Pink Tutu Blog NYC #939: Dancing in the Big Apple

Hello lovelies! It's Monday again, and you know what that means – time for a fresh dose of pink-tastic adventures from your favourite tutu-wearing traveller! This week, I've landed in the Big Apple itself – New York City! I'm bursting with excitement, darling, and there's so much to tell you. Let's dive right in, shall we?

A Derbyshire Girl in the City that Never Sleeps

New York, you've captured my heart already! This city is a whirlwind of energy and glamour, just the kind of vibe that makes me want to twirl! My journey began, as usual, at Heathrow Airport, but instead of the familiar Derbyshire hills, I was met with towering skyscrapers.

Getting around this concrete jungle has been a joy – I love whizzing around on the subway, people watching and admiring the diverse crowds. I swear, everyone looks so stylish in New York! From sleek businessmen to boho-chic art students, this city really has it all.

Fashion Finds in the Big Apple

Oh my, the shopping! My first stop was, naturally, Fifth Avenue, where I explored the glossy windows of designer boutiques and even found a gorgeous vintage tutu shop! It's definitely given me some inspiration for a new pink creation or two. And, my darling, the window displays are absolutely divine! I must confess I’ve already treated myself to a new pair of shoes (pink, of course!) and a fluffy pink faux fur coat.

A Night at the Ballet

But let's not forget why I'm here, darling. My ultimate reason for travelling is to see beautiful ballet! I managed to grab tickets to a show at the New York City Ballet, and oh my, I was speechless. The dancers were just phenomenal, so graceful and strong, and the whole experience was just magical.

It reminded me of my very first performance as a ballerina – that nerve-wracking feeling of stepping onto the stage, the hush of the audience, and then… that incredible feeling of flight! The costumes, the set design, and the music – everything was absolutely stunning.

Pink Tutu on Broadway

I'm so glad I’m finally in the city where the theatre truly shines! I spent last night on Broadway, where I saw an incredible production of Les Misérables. I’ve always loved this musical, and seeing it live, in that incredible atmosphere, just took my breath away!

Pink Tutu Goes Out on the Town

After the show, we popped into this little speakeasy-style bar near Times Square for a cheeky pink gin cocktail – because who can resist a bit of pink fun, even in the middle of Manhattan, right?

Pink Tutu Takes Manhattan

I had such a delightful time taking in all the sights and sounds. Central Park, oh my! It felt like a peaceful oasis in the bustling city. I strolled around, enjoying the sunshine, the fresh air, and the chirping birds – it really is such a beautiful park. I took a picnic lunch of croissants and pink lemonade (it’s practically a lifestyle, darling) and had the best view of the skyscrapers in the background.

Pink Tutu Dreams

Honestly, New York City has really exceeded my expectations. It's just so vibrant and alive. I can see why it's nicknamed the city that never sleeps! I've had such fun meeting new people, exploring hidden corners, and seeing fantastic performances.

I'm already starting to plan my next adventure! Where should I go next? Paris, maybe? Or maybe I'll head further afield. I haven't decided yet, but one thing’s for sure, you’ll hear all about it right here on Pink Tutu Blog NYC.

Until next week, my darlings!

Love,

Emma x

Today's Happenings:

  • Today's my day for a quick spot of retail therapy at one of New York's favourite independent boutiques. They’ve got a fabulous collection of vintage clothing and accessories, and I’ve heard rumour of some unique tutus, too!
  • I’m catching an open-air ballet performance this afternoon – can’t resist some free outdoor art! I can't wait to see what incredible dancing the city has in store for me.
  • Dinner tonight is a rooftop dining experience with the most spectacular view of the city – so looking forward to it!
