Pink Tutu Blog: New York City Diaries - Post #682

Monday, 30th June 2008

Good morning darlings!

The Big Apple never fails to steal my heart. The energy, the hustle and bustle, the sheer amount of incredible performances to see, it’s truly captivating! I've been dancing my way through this magnificent city, taking in everything from Broadway to street performances, all while sporting my favourite pink tutu, of course!

This week, I'm channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw – with a sprinkle of tutus! I just adore this city and it's wonderful how the New York girls have adopted a fierce, individual style that’s both glamorous and bold.

Broadway Dreams & Streetside Sparkle

As you know, darling, I'm a sucker for a good ballet show! This week, I snagged tickets for Swan Lake at Lincoln Center - it was a dream come true! The choreography was simply breathtaking, and the costumes were exquisite. The dancers, both graceful and powerful, made every movement a piece of art. And you just know I had to stand out with my vibrant pink tutu against the traditional black of the theatre! It added a dash of playful fun, wouldn't you say?

But you know what I love even more? Catching those fleeting moments of magic right on the streets of New York! I stumbled across a delightful street performer on my way to the theatre, her ballet moves, executed with such passion, had me completely captivated. I couldn't help but join in the applause and toss a couple of dollars in her tip jar - what a wonderfully spirited performance!

Fashion Flips and Finds

My travels always involve a spot of shopping, don’t they? This week, I found a little hidden gem in the heart of the Village – a vintage clothing boutique packed to the brim with designer delights. You won't believe it - I found a stunning black and silver cocktail dress that perfectly matched my newest pair of pink ballet shoes. Can't wait to show it off at the next cocktail party!

Oh, and how could I resist browsing the designer boutiques in Bloomingdales? I treated myself to a beautiful pair of silver statement earrings, perfect for a glamorous night out on the town! I just love how each item I find tells a story, adding another chapter to my pink tutu adventures.

The Metro's My Runway

No journey through New York City would be complete without a trip on the metro. This city's transportation network is like a ballet in itself, with all those lines connecting different neighbourhoods and communities. I absolutely adore it!

What's even better? My bright pink tutu seems to attract the most delightful attention, always eliciting smiles and excited conversations from fellow passengers. This city embraces individuality, and I love that!

And honestly, it makes those cramped commutes so much more fun! There’s no better place to see the vibrant mix of characters that make this city so wonderfully unique.

Spreading The Pink Tutu Love

It’s hard not to spread a little bit of happiness with my pink tutu! I’ve always believed that every girl deserves to feel like a ballerina at heart. You know what I say: Let your inner fairy dance freely, and let your confidence shine through. The more of us rocking pink tutus, the better the world looks, don't you think?

You know what? I'm starting a movement - The Pink Tutu Project! I’m inviting everyone to embrace their inner pink-tutu girl. Join me and spread the love of all things sparkly, fashionable and fun!

A Quick Note From Derbyshire, England

Although I adore living my New York life, my heart still beats for Derbyshire, England. There's a quiet beauty there, a gentle pace that always draws me back. And of course, I'm forever grateful to the English ballet community that helped launch me into this incredible adventure. I often long for a spot of tea and scones with a good old Derbyshire gossip! But until then, New York's whirlwind is where I find myself, my pink tutu ready for the next chapter!

Until then, keep dancing your heart out!
