#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2012-01-16 she danced in New York City

Hello lovelies! It’s Monday, which means it’s time for another fabulous #PinkTutuBlogNYC post. Today, I'm absolutely buzzing to be in the Big Apple, a place that truly embodies the spirit of "anything goes". And honestly? What goes better than pink tutus and this incredible city? Let's just say, this tutu-loving girl is on cloud nine!

Now, you all know I'm a huge fan of taking the metro (and a big shout-out to all those Londoners who’ve shown me the ropes!), so my adventure started with a seamless journey through the labyrinth of underground tunnels – an exciting experience all on its own, wouldn't you say? This week, my pink tulle companion is a vibrant fuchsia creation with sparkly details – a perfect reflection of this vibrant, colourful city.

I've always loved the energy and excitement New York offers – from its iconic skyscrapers and dazzling lights to the buzzing streets alive with art, fashion and delicious scents, there's a reason this city never sleeps. But for me, a ballerina at heart, the most captivating thing about New York is its world-renowned dance scene.

Today, I'm on a mission to explore the iconic New York City Ballet. I’m a huge fan of their elegant style and I'm ready for a real treat for the eyes, and possibly the biggest ballet treat of my life. From their signature Balanchine classics to innovative new pieces, the NYC Ballet has truly earned its reputation as one of the leading dance companies in the world. This is why I'm beyond excited to experience their performance for myself, with this magnificent tutu right here in the centre of it all.

What can I say? Nothing inspires a girl like an afternoon at the ballet – especially with a show that's as vibrant and thrilling as New York City Ballet. Even as I sit here in the plush red velvet seats of the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, I'm utterly captivated. The dancers are truly ethereal, gliding across the stage with grace and precision. I'm soaking up every breathtaking arabesque and flawless jeté. Honestly, you could see this performance a thousand times and never tire of its beauty.

Just imagine this – as the lights go down, the music swells, and the dancers gracefully take to the stage, a wave of excitement washes over me. Seeing these professional dancers – some even straight from The Royal Ballet School! – move with such elegance and precision really is a breathtaking experience. Their commitment to their art and their ability to tell stories with their bodies is truly inspiring. Honestly, it makes me want to dance the night away and perfect my own pirouette!

But after the ballet, you can't possibly head back to the hotel without a little retail therapy! Let’s be honest, New York is a mecca for fashionistas, with a plethora of chic boutiques and high-street havens waiting to be explored. I’m making my way straight to a gorgeous store called “Dress Code”. I've heard amazing things about it - the displays are fantastic and the selection of chic evening dresses and sophisticated outfits is unbelievable. Oh, and a pink tutu of course!

The best part? Their incredible sale section has me dreaming in designer! Seriously, it’s like a treasure trove of fantastic outfits waiting to be scooped up. Imagine a chic, pink satin skirt, a velvet statement jacket with a sartorial pink detail, and the most stylishly pink heels, all at a price I just can’t refuse. It’s an absolute treat for a tutu-loving girl like me.

The staff at “Dress Code” are so helpful. They really do make you feel welcome and help you discover the pieces you never knew you needed. In the words of Carrie Bradshaw, it’s simply "Sex and the City" fashion, right at my fingertips!

After “Dress Code”, it’s onto the famous department store, "The Dress Shop”. They're famous for their exclusive range of stunning evening gowns, which is absolutely perfect for someone about to perform with the West End Ballet. I'm dreaming of a sparkly, pink tutu-esque skirt to compliment my ballerina shoes - you just can't go wrong with that, can you?

As always, New York has some gorgeous finds, and my shopping bags are brimming with stunning outfits. I already have so many ideas about how to mix and match everything I’ve bought – I might even turn my favourite outfit into a mini-tutorial back on the #PinkTutuBlog!

Of course, no trip to New York is complete without experiencing the city's diverse theatre scene. Tonight, I’m off to catch "The Phantom of the Opera", and if you think that the New York City Ballet has me buzzing – you just wait until I see a Broadway show for the first time! The glamour, the glitz and the energy are going to be amazing! I’m so excited to catch a world-renowned show at the beautiful Majestic Theater.

There’s something truly special about being in the heart of this creative powerhouse. From the world's most celebrated performers on the stages of Broadway to the innovative young dancers captivating audiences on stages across the city, New York has become a second home for me, as it offers so much creative energy for those who are, like me, looking for inspiration. I know one thing’s for sure: I’m never leaving New York City without a smile and a few more pieces of my favourite colour: pink!

And you know, as I explore New York and try to take it all in, I can’t help but realize there’s so much more to life than just fashion, even if I do love a good shopping spree! Yes, I believe in the power of a vibrant pink tutu, and I truly believe that every woman, no matter her age or background, can embrace a bit of that fearless pink tulle. You don’t have to be a ballerina to feel like you’re wearing a beautiful pink tutu and dancing through life. I mean, just look at how the city inspires so many to unleash their inner creativity. From street artists to independent boutiques and all those people rocking their own signature styles on the streets. Isn’t it just fabulous?

I really do want to empower all of you to embrace life in a way that fills you with joy! Do whatever you feel your heart calls for! Because honestly, isn’t life meant to be filled with joy and excitement – a dance through the vibrant kaleidoscope of the world? Just like that moment you realize you are in New York, you suddenly find a confidence you didn’t know you had. That’s why I’m so proud of all of you, my #PinkTutuTribe – you are the true stars of the world! So embrace the pink tulle life! Live, laugh and don’t be afraid to dance your way through life in your own beautiful pink way!
