Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 5th December 2005 - The Big Apple Balle-tastic!
Hello my lovely darlings!
It's your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina, Emma, here, and guess what? This little chick is back in the Big Apple, New York City! That's right, after my amazing performance at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden (I'll be writing a full blog post on that later - watch this space!), I flew across the pond for a whirlwind tour of Broadway shows and, of course, some serious tutu-shopping!
This trip, I decided to make things extra sparkly and added a brand new pink tutu to my collection. It's a custom-made confection from the divine Madame Lucille, a darling French seamstress who just knows how to make a tutu sing. I'll be posting a full photoshoot with it soon, just you wait and see!
My first New York stop? Well, of course, it had to be the ballet, darling! I couldn't miss the "Nutcracker" at the New York City Ballet, a masterpiece performed with such elegance and precision. My heart almost skipped a beat with the magical snow scene and the adorable sugar plum fairies. I think I was as mesmerized by the costumes as by the dance itself. Oh, the sparkles!
Speaking of sparkles, I spent the afternoon exploring the dazzling boutiques on 5th Avenue. My credit card got a little workout but hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! I snagged a divine new pair of scarlet heels from the legendary Manolo Blahnik (yes, just like Carrie Bradshaw!), and found a bewitching red-sequined top from a quirky little designer shop - a perfect new piece to add to my evening wear.
You wouldn't believe what I discovered that night! The Theatre District is simply abuzz with excitement. I found this incredible little store filled with vintage tutus - absolute gems, darling! I scored a fabulous old silk tutu that just needs a bit of TLC. It will be absolutely stunning once I've given it a bit of my Emma magic. I can't wait to try it out at the next ballet class!
What did I learn today? New York City is a true ballet paradise! With amazing shows, fantastic shops, and enough glitz and glamour to fill a hundred tutus, I'm practically beaming with joy. Oh, and did I mention I'm working on a new pink tutu-themed shopping spree tour?
Until next week, darlings, stay tuned and remember: "Pink is always the answer. It just takes a bit of sparkle and a whole lot of tutu."
And, just so you know, this is blog post number 548! See you again on Monday!
Love and glitter, Emma x
Post Script:Fashionista Fun: Did you know that the world-famous Metropolitan Museum of Art is celebrating its "Costume Institute Exhibition: Fashion in the Age of Excess"? I am itching to see this exhibition with its fabulous array of extravagant costumes from the 1980s! They're promising an explosion of color, daring designs and more bling than a pink tutu can handle! Perhaps it will even inspire me to create my own bold new tutu design. Stay tuned!
