Hello darlings!

I’m back from the most magical weekend in the city that never sleeps - New York City! Honestly, the excitement was just bubbling over all weekend. Where do I even start?!

First, let’s talk about my outfit, because what’s a trip to the Big Apple without a fabulous look? This weekend, I twirled through the concrete jungle in my shimmering hot pink tutu with matching sparkly tights. (Don’t worry, I popped my trusty little black ballet cardigan on for when the A/C was a bit nippy!). And of course, the crowning glory - my pink satin ballet pumps! I’m sure you know by now that pink tutus and glitter are practically my second skin, so this was pure fashion bliss.

Ballet Under the Stars

My trip to New York was all about ballet, naturally. I was absolutely bursting to see the "Ballet Under the Stars" show in Central Park, which I'd read about in a fab fashion magazine. It was so romantic, picture perfect, and honestly the kind of event I dream of staging one day, if my tiny blog becomes a HUGE success. I'd have tutus for everyone!

Anyway, the show was incredible. These dancers, their talent and athleticism just blew me away. Plus, the setting was just divine, you know? Seeing those talented bodies silhouetted against the dusky evening sky, it was a truly unforgettable experience. I'll be sharing a whole post dedicated to the show this week, with pics of my dazzling pink outfit of course. 😉

Broadway Bound

Okay, after a truly amazing dance experience under the stars, it was time to see some Broadway magic! It was impossible to go to New York and not soak up some theatre goodness, and my oh my, was it worth it! We went to see “Chicago”. Oh darling, this show just radiated old-school Hollywood glamour! The singing, the costumes, the dazzling lights...the energy of the whole experience was just infectious!

The musical reminded me how much I love these big city adventures, surrounded by amazing performers and audiences alike, and to think, just a few months ago I was in Derbyshire. Now, you've heard of "London" - but "Derbyshire" is another word for "middle of nowhere", so a bit of New York is like a breath of fresh air.

I feel totally inspired after that performance, already brimming with new ideas for my blog, and let’s just say I have a good feeling about this weekend's fashion post. There are just so many fantastic outfits waiting to be made.

The Empire State of Mind

After a fabulous day of ballet and Broadway, it was time to indulge in another New York tradition - exploring the incredible shopping scene! Of course, the pink tutu made me feel so fabulous and confident I went into every single boutique I could find.

Let’s be honest, it was all about the hunt for new pink tulle, sparkly sequins and feather boas to add to my already over-stuffed collection. The absolute highlight of the day though, was a new discovery - the Macy's department store on 34th street! I mean, how big can one shop be?! You could lose your shoes in this place. And not just any shoes, darling, think high-heeled satin pumps and glittering ballerina flats. My goodness, you really could get lost there for days.

Metropolitan Mayhem

Of course, my adventures in New York wouldn’t be complete without a whirl around the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They’ve got the most beautiful collections of paintings, sculpture, and well, everything in between. There’s something truly awe-inspiring to see, even if you don’t really know much about art! They even have an amazing Egyptian exhibit - just like something straight out of a movie! The best part? I could wear my trusty pink tutu without fear of any judgement. Fashion is definitely an artform after all!

My day finished with a spectacular sunset over the skyline from the top of the Empire State building. It was such a whirlwind weekend that it all feels like a beautiful dream. As the lights of the city twinkled around me, I took a deep breath and wished I could bottle up this magic feeling and carry it back to Derbyshire with me.

Taking a Bow

So here’s my advice to any aspiring ballerina looking for a city to embrace her passion. New York, you're just magical, even for a pink-tutu-clad, Derbyshire-born dreamer. Now, I’m going to slip into my most comfortable tutu and enjoy my Monday evening, knowing that next week's adventure is already on my mind. After all, the journey is always part of the story, darling!

Till next week, Emma xoxo

*P.S. What did I do today?! I did my usual morning ballet class with my local instructor. She is going to teach my very first dance routine at a school fundraiser. I will be teaching a small group of local girls the steps and movements, to my special new song! How amazing is that?! Of course I'll be wearing a sparkly, hot pink, tutu. Can't wait! *

P.P.S Don't forget to visit the www.pink-tutu.com website next week. See you there!

P.P.P.S And remember - never forget the power of a pink tutu. Let's all wear one and make the world a bit more magical.
