Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 681 - A New York State of Mind (in Pink, of course!)

Hello, darling! It's Monday, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Blog post. This week I'm writing from the dazzling city that never sleeps, the concrete jungle that is New York City. Honestly, I could live here. It's a city that, like me, just knows how to put on a show.

Let's rewind to the start of my adventure. I'm a Derbyshire girl at heart, but I’ve been a New Yorker for the past week now, all thanks to another fantastic performance at the Royal Albert Hall – Romeo and Juliet this time. I swear, those tights and that full-length tutu were designed for me. The applause and cheers at the end gave me such a buzz, it really fuelled me to get on the plane and head straight for the Big Apple. I might be a ballerina, but let's just say I'm not a fan of staying in one place for too long – even when that place is a dressing room.

This time, though, I packed my trusty Pink Tutu for this trip. As you all know, I believe everyone should embrace the beauty of wearing pink, so what better place than New York City to make it a reality? My New York Pink Tutu Tour has been nothing short of phenomenal, starting right at the top of the city, with the Empire State Building. Now, I know what you're thinking. What does a ballerina like you wear to go up the Empire State Building? Let's just say it involved pink…and some sensible trainers (after all, you can't just prance around in pink tutus and be truly practical.)

Let me paint a picture for you, darlings. The iconic Art Deco building gleaming in the sunshine, a kaleidoscope of glittering Manhattan below me, and, of course, me in my signature pink tutu. A touch of Derbyshire on a New York rooftop! Oh, it was quite a sight, a ballerina with a view.

Speaking of iconic views, my next stop was Broadway. Now, what better place to watch a performance than on the famed Broadway stage? Honestly, these are true stars, with some incredible costumes, fabulous choreography, and dazzling sets that had me utterly speechless. There was just a bit of pink missing. Hmm...perhaps I'll have to see if I can snag a role in one of the next Broadway productions… a pink-tutu-wearing ballerina in a Broadway musical. I just know it would be a hit.

It wasn’t all dazzling stages and towering buildings though, because no trip to New York is complete without a little shopping spree! Believe me, when I tell you I did my research. There was, of course, the ultimate pink store – a haven for anyone who lives and breathes pink. (Seriously, if you ever need pink in any form or fashion, it's there. They even had pink tea!) I walked away with a suitcase bursting with adorable pink goodies – think feather boas, glittering pink sunglasses, and enough sparkly pink hair bows to last me until my next trip. The perfect combination of practical and glamourous. And you just know that every item in that suitcase will feature prominently in future blog posts and social media updates.

Of course, being a city like New York, there's so much to see and do. We wandered around the charming, colourful West Village (a definite favourite for my pink palette), caught the Staten Island Ferry for some epic city views, strolled through Central Park, and dined on delicious slices of New York pizza (okay, maybe not a ballet girl's ideal, but a slice was a slice!). Honestly, even the ordinary activities felt like a fairy tale – the constant hum of activity, the diverse blend of cultures, the colourful murals, the buzzing markets. It felt like a whirlwind of vibrant life!

On Sunday evening, my time in New York ended just as magically as it began – with a delightful performance by the New York City Ballet at the Lincoln Center. My first real encounter with professional ballet in the Big Apple was so incredible! The choreography, the lighting, the music – it was just…wow!

You might be wondering how I funded this incredible New York adventure? As you all know, it's been the tutu hard work of dancing that allows me to experience incredible trips like this. My most recent performance at the Royal Albert Hall was absolutely magical. From the costumes to the energy in the audience, it was just fantastic. Of course, nothing is better than being surrounded by fellow pink tutu-wearers, because yes, my followers and my tutu squad were out in full force to see Romeo and Juliet.

Oh, did I tell you my current Pink Tutu outfit has gone down a storm here? Every time I wear it on the streets, I see smiles. People stop me to compliment me and I get so many snaps on Instagram. New York seems to embrace the unexpected and loves to make a statement – who knows, maybe my little Derbyshire pink tutu will start a whole new fashion trend here in the city. And honestly, you know I'll be promoting it all the way.

That’s it for this week's Pink Tutu Blog post. My little slice of New York is ending, but I'm sure there'll be many more pink-filled trips in the future! I'll be sharing those with you all. In the meantime, remember to rock your own pink, spread some smiles, and keep your eyes on www.pink-tutu.com for next week's blog post!

See you soon!

P.S.

Oh, and if you happen to be in New York City this week, why not go and visit some of these beautiful places that I discovered? You can get a stunning view from the Top of the Rock (it's actually right across the road from the Empire State Building!) You've got to see the iconic red brick facades in Greenwich Village, try a slice of New York style pizza at a local eatery – just make sure it's hot and melty! (It is my number one tip for visiting this amazing city. It’s my opinion, but it's a fact.)

Until next time!

xx

Emma
