Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #521: A Whirlwind of Pink in the Big Apple 🩰🍎

Hello my darlings! Emma here, back from another fab week in New York City! It's Monday, the 30th of May 2005, and as usual, I'm brimming with tales from the past seven days, a flurry of tutus, and a whole lot of pink!

This week's adventures kicked off with the glorious sunshine we've been having - perfect weather for exploring the city in my favourite pink tulle. I’m here to spread the word: it truly is the season for tutus! Every time I step out onto the pavements, the colourful cacophony of fashion seems to vibrate with a pink-tutu-esque energy. I think I’ve seen almost as many pairs of skyscraper heels this week as I have of shiny silver tutus. Maybe my dreams are finally coming true!

This week I indulged in my favourite pastime: indulging! 🤭 As much as I love seeing ballets and dancing myself (which I managed to squeeze in at least twice!), my love for fashion is boundless. New York never disappoints when it comes to shopping - I found the most exquisite little boutique off Fifth Avenue packed to the rafters with vintage designer pieces, the most delicate fabrics you could imagine. There's something utterly enchanting about scouring those racks, pulling out hidden treasures like shimmering, silky butterflies waiting to be admired. I treated myself to a vintage blush-pink cocktail dress that felt as if it were made just for me. It’ll be the perfect companion for the fancy event I'm attending on Saturday!

Speaking of Saturday… this week is jam-packed with things I adore. After my ballet class on Friday afternoon, I’m seeing “Swan Lake” at the Metropolitan Opera House on Saturday. I managed to grab a ticket thanks to my friend Fiona (who you might remember from the London Blog - she's a fellow tutu-wearing dancer who knows just how important those special moments can be!)

After the show, I'll head for dinner in Greenwich Village - there’s this new Italian restaurant I've heard wonderful things about. And guess what, darling? They’re renowned for their creamy rosewater panna cotta… it’s a match made in heaven for my little pink palate! 😋

Sunday afternoon is another highlight - it's my mum's birthday, and even though she's across the Atlantic in Derbyshire, I plan to take a break from my pink whirl for a bit to call and wish her a wonderful day. It's amazing how far technology has come; I can still hear her laugh, just as if we were having afternoon tea at her kitchen table! 🥰

But first, we have to talk about what makes a visit to New York City truly complete: the underground! It's the ultimate urban adventure in a pink tutu. The roar of the train, the clattering of the wheels, the constant ebb and flow of passengers – it's an absolute symphony! 🚂 The best thing about it? No matter where you go in this vibrant metropolis, the subway connects you to everything! Whether it's Broadway, the trendy cafes in Brooklyn, or the art galleries of the Upper East Side, the train will whisk you off on your next great adventure.

I'm so grateful for every single opportunity to dance, to shop, to see a fantastic show, and to explore the world in my beloved pink tutus. This whole adventure is about much more than the shimmering fabric and the elaborate pleats - it's about expressing yourself, celebrating joy, and embracing the world with a playful heart. And wouldn't it be absolutely brilliant if we all did that together? Can you imagine the city, filled with people twirling in tutus, each one unique, each one full of vibrant spirit?

Maybe that's what I'm working towards - not just to have the world embrace pink tutus, but to create a world where we all embrace our individual, joyful selves! It's a beautiful dream, and New York City is definitely the place to live it! 🗽 💖

Have a wonderful week, my dears! And remember, every day is a reason to wear a pink tutu! 🌸

See you next Monday, for another whirlwind of pink in the Big Apple!

Love,

Emma xxx
