Hey darlings! It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind week in the dazzling city that never sleeps – New York, New York! As always, I'm wearing my trusty pink tutu (can't leave home without it!), and ready to share my adventures with you lovely lot.
Monday, July 7th, 2008 - It's been a while since I've been back to my favourite city, and the air crackles with excitement. As I stepped off the metro, I could feel the rhythm of the city pumping through my veins. The sheer energy here is exhilarating!
Fashion Forward - It’s A Shop-a-holic's Paradise
Today's mission was a serious case of retail therapy! New York is a wonderland of fabulous boutiques, each overflowing with unique and dazzling treasures. From chic Fifth Avenue flagships to hidden gems in the Lower East Side, I could spend days browsing these fashion oases! I did pick up a divine silk scarf adorned with pink roses, naturally, and some cute little sparkly earrings.
I love how you can walk for blocks and blocks and still be in the thick of it all, and that feeling of endless exploration, particularly when it involves trying on gorgeous new dresses, is absolutely divine! It felt amazing to try on some gorgeous creations in my favourite colour, and to soak up the vibrant energy of these designer havens. It just inspires me!
Culture Vultures
To counteract my fashion overdose, I indulged in some cultural escapism! I'd booked tickets to a truly inspiring performance at the beautiful New York City Ballet. The dancers were phenomenal, their graceful movements weaving a tale of elegance and strength, just captivating. And guess what? A whole troupe of young dancers were decked out in a vibrant range of tutus! You know how much I adore tutus, so you can only imagine how happy that made me!
Broadway Bound - Under the Stars
Speaking of dazzling performances, I caught an electrifying musical under the stars! There's something incredibly magical about being transported to another world through the sheer power of music and movement, especially under the city's magical nighttime sky. I just love those impromptu events; that raw, unbridled energy in a little, intimate setting was a treat! A whole cast of brilliant young singers, some wearing colourful tutus, you can guess I felt right at home!
Tutu Tuesday - A Calling
Did I tell you I’ve started a whole campaign? A ‘Wear a Pink Tutu Tuesday’ campaign. The plan is for everyone in the city to rock a pink tutu for just one day of the week – just a touch of pink and girly fabulousness. Think of it like a pink tsunami of happiness flooding the city streets. It’s going to be utterly amazing and my goal is to spread it right across the country, then across the globe. It’s definitely going to catch on, people love an excuse to dress up in something fab, especially with pink in the mix, and I just know it’s going to make so many people happy! The whole city will be beaming in the softest of shades. Why not try it? I promise you, it’s one of the most fabulous ways to embrace life in all its colourful joy.
Pink Delights in the Heart of the City
Speaking of colour, a stroll through Central Park on a sunny afternoon is always a good idea, right? You’ll find me roaming through its lush meadows and charming little gardens, surrounded by pink blossoms and lush green foliage. And of course, I'll be in my pink tutu, as my outfit’s colour perfectly reflects the vibrant nature around me. It's like a touch of magic against the backdrop of this enchanting urban oasis.
Eating Our Way through the City That Never Sleeps
One of my favourite pastimes, naturally, is devouring New York’s scrumptious treats! Of course, my favourite pink-themed culinary adventure was a delightful little patisserie, right next to a pretty little park in Greenwich Village. With an abundance of strawberry pastries and delicate meringue kisses in the prettiest of pink, you know this sweet haven was right up my street!
The world feels full of wonderful people, just waiting to discover what a difference wearing a pink tutu can make. Maybe you can try it in your town? Just imagine what happens if we get everyone in the world rocking pink tutus!
