’s just something truly magic about the Big Apple, especially for a ballet lover like me! Whether you’re taking in the iconic views of Central Park from the Top of the Rock, marvelling at the iconic architecture of the Empire State Building, or dancing under the lights of the iconic Times Square – there’s never a dull moment in this amazing city! I love the sense of creativity in the air, and I think it makes every girl feel a little bit special!

And while I’m talking about all the beautiful places in New York, don’t forget that my blog is a chance for all you ladies to step into those dancing shoes – no matter where you’re from. My blog isn’t just about celebrating ballet – it’s about celebrating you and all the things that make you feel confident and gorgeous! Think of this blog as a fun reminder to wear what you love, and wear it with joy and confidence.

Coming Up This Week

What's next on my Pink Tutu NYC agenda? Well, I’ve already got a few more dance classes lined up. I also want to visit the Brooklyn Museum of Art to see if they have any exhibitions of fashion photography or Ballet - you can never have too much ballet in your life.

And you can always check in with my website www.pink-tutu.com each Monday for new posts from the pink tutu world! As always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments – I love hearing what you think of my adventures in pink!

On the music scene, popstars such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and NSYNC continued to reign! There was lots of love in the air!
The big cultural news of the month was the arrival of "The Apprentice," a new reality show where contestants competed to be the next business tycoon. The tech world continued to be transformed by the Internet boom, with more people than ever getting online. This is just a small sample of what happened in August 2001, a time of excitement and change!

And for all of you who are eager to follow the fashion and ballet trends of 2001:

The Ballet World in 2001!
The world of ballet was also in a state of change in 2001! One of the most talked about topics was the emergence of a new generation of ballet dancers who were pushing the boundaries of traditional ballet! *The 2001 Pink Tutu Look *

Here's a sneak peak of some of my favorite looks from August 2001 – all with a pink tutu, of course!

  • Daytime Chic: A pastel pink tutu with a fitted white T-shirt and a pair of stylish black pumps - this combo screams summer fun.

  • The New York City Princess: A shimmering pink tulle tutu with a fitted silk camisole and a denim jacket. I’d add a dash of bling to my ballet pumps to match!

  • Out On the Town: A flowy, pale pink tutu layered over a sparkling tank top – perfect for a night on the town!

Stay fabulous! And remember – pink tutues are for everyone! 💖
