Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 2010-03-29 – Dancing in the Big Apple (Post #773)

Hello darlings! It's Monday, which means a brand new blog post from yours truly, Emma, the pink tutu wearing ballerina, here in the Big Apple!

This week's adventure? A whirl through the magical world of New York City ballet, darling! And, as usual, my pink tutu has been at the forefront, of course! After all, it’s the ultimate way to express your inner ballerina wherever you are, wouldn’t you agree?

First, a bit of background for those new to my fabulous blog (www.pink-tutu.com – don’t forget to subscribe!). I’m Emma, a young woman from the heart of Derbyshire, England, who found her calling in the graceful world of ballet. Now, I dance my way around the globe, sharing my love of all things pink and twirling, spreading the joy of ballet to every corner of the world – one tutu at a time!

I’m living my absolute dream! Dancing and travelling the world! Every week, I travel to a new city, sharing my adventures with you all, all while funding my passion with the joy of ballet performances. Oh, the life! It's pure bliss!

And New York, oh, New York, it's a haven for a ballet-obsessed girl like me. There's something captivating about the city that whispers its magic onto you, darling. Maybe it's the relentless energy, the buzzing city lights, or the thrill of being at the heart of the arts world! Whatever it is, I can’t help but feel completely exhilarated and in awe of everything this city has to offer.

The Majestic Majesty of Ballet in NYC

My adventures in New York started, where else, but at a ballet performance! I was lucky enough to see "La Bayadere" by the American Ballet Theatre. You see, my dearest readers, when I travel, I spend most of my time seeing ballet shows. It’s all about seeing a variety of dance styles, and trying to find new inspirations that I can bring to my own dancing.

This show was pure artistry at its best! The ballerinas danced with incredible power and grace. Every gesture was so meticulously thought out, and every step flowed beautifully. My heart simply melted at the graceful movements, and the way they told a story without uttering a word. It's a truly captivating experience to see so much skill, beauty, and passion poured into such a timeless art form!

But I didn't stop there. Ballet isn't just for watching; it's also about actively participating, isn't it? So I did what any self-respecting pink tutu wearer would do: I enrolled in a ballet class!

Oh, the exhilaration of dance!

The studio I found in the heart of Manhattan was buzzing with life and energy! Everyone from beginner ballerinas to seasoned professionals filled the space. I felt so welcomed! We were all united by the love of ballet! We danced alongside each other, learning, laughing, and embracing the power of graceful movement. Even a tiny ballerina in pink is welcomed into the wonderful ballet family! I learned new steps, challenged myself, and found myself smiling ear-to-ear - the true essence of pure joy!

I find that being active in the ballet scene, performing and taking classes is an amazing way to meet other like-minded dancers! So many fellow dancers and ballet enthusiasts – I simply cannot get enough of all the amazing people I meet during my journeys. There are truly wonderful people in the ballet community, and so many inspiring women that I’ve met on my travels!

Shopping for the Soul (and a few new tutus!)

Of course, no trip to New York is complete without some shopping! Oh darling, the shops here!

Imagine a ballet enthusiast's paradise: chic dancewear shops, glittering boutiques filled with exquisite fashion creations, and vintage stores where you can find the most gorgeous treasures!

I spent hours exploring Fifth Avenue, a real paradise for a fashionista like myself! There, you'll find everything your heart desires. From the luxurious boutiques with their elegant mannequins adorned with fabulous pink frocks, to the quaint independent stores tucked away in alleyways that hold a special charm – each store is a new adventure! It was truly a day of indulgence and a perfect treat after a morning of ballet!

You can always tell if I’ve been on a shopping spree by my luggage. This week’s trip will be a big one. But this time I don’t need a bigger suitcase for tutus! Instead, I brought a giant shopping bag with me - you can't return from a New York trip without a souvenir. Now, I just need a special suitcase for tutus and special bags for shoes! Oh, darling! I have so many tutus I simply need more luggage for my precious collection.

I had to add to my ever-growing collection of tutus, naturally. After all, a ballerina’s wardrobe is never complete. My New York adventures resulted in two gorgeous, tulle-filled additions - one in a delicate, blushing pink, and another in a bolder, vibrant magenta, because you can never have too many tutus, especially when they’re the perfect colour to reflect the city’s lively spirit!

And to ensure I am outfitted from head to toe, I splurged on a few new dance accessories! A pair of delicate ballerina flats (because every girl needs a comfortable pair of shoes for those impromptu street dancing sessions, you know!), and some delicate jewellery that will complete my dance ensemble! Of course, nothing too flamboyant – just subtle pieces of jewellery that dance with the music.

Sharing the Love of Tutu with the World

In New York City, it felt like every woman was oozing confidence! It's almost as if there’s a collective mantra whispered through the city: ‘Live boldly, dress with flair, and never be afraid to embrace your inner fabulousness!’.

Inspired by the energy of New York City, I set off on my own personal mission to spread the love of tutus - because what better way to show off your individuality than with a tutu? They say, "Don't take life too seriously, because it's not that long". So, I thought: why not share my love of tutus with others! I took a picture with a lovely girl dressed in pink (which is, in itself, a tutu-approved colour!). We even stopped some strangers to offer our pink tutus, encouraging them to wear them for a few minutes! Let’s get a few more tutus dancing in the streets!

But you don't need to wear a tutu to make a statement! Just a sprinkle of confidence, a touch of playful flair, and you'll have the entire world taking notice. Don't be afraid to embrace your individual style!

As you may have guessed from my website (www.pink-tutu.com) I have an ongoing aim to get everyone to wear a pink tutu – no matter what their age, size, gender, or personality! Now that is a goal that I will be working toward until my dance days are over!

So there you have it, my lovelies! Another wonderful week of adventures, new inspirations, and more pink tutus in the world!

Until next Monday, my darling readers, Stay graceful and never stop twirling! xoxo, Emma
