Pink Tutu Blog NYC #386: Dancing Through The Big Apple 🍎
Hey lovelies! It’s Emma here, reporting live from the heart of New York City! I’ve just arrived back in my fabulous hotel room, still buzzing from a whirlwind day of dance, shopping, and the most gorgeous Broadway show.
Let’s just say, this week has been a whirlwind. My ballet shoes have barely touched the ground!
Monday mornings are a bit of a blur here in New York – a proper “get up and go” type of situation. So, picture this: a girl in a pink tutu, clutching her ballet bag, speeding through the streets of Manhattan, hoping to make it on time for my favourite dance class. Luckily, the Metro came just in time, and I swished onto the carriage feeling like a total prima ballerina – much to the amusement of the New Yorkers!
The Dance World Of New York
Speaking of the dance world, this city is bursting with talent! I went to the most fabulous show at the Metropolitan Opera House this weekend. I was blown away by the incredible choreography and stunning costumes. It was like watching a beautiful dream unfold on stage. I particularly loved the way the dancers' movements flowed effortlessly - a real feast for the eyes! After the performance, I made my way through the city crowds - they always have that “let’s get this done!” attitude, but they were so friendly when they saw my pink tutu! It was a good moment!
But this week wasn’t all about seeing professional ballet performances. I’ve been spending some time exploring some incredible studios across the city. Each one has its own unique charm. From grand old theatres to hip underground spaces, New York has it all when it comes to dancing. It’s seriously inspirational! I just had to find a local dance shop. And as you know, there is nothing more fabulous than a shop filled with sparkly costumes! It reminded me of “Dance World”, that amazing shop in Chesterfield! (And I even got the staff member to say "you look great in pink" - how sweet!)
A Day Out In New York
One of the things I adore most about New York is how effortlessly it combines its historical charm with modern buzz. I love wandering through Central Park - a green oasis in the concrete jungle. The trees turn incredible colours this time of year - a real explosion of reds, oranges and yellows. It's hard not to be completely enchanted by the fall season in the city! I just love to take it all in and people-watch from my favourite bench on the edge of the park. You can always spot people doing the most random things here!
Of course, a visit to the Big Apple isn't complete without a shopping spree! This week I ventured into the depths of Fifth Avenue. There are so many stores that are bursting with colour and sparkle – perfect for a girl in a pink tutu! And you can never have too many pairs of ballet shoes, right?
Looking To The Future
My journey here in New York continues to be filled with new experiences and adventures, and the pink tutu is coming along for the ride. My ultimate dream is to inspire everyone to wear pink tutus! What a wonderful sight that would be, don’t you think? To see the world adorned in fluffy, pink bliss!
That’s it for now my lovelies. I hope you enjoyed this post!
Remember, you can always follow me on my other socials, and until next week, keep dancing! 💖
Emma’s Picks for the Week
Top Show: The Nutcracker at the Lincoln Center (always a Christmas classic!). It's running through January and it's already almost fully booked! I’ve just bought myself tickets! Top Shop: Capezio on Broadway for the most incredible selection of dancewear, shoes, and even accessories. Top Travel Tip: Ride the Staten Island Ferry. It's completely free and offers some of the most amazing views of the city.
