Hello my darlings! Happy New Year, and a very belated Merry Christmas! I'm back from my whirlwind trip to New York City, and oh, let me tell you, it was fabulous. I'm feeling absolutely buzzing after the most magical New Year's Eve in the Big Apple!
You know I love a good dose of glitter and sparkle, and New York was the perfect place to welcome 2013 in style. The city was abuzz with excitement – decorations shimmering, lights twinkling, and everywhere you looked, the feeling was pure festive joy. This city just knows how to party!
And wouldn't you know it, I managed to squeeze in so much fun during my trip.
New York, New York – On a Magical Metro Journey
My journey started right at Heathrow Airport. As soon as I stepped onto that plane, I knew this was going to be special. There was such a sense of anticipation in the air, as if everyone was holding their breath for the big city adventure that lay ahead.
Speaking of which, let's talk about my love affair with the New York subway. Oh, the thrill of zooming through the city underground in those beautiful old carriages – a vintage charm, but with a touch of chic! The tunnels are a complete sensory experience – all the vibrant colours, the fascinating sounds, the incredible mix of people. Even the advertisements – so glamorous, so captivating – it's truly an experience you have to live to understand!
The Metropolitan Opera, A Glittering Premiere
One of my favourite highlights was attending a premiere performance at the Metropolitan Opera. Now, the Metropolitan Opera – a building that literally exudes grandeur. It was absolutely breathtaking. The soaring arches, the chandeliers glittering, the plush red velvet seating. Oh, and the performance itself was truly phenomenal – a whirlwind of emotions and captivating music that left me wanting more!
Of course, no opera visit would be complete without a new dress. I just had to find the perfect pink number, didn't I? It had to be elegant, of course, with a hint of vintage Hollywood glamour, a touch of drama and lots and lots of sparkle! Thankfully, I found my dream dress – an elegant soft pink chiffon creation.
Shopping Spree at Bloomingdale's
But the fashion extravaganza didn't stop there. The next day, it was off to Bloomingdale's! I love that shop. It's like a temple to glamour and style. Imagine: racks overflowing with designer goodies, shoe heaven, stunning accessories…and, of course, a fabulously glittery makeup counter. It's practically impossible to leave without at least one new item!
And speaking of “at least one,” let me tell you, I didn’t just leave Bloomingdale’s with one item; it was a full-fledged shopping spree. Let’s just say there's a beautiful midnight blue lace evening dress and a pair of pink high heels, ready to be styled for my next London ball.
Broadway Baby - A Glittering Ballet
Now, every visit to New York needs a trip to Broadway. The dazzling lights, the vibrant energy, the sheer spectacle of it all! And speaking of spectacular, I was fortunate to catch a performance of "An American in Paris." Oh, the dancing was exquisite! Such effortless elegance, stunning costumes, a beautiful love story... It made me feel like I was gliding through a movie!
And, you guessed it, I went on a shopping spree afterward too! I had to add a touch of New York to my tutu collection, so I picked up a gorgeous silver sequin tutu - perfect for adding a dash of sparkle to any dance floor.
Celebrating the New Year - A Party with a View
But the true magic happened on New Year's Eve itself! It's been so long since I’ve done a proper New York Eve countdown! The lights, the atmosphere, the anticipation – the whole city held its breath in one united sigh, waiting for the clock to strike twelve!
This time around, I decided to celebrate New York’s best-known rooftop venue, the “230 Fifth” for a breath-taking, panoramic view of the city. Imagine the shimmering skyline as the midnight fireworks lit up the sky.
Let me tell you, it was incredible! I danced the night away in my gorgeous pink tutu, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world! To celebrate the coming year, I've got an absolutely massive, gorgeous, sequined tutu coming my way, designed especially for my first “Pink Tutu NYC” party. (Oh my goodness! Just thinking about the party gets me thrilled – stay tuned! More on that coming soon…)
Time to Take a Bow!
But for now, I’m heading back to London. My suitcases are crammed with exciting new discoveries - from my fabulously sparkly new sequin tutu to a new pair of sparkling ruby red shoes.
