Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #392 - A Dance with Destiny in the Big Apple 🩰
Hello my gorgeous tutu-loving darlings! It's Monday, and that means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Blog NYC post! I'm so excited to share my adventures with you, and trust me, this week's been a whirl of twirls and sequins. I’m back in New York City after a whirlwind weekend in Derbyshire, England (it’s a little confusing going back and forth, but let’s just say it’s all part of the tutu-ific adventure!).
Now, I know you're all itching for some fashion, so let's dive right in! For my New York debut, I donned a blush pink tulle tutu with a delicate, hand-beaded bodice. It was utterly captivating, don't you think? I paired it with a crisp, white, tailored blouse and a classic pink tweed jacket for that perfect touch of chic.
The first thing I noticed when I hopped on the subway, is that the fashion here is next level. Bold, playful, and unique are just a few words that come to mind! I saw a lady wearing a fabulous emerald green jumpsuit with a lime green feather boa that could have rivalled a peacock. She just oozed confidence! And, my dears, a man strutting down the street with a custom pink, sequined bowtie! Talk about a head-turner! He had the whole ‘be your best self’ thing down to a T!
Now, my trip to the city is not just about tutus and street style (although those are very much a part of it, don't you worry!). I've been dancing like crazy, and this week, I was fortunate to be a part of an incredible ballet performance! I don't want to spoil the details for those of you who might be attending – but let's just say that I'm definitely channeling the energy from those graceful leaps and elegant pirouettes into my own pink tutu adventures. I'm thinking a few extra swishes and maybe a pirouette or two in my next Instagram video, don't you agree?
The show was held in this majestic old theater that took me right back to the Golden Age of Hollywood. The glamour and excitement were just infectious, and my heart skipped a beat during every step! You know what else was lovely? I bumped into this delightful young ballet dancer after the show. Turns out she had a blog too – a whole community of pink-loving dancers and ballet fans! It was like finding a little pink tutu family, and I’m thrilled to add her to the mix! We're definitely going to be brainstorming some tutu-ific ideas together! I think I even spied her on the subway on my way home!
Of course, no New York City adventure is complete without some delightful shopping! I’ve discovered some amazing hidden boutiques with vintage clothing treasures - everything from feathered boas to vintage ballet shoes to exquisite pearl necklaces, and all the lovely hues of pink imaginable! The shopping scene here is absolutely a visual feast.
For this particular day in New York, December 9th, the temperature dropped below freezing! Brrr! And this little ballerina found herself huddled under a luxurious mink coat I’d picked up at a little vintage store. I’ve definitely got my eye on a hot pink one! Speaking of which, my readers might be interested to know there’s a fun pink and purple exhibit opening this week at the Museum of Modern Art, and I’m thinking I’ll pay a visit soon!
I have so much planned in the next few weeks and you know what, my darling pink tutu followers? This city is as vibrant and full of surprises as my love for all things pink. It’s full of opportunities to dance, to shop, to meet other amazing, pink-loving, tutu-obsessed people!
My dear tutu enthusiasts, keep spreading the love of the tutu wherever you go. The world needs more twirls, more joy, and a whole lot of pink! Remember to wear your tutu with confidence and always embrace your own unique style. And remember, you can catch my adventures here at Pink-Tutu.com every Monday.
Until next time, my sweet pink tutu darlings, stay fashionable and twirl on!
Love,
Emma x
PostscriptDid you know there are 465 subway stations in New York City? I love how they each have their own personality. Here’s a fun little piece of trivia for you: did you know that the first metro line in NYC, the IRT, opened in 1904? That’s a lot of pink tutu opportunities!
