Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 31st December 2001 - A New Year's Eve Fairy Tale in the City that Never Sleeps!
Hello my lovely tutu-loving friends! It's Emma here, back with you for another fabulous week of NYC adventures. This week's post is extra special, because I'm bringing in the New Year from the heart of New York City! I can already hear you squealing with delight at the sheer thought of it, can't you?
Let me start by saying - I cannot believe this is blog post number 343! That's three hundred and forty-three weeks of sharing my passion for pink tutus, all things sparkly and fabulous, and of course, the absolute magic of ballet. It truly feels like yesterday I was a wide-eyed girl from Derbyshire, England, dreaming of waltzing into the Big Apple. And now, here I am, living the dream!
But enough about reminiscing. It's New Year's Eve, and we've got a lot to cover!
A Sparkling Start
After arriving at JFK yesterday, I practically jumped onto the Metro with all my sequins shimmering. New York always feels so full of life, and it's even more electric during the holiday season. The whole city sparkles! They say it's the city that never sleeps, and believe me, this weekend has already lived up to that reputation.
My arrival in New York, of course, had to be marked by a trip to a delightful shop called "Pink & Poised". I know I've mentioned it before, but their tutus are simply exquisite. I've managed to pick up a stunning lilac number that's going to make its debut on Times Square tonight! We can't let those New York cabbies outshine us, can we?
A Grand Show to Start the Year
Tonight, we're going to the legendary "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" at the Radio City Music Hall. Now, I know you all have this show on your bucket list (if you don't, add it immediately!), but let me tell you - it's beyond anything I could have imagined!
Imagine a massive theatre with dazzling lights, gorgeous costumes (think pink feathers, sparkling gowns, and yes, a sprinkle of silver tutus), and some of the most talented dancers you'll ever see. The Rockettes! Their precision, their energy, it's absolutely captivating! You really have to see it to believe it.
Dinner and a Dance at The Rainbow Room
After the show, it's off to the Rainbow Room for dinner with a view. They have a special New Year's Eve menu and the most wonderful jazz band! It's the perfect setting for a celebratory toast and maybe a little bit of twirling. (Remember, folks, a tutu makes every occasion a dance-worthy moment).
And guess what? I found a lovely pair of shoes at the famous Barneys department store just a block away. They are stunning pink stilettos with feathers - you'll love them! I know you all love seeing me in new shoe acquisitions, right?
A Final Note - And New Year's Resolutions
Well, my darlings, this week's blog has taken me quite a bit longer than I anticipated, because I've been so excited to share all these NYC wonders! I'm really loving this New York life - the excitement, the glamour, the shopping - and, of course, all the wonderful ballet that this city has to offer.
As we step into the new year, I think it's time to reflect. We've achieved so much together. I've performed on countless stages, inspired thousands of you to dance with joy, and most importantly, made pink tutus the most fashionable item in town. But hey, why stop there? My dream for this new year is for every single one of you, in every corner of the world, to dance in a pink tutu.
*Think of it! The streets of London, Paris, Tokyo, Rio... a sea of pink tutus! What a sight it would be! *
So, this year, I challenge all of you, my tutu-loving friends, to make this your New Year's resolution. Don't be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina, to dance freely, and to spread the joy of pink tutus! I promise, it'll be a year full of sparkle and twirls!
See you all next week with another post brimming with NYC adventures, my darling tutudiosas!
