Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday, October 23rd, 2006 - Post #594

Hello my darlings! Emma here, back from another whirlwind week in the fabulous city that never sleeps. New York, you are truly my muse!

This week, my lovelies, has been a whirl of pink perfection, fabulous fashion finds, and, of course, some sensational ballet. From a breathtaking show at the Metropolitan Opera House to a heart-pumping street performance, it's been a kaleidoscope of artistic delights!

As always, my journey started at my little haven in Greenwich Village, a bijou apartment with walls the colour of sugared almonds and enough tulle to make a swan jealous. After a morning of sipping tea and indulging in my favourite fluffy croissant from the boulangerie down the street, I was ready for my adventure.

Now, I know you all love the inside scoop on my latest ballet outfits. Let me tell you, this week has been an explosion of sequins and tulle! For the opera, I chose a shimmering blush-pink tutu, custom-made by a darling little designer I discovered tucked away in the Lower East Side. Its intricate embroidery of pink roses made me feel like a whimsical princess, and the way it swayed with each pirouette - sheer enchantment! I paired it with a soft lilac chiffon blouse, a touch of classic elegance that complimented the dramatic tutu. For footwear? You guessed it! Pink satin pumps, with a dainty crystal embellishment that shimmered under the stage lights.

To be honest, it felt divine to float through the bustling city streets, my pink tutu billowing like a delicate cloud. The stares, the smiles, the occasional "You look lovely!" were a sweet reward, and a testament to the power of pink, my lovelies. My aim in life, you see, is to spread the joy of pink tutus, and if I can make one person smile while twirling on the subway, my mission is accomplished.

Ballet Blitz!

The ballet at the Met was something truly magical, darling. It was a modern ballet set in a vibrant, futuristic New York City. The costumes, oh the costumes! A blaze of neon hues, shimmering metallics, and even a touch of that classic pink. The choreography was breathtaking - a symphony of movement that seemed to flow through the dancers like liquid silk. It left me mesmerized, yearning to step onto that stage and let my own artistry loose.

You know I just have to share the details of the after-party, darling! Held in a grand ballroom, it was filled with the who's who of the New York arts scene. Imagine champagne flowing like water, glittering chandeliers, and an atmosphere buzzing with creative energy.

Shopping Spree in Soho

But my adventures weren't just about ballet this week. I found myself venturing into the bohemian heart of Soho, drawn by the promise of quirky vintage boutiques and hidden gems. I managed to unearth a pair of exquisite turquoise satin ballet shoes, their bows the perfect shade of pale blue. Just the right touch of colour to brighten up my usual pink ballet attire. I also fell head over heels for a bejeweled vintage headpiece, its silver and pearls sparkling like a thousand twinkling stars. A definite statement piece for my next performance!

Subway Serendipity

Of course, no journey in New York City would be complete without a trip on the legendary subway. The symphony of metallic screeches, the rumble of wheels on track, the hurried chatter - all these add a special soundtrack to my everyday adventures. I find myself captivated by the sheer diversity of the passengers - young and old, dressed in a vibrant kaleidoscope of fashion, each with their own unique story. On my recent trip, a little girl spotted my pink tutu and, with a smile that could melt a heart of stone, exclaimed, "Wow! You look like a ballerina princess!" The feeling was mutual, darling. That little girl, she's the real princess, and her bright spirit makes this city even more special.

Next Week's Adventure!

My lovely friends, this week has been an absolute dream, full of colour, creativity, and the enchantment of New York City. I'm already planning my next adventure, which involves a trip to Broadway, and yes, darling, I'll be there, pink tutu and all. It will be a whirlwind of music, laughter, and of course, the magic of theatre. I can't wait to share it with you all!

Keep those tutus twirling!

Love,

Emma
