Pink Tutu Blog NYC #809 - New York City Twirls: A Ballet-Filled Weekend!

Hey there, fellow tutu enthusiasts! Emma here, bringing you a fresh dose of pink from the heart of New York City. I'm back with another instalment of my NYC adventures, and this week, it was all about ballet – my favourite kind of therapy, right after a new pair of pink ballet shoes!

As a ballerina at heart, I just couldn't resist the magic that New York City has to offer. From iconic Broadway shows to captivating off-Broadway gems, the city is teeming with breathtaking dance performances, and this weekend, I got to immerse myself in them!

The week started off with a fantastic visit to the American Ballet Theatre – I’ve always been a big fan of ABT. My passion for ballet sparked in my childhood in Derbyshire, England, watching shows like the Royal Ballet, and since then, my love for this art form has only grown stronger.

This week, the American Ballet Theatre performed the magnificent Swan Lake. The intricate story unfolded on stage, and the breathtaking beauty of the ballet captivated me. Every movement was filled with emotion, and I found myself swept away by the grace and power of the dancers.

The Swan Lake performance at the Metropolitan Opera House felt so glamorous. And what's more glamorous than pink? The colour just shines on stage, even more than the dazzling chandeliers, the sheer spectacle of it all! I made sure I wore my new pink tutu from that fancy store on Fifth Avenue – a sparkly creation of sheer delight with more frills than a French pastry.

Afterward, a little wander through Times Square to catch a show on Broadway. Seeing the dazzling lights, the hustle and bustle, all felt a little too much after a show like Swan Lake with its intricate steps and ethereal beauty, so it was back to my little sanctuary on West 87th Street.

Of course, no ballet adventure is complete without a little bit of shopping, so I spent an afternoon indulging my inner ballerina. New York is truly a paradise for dancers, especially if you like all things pink!

From ballet boutiques selling those beautiful feather boas to vintage stores bursting with classic tutus, I found treasures galore – enough to satisfy even the most discerning of ballerina’s needs. I’ve picked out some great accessories that will help complete that look – it is, after all, the most important thing, right?!

Of course, I found more to satisfy my shopping habit! But all that browsing makes you hungry, and as I love to stay as fit and as fabulous as possible, there was nothing else for it than a spot of tea in a little pink-tastic tearoom just down the street.

As for this blog, it is something I find immensely fulfilling. My adventures around this city have to be shared. So, this is my way of sharing a piece of this exciting life with you, my fellow tutu lovers, so let’s spread the pink love. Let's all wear pink tutus and twirl together!

Stay tuned for more adventures from the Pink Tutu Blog. It's always tutu much fun to explore the city, and you can be sure I’ll be bringing you plenty of fun updates! Until next time, remember: life's too short to wear boring clothes! So, go out there, twirl your worries away, and remember, always wear pink!

Until next Monday!

Monday’s Must-See:

Today, December 6th, is an important day! This is the first Monday of Advent. And everyone knows that the first Monday of Advent is, well… you know how it is. I can’t believe it’s that time of year already! The whole festive period makes me think about sugar plums and twirling sugar plum fairies… The Nutcracker – oh! My absolute favourite! And Christmas just isn't Christmas without some festive ballet fun. That being said… I’m going to spend a little time in this fabulous store here in Manhattan, and buy myself a stunning new pink sparkly Christmas tutu, to be worn for all my Christmas events. It's the best thing about this time of year, it's the perfect excuse to go a little bit over-the-top in the pink department!

I wonder what wonderful dance performances the Nutcracker season will offer? * Who knows, perhaps I will go to one… * Let’s stay connected, because I will update you when I book tickets!

So what did you do today? Let’s discuss! What were your favourite shows this weekend, and tell me: where is your favourite pink tutu store?
