Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 819 - Monday 14th February 2011 - Valentine's Day in the Big Apple!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back with another week of adventures from the dazzling, vibrant, and utterly enchanting New York City. I just know you're going to adore this post, because it's about Valentine's Day! It's a day to celebrate love, to spoil ourselves, and to, of course, don a truly dazzling pink tutu!

Pink Tutus & the Metro: A Love Affair

First things first, my journey began with a thrilling ride on the subway. I am a true metro aficionado, and I simply can't get enough of the hustle and bustle of the New York City subway system. The sounds of the city humming, the clickety-clack of the wheels on the tracks, the faces rushing past... It's electric! And let me tell you, my pink tutu caused quite a stir - a beautiful storm of colour and movement as I navigated my way through the crowds.

You see, my pink tutu isn't just a fashion statement. It's a philosophy. It's a call to action, a way of saying, "Spread a little joy, a little sunshine, a little tutu magic into the world!" The reactions I receive from people - children squealing with delight, men offering a shy smile, women taking my picture with a knowing glint in their eyes - make it all worthwhile.

A Day of Delights: Fashion Finds and Ballerina Bliss

Valentine's Day in New York City is nothing short of magical. The city practically sparkles with romance, and everyone seems a little more bubbly, a little more ready to laugh, a little more willing to indulge in some retail therapy.

After my morning subway adventures, I popped into Bloomingdale's for a spot of shopping. You know I couldn't resist a little browsing, and it wouldn't be Valentine's Day without a few new additions to my tutu collection. They had this beautiful peachy pink tulle tutu that simply had to come home with me, its frills bouncing with every step I took.

And because every girl needs a little extra sparkle for a special occasion, I also found the most perfect pair of pink diamond-encrusted ballet flats. They're like tiny works of art, each shoe an explosion of elegance and shimmer. I think it's only fitting, don't you? Matching my sparkle to the sparkling cityscape!

An Enchanting Evening at the Theatre

As the sun dipped below the horizon and the cityscape began to twirl and dance with a thousand twinkling lights, I found myself at the Gershwin Theatre. I'm completely besotted with musicals - the spectacle, the storytelling, the vibrant performances, it all captivates me. Today was extra special because I got to see the incredible "Wicked" - the music, the sets, the story… simply breathtaking!

Oh, how I wish I could bring every single one of you readers along to experience the magic with me! It truly is an experience like no other, and I found myself mesmerised, transported into a world of Oz, captivated by the tale of friendship, power, and ultimately, love.

It reminded me once again that ballet, in all its forms, is such a profound expression of the human experience. We get to see stories of love, loss, hope, and triumph unfolding on stage, bringing us joy and making us question our own journeys.

And A Love Letter To My Fellow Tutus

You see, my darlings, it's not just about ballet. It's about the power of expressing ourselves. It's about finding our inner glitter, and wearing it loud and proud! When I put on my pink tutu, I feel invincible. It empowers me to chase my dreams, to step out of my comfort zone, and to spread a little sparkle wherever I go.

And you know what? You can do it too. Every single one of you, even if it's just a touch of pink on your nails, a shimmery pink headband, or maybe a pair of those darling ballet flats like mine!

So here's to love, laughter, and a little bit of pink tutu magic! Until next Monday, darlings, be brave, be bold, and remember to let your inner sparkle shine!

Xoxo,

Emma
