#PinkTutuBlogNYC: New York, New York! (Post #808)

Monday 29th November 2010

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad travel buddy, back from another whirlwind weekend in the Big Apple! 🍎 It feels like I haven’t even had time to catch my breath after my last trip, but that’s just the magic of New York, isn’t it? A constant, exciting buzz, with something new around every corner.

This weekend was extra special, though, because… drum roll please… I saw "The Nutcracker" at the New York City Ballet! Oh, the magic! My inner ballerina went absolutely wild. Tchaikovsky’s music, the beautiful costumes, the graceful dancers, the story… it was simply perfection. And did I mention the gorgeous stage set? It looked like it was straight out of a fairytale!

Speaking of fairy tales, what did I wear for the big ballet event, you ask? Well, obviously, it had to be a pink tutu! I chose my shimmering, peach-coloured tutu that's so light and floaty, it practically makes you feel like you’re floating through the air. I paired it with a simple, elegant black top, my trusty ballet flats (with a tiny bow, of course!), and my pink leather jacket – because even the most seasoned ballerina needs a bit of warmth when New York’s winter winds blow in! You can bet your bottom dollar that I looked utterly delightful, if I do say so myself.

After the show, I popped down to Times Square and soaked up the festive atmosphere. With the twinkling lights, the massive Christmas tree, and the throngs of excited people, it felt like Christmas had come early! I even spotted a couple of fellow tutu enthusiasts – who knew that tutus were this popular in New York? It was a total fashion moment, and of course, I snapped a photo. 📸

Now, for my weekend shopping escapades. Oh, my darlings, you won't believe what I found! It’s like New York just whispers sweet fashion secrets to me. I stumbled upon the cutest little boutique tucked away in Greenwich Village. I fell head over heels for the most gorgeous emerald green silk dress – it's just perfect for holiday gatherings, with a touch of whimsy and sparkle. And who can resist a vintage-inspired hat with a dramatic plume? Not me! I couldn't leave the store without it.

Speaking of whimsical fashion, let’s talk about the subway! 🚇 The New York City subway is a real adventure, especially when you're in your favourite pink tutu! I felt like a little princess exploring a new world. People definitely did double takes as I skipped down the platforms. It’s a great way to get around, cheap, convenient and full of fun characters.

I even met a woman at a street performer's show – she was doing some fantastic aerial silks – and she told me she used to be a dancer! Turns out she was actually the one who got me started on my tutu journey years ago! We had a lovely chat, she gave me some tips on finding more street performance hotspots in New York.

Oh, and let's not forget about the amazing food! From steaming hot pastrami on rye sandwiches to creamy lattes in chic coffee shops, there's something to satisfy every craving. I treated myself to a slice of the most delicious New York-style cheesecake, too!

I truly do love this city – the vibrant energy, the never-ending flow of exciting experiences, the way it makes you feel like you can achieve anything… and I definitely get the feeling New York loves me too!

P.S. If you’re in New York, do try and catch a performance at the New York City Ballet – I promise you won’t regret it!

Until next time, my lovelies! Keep dancing and spread the pink tutu love!

**XOXO,

Emma**
