Pink Tutu Blog: New York City - Monday 2010-12-20 - Post #811

Helloooo, darling darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, city-exploring, pink-loving Emma, back with another Monday update from the Big Apple! 🍎

This week, I'm bursting at the seams with excitement! Not just because I'm in New York, but because I've been doing what I love most – dancing! 🩰

Let's rewind a little…

A Derbyshire Girl in the City

As you all know, I hail from the beautiful county of Derbyshire, where the hills are green and the sheep graze contentedly. However, I've always been a city girl at heart. My soul craves the vibrancy of a bustling metropolis, and the allure of New York, with its iconic skyline and boundless energy, has always called to me.

After several successful performances, I saved up enough to finally make the trip. And, of course, I had to bring my lucky pink tutu – a staple of every journey and a symbol of my dream to make the world a pinker, tutu-filled place. 💖

A Subway Adventure

My first journey in the city? A ride on the legendary subway, naturally! Let me tell you, it was quite a sensory experience. I felt like I was stepping into a movie set – all flashing lights, bustling crowds, and that distinct aroma that I'd only ever experienced through the window of my computer screen.

But my journey was not without its hiccups! I had a brief moment of panic when I realised my map was outdated. Fortunately, I met the kindest man, who pointed me in the right direction – a true New York gentleman, with a smile that could light up Times Square! ✨

Tutus and Tea

I managed to find my way to a little cafe nestled amongst the towering skyscrapers. Now, my love of tutus extends to more than just dance wear – it's a philosophy! So, when I discovered a vintage shop selling a selection of charming pink teacups adorned with dancing ballerinas, I simply couldn't resist!

They now reside in my flat, making each cuppa a special moment. 🍵

Ballet Bliss

Speaking of special moments… how about the absolute dream I experienced last night at the New York City Ballet? 🌃

Oh, the magic! From the graceful leaps to the exquisitely precise footwork, I was transported to another world, captivated by the sheer artistry and beauty on display. The story told through dance was simply breathtaking, leaving me awestruck.

Afterwards, I walked home with a spring in my step (figuratively speaking, of course - my pink tutu wouldn't have allowed me to literally spring), feeling exhilarated and inspired.

The Shopping Spree

Now, what’s a trip to New York without a little shopping spree? Today, I spent a glorious few hours exploring some of the most iconic department stores. You’ll be happy to hear, there was no shortage of pink – tutus, bags, shoes, even furniture! My heart practically exploded! 💕

But what really took my breath away was a stunning couture dress made entirely from fabric roses. Oh, it was exquisite! My head is still reeling. I’m thinking about sending an email to the designer…

Pink Dreams and a Toast to New York

As I sit here writing, my fingers tapping furiously, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed by this beautiful city and its countless opportunities. New York has an electric energy that energizes me, fills me with excitement, and inspires me to reach for my dreams.

Tonight, I'll be enjoying a celebratory dinner with my dear friend Sarah, who introduced me to the joy of vintage clothes, a passion I've embraced wholeheartedly. We'll be sipping on pink cocktails, discussing all things fabulous and, of course, raising a glass to the extraordinary city of New York! 🥂

And with that, my darling darlings, it’s time for me to hit the streets of this amazing city and get ready for the week ahead!

Stay tuned for my next adventure - you never know where my pink tutu will lead me next!

Lots of love,

Emma
