Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #820 - Monday 21st February 2011: New York City is my Stage!

Greetings, my darlings! It's Monday, which means a fresh dose of pink tulle, fabulous finds, and, of course, New York City's magical energy! This week, my heart is overflowing with the joy of performing at the prestigious Metropolitan Opera House in a magnificent new production of Swan Lake. This truly is a dream come true! ๐Ÿฆข

Being a professional ballerina is hard work, but it's a journey I wouldn't trade for the world. I fund my adventures with my dancing - travelling to different cities, seeing shows, experiencing new cultures - it's the most exciting way to live!

Speaking of adventure, New York City never ceases to amaze me! From the bustling streets to the towering skyscrapers, this vibrant city feels like a fairytale waiting to unfold. ๐Ÿ™๏ธ

I must admit, a large part of the magic lies in the metro! Whizzing through the underground tunnels, observing people and their diverse styles, is a sensory delight. Imagine: a sea of bright pink and lavender tutus on the subway? I envision a future where everyone wears pink tulle - a beautiful ballet-inspired utopia! ๐Ÿ’–

A Ballerina's New York City Guide:

This week, I'm embracing the city's theatre scene. This Friday, I'm seeing "The Lion King" at the Minskoff Theatre, an experience I'm absolutely giddy for! Can you believe this spectacular show has been running for over 20 years? The costumes are iconic, the music is soul-stirring, and the whole performance is utterly captivating! ๐Ÿฆ

Of course, a trip to New York isn't complete without a little bit of retail therapy. Tomorrow, I'm diving headfirst into the charming boutiques and department stores of Greenwich Village, seeking out the latest trends for my pink tulle collection. A vibrant silk scarf, a sparkly sequin top, or perhaps a pair of whimsical, pearl-encrusted heels โ€“ I canโ€™t wait to see what treasures I unearth! ๐Ÿ‘

But let's be honest, New York City is best experienced with a tutu in hand. It's not just about the clothes, it's about the feeling - that delicate swirl of pink tulle adding a touch of magic to your every step, reminding you that even amidst the chaos, life can be a beautiful dance. โœจ

And this week, I'm dedicating this blog post to all of you lovely readers, inspiring you to wear your own pink tulle with confidence, to embrace your inner ballerina, and to twirl through life with joy and grace. So get out there, darlings! Find your own personal stage, let the music take control, and remember, a little pink tulle goes a long way! ๐Ÿ’•

Hereโ€™s a glimpse into the rest of my fabulous week:

Tuesday: - Breakfast at the Plaza Hotel. It's simply iconic and has to be on my New York City bucket list! โ˜•๏ธ - A ballet class at the Broadway Dance Center. New York is overflowing with exceptional studios, and I always try to find one to hone my technique. ๐Ÿฉฐ - Dinner at Joe's Pizza. It's legendary for a reason. This is New York City comfort food! ๐Ÿ•

Wednesday:
- Lunch with my ballerina friends from England. I miss them dearly! Itโ€™s a rare treat to catch up with fellow performers when I'm on the road! ๐Ÿฅ‚ - Afternoon of shopping on Fifth Avenue, soaking up the New York fashion vibe. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Thursday: - Visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A must-do in any fashion loverโ€™s itinerary! ๐ŸŽจ - Dinner and drinks with the company dancers at our favourite bistro in the city. This is a special tradition - each performance has a designated bistro. It's such a lovely way to celebrate and get to know everyone involved in the production!๐Ÿท

Friday: - The Lion King!! ๐Ÿฆ - Dinner after the show at an Italian restaurant on Broadway, trying a brand new pizza - New York has SO MANY to choose from, how can you resist!? ๐Ÿ•

Saturday: - Sleep in after a thrilling evening at The Lion King - itโ€™s all about that rest and recovery after a performance! ๐Ÿ˜ด - Explore the Central Park, take a walk around, have a picnic, perhaps go for a jog? Central Park truly embodies New Yorkโ€™s vibrancy. Itโ€™s hard to believe how peaceful and tranquil it is in the heart of this bustling city! ๐ŸŒฟ

Sunday: - An afternoon spent visiting friends and family at home via Skype. I am always homesick for my family, friends and beautiful Derbyshire. My heart aches for a comforting hug and a cuppa with mum. ๐Ÿต

This trip is absolutely spectacular. From the vibrant theatre scene, the legendary performances, to the extraordinary city life itself โ€“ I feel like a part of New Yorkโ€™s magic. But, despite how much I love my time in this amazing city, I'll be taking my trusty pink tutu back to England for a bit next week, because Derbyshire has a special place in my heart, too.

And remember, whether you're in the bustling metropolis of New York City or a quaint village in Derbyshire, always wear your pink tulle with confidence! ๐Ÿ’•

I canโ€™t wait to share more adventures with you next week, my lovely readers!

Always with pink tulle in my heart,

Emma
