Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #933 - Dancing Dreams in the City That Never Sleeps!

Hello my darling Tutu Tribe! It's Emma here, and it's Monday, so you know what that means... another Pink Tutu Blog post is twirling its way into your inbox!

This week I'm writing to you from the most magical city in the world - New York, New York! I landed last Thursday, and honestly, I feel like I haven't stopped dancing since. I just love the energy here. It's like the city itself is pulsating with life, with every corner offering a new adventure and every face full of the promise of new discoveries.

Now, if you know me, you know that Iā€™m a girly girl at heart, and that means pink is my go-to colour. So of course, my suitcases were overflowing with the most fabulous pink tutus, perfect for exploring this incredible city. Every outfit has been carefully curated, a whirlwind of femininity and pink tulle, and Iā€™ve already gotten some rather surprised but approving looks. (Iā€™m always up for a challenge, and who says you canā€™t wear a tutu on a stroll through Central Park? My response? Tutu much! šŸ˜‰)

And speaking of adventures...

Dancing My Way Through Manhattan

I had to squeeze in some ballet time, of course! Friday afternoon was a whirlwind of tutus, barre work, and pirouettes in a class at Steps on Broadway. The energy there is phenomenal, and it was simply inspiring to be in a room filled with so many dancers all working towards their passion. If youā€™re a dancer, or even just curious about the art form, Steps on Broadway is a must-visit when youā€™re in New York. Youā€™ll meet some of the friendliest faces in the dance world.

Now, let's talk Broadway, the Mecca of all theatre! I've seen Wicked every time I've been to New York (can you blame me, it's simply stunning!), and I adore Phantom of the Opera, but this time, I was feeling something different, and I had a chance to see Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre! If you havenā€™t seen it yet, do! Itā€™s dazzling and the dance numbers are so witty and so well choreographed. I was so mesmerized I almost forgot to take pictures for the blog.

And guess what? I was even lucky enough to catch a ballet performance by American Ballet Theatre. They were dancing ā€œDon Quixoteā€, a true ballet classic! The grace and artistry of the dancers was truly breathtaking. I couldn't help but feel completely swept away. Seeing such talent in action truly inspires me, reminding me why I started this journey.

Fashionable Delights

No trip to New York is complete without a shopping spree, is it? My wardrobe needed a few New York City updates, and trust me, the pink tutus didnā€™t go unnoticed on my shopping expeditions. Honestly, the best part of it all? All the delightful compliments I got! Some shops even complimented my tutu choices. That's my aim in life ā€“ getting everyone to embrace the pink tutu!

The shopping has been divine, with incredible boutiques around every corner, full of delightful delights. We're talking designer gowns and luxurious handbags, and of course, the pink tutus got their own dedicated shopping trip to a few select stores, making sure every single outfit I bring back has the right amount of tulle to bring the twirls and the happy!

I'm in love with the iconic shops - Tiffany & Co., Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and of course, Bergdorf Goodman! If you haven't seen their window displays, you really must!

Oh, and Iā€™m never one to forget about finding fabulous vintage pieces! There are some really fantastic vintage shops hidden away in New York - just wait until you see my Instagram pics! I found an adorable little hat, perfect for a chic, Parisian picnic with some scones! (Oh, the English girl in me simply cannot let go of a love for afternoon tea!)

Living the Life

Oh, and how about this beautiful weather we're having? Honestly, I haven't stopped grinning. Iā€™ve been walking everywhere, soaking up the city vibes. And of course, riding the subway in my tutus has been such a hoot. You canā€™t really wear a tutu and blend in on the subway! Honestly, the New Yorkers are fantastic. They love a good outfit, especially one that stands out. Youā€™d be surprised at the number of people that smiled or made a friendly comment. My personal favourite was an older gentleman who stopped me on the platform to ask, ā€œWhat a wonderful skirt you have!" It really made my day.

New York City is a feast for the senses - the sights, sounds, and aromas! My favourites so far include strolling down Fifth Avenue with a classic hotdog in hand, savoring the bustling energy of Times Square, and gazing out across the stunning Manhattan skyline from the top of the Empire State Building! (I might have twirled for a little bit at the topā€¦ and even snapped a photo, just to share with you!)

You really never know what adventures youā€™ll find around every corner here! Honestly, I wouldnā€™t trade it for the world. Iā€™ve met the most wonderful people on my journey, shared some laughs, and made memories that Iā€™ll cherish forever.

And as for my next New York adventures, you just have to stay tunedā€¦

Love,

Emma xo
