Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #940: New York, New York - Monday 10th June, 2013
Hello my dearest tutu lovers! 🩰 It's Emma here, your favourite pink-obsessed, tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, and I'm finally back in the Big Apple, writing to you live from the bustling streets of New York City! 🗽
This week's adventure started, as always, with a hop on the iconic New York City Metro. You just can't beat the vibrant atmosphere of those underground tunnels. Everyone's in a rush, heading somewhere, and yet, it's also filled with that unique New York buzz of anticipation.
Speaking of buzz, have I got a show for you all! This past Saturday, I saw a mesmerising performance at the Metropolitan Opera House! 🎶 I always find something captivating about the grandeur of the Met - all those red velvet seats and the rich chandeliers…it just adds an extra layer of excitement to the already magical experience of ballet.
And this show, my darlings, was simply unforgettable. The choreography was so creative, the dancers were phenomenal, and it was as if the entire room was alive with the music. The story unfolded through their graceful movements and powerful expressions – truly a breathtaking experience.
You see, it's these moments, watching other ballerinas express themselves with their bodies, that remind me of my own passion for dance. It fuels me, pushes me, inspires me. It's a constant reminder why I wear this tutu with such pride. ✨
Of course, I wouldn't be a true New Yorker if I hadn't hit the shops after the show. 😉 My latest finds are these adorable cherry-pink ballet flats - absolutely perfect for flitting around the city. And I also picked up a stunning rose-gold necklace that I'm going to wear to the next show I'm performing in…you guessed it - more ballet! 💖
As always, funding my travels requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Every time I get the opportunity to share my passion for dance, to make audiences gasp and smile, it's all worth it. It fuels my travel bug and keeps me in this fabulous city.
I'm going to leave you all with this, darling readers: If you see me around the city, don't be afraid to say hello. My pink tutu might stand out a bit, but it's always a delight to chat with fellow dancers and lovers of the arts.
Until next time, stay fabulous and keep twirling!
Emma xoxo

Today's Date
I’m posting this on Monday 10th June 2013, a very sunny, busy day here in NYC. This city truly comes alive during the summer months. There's so much going on, from street performers to free outdoor concerts. Just today I caught a flash mob at Times Square! Can you imagine? It was a truly beautiful spectacle of music, dance, and unexpected artistry – truly embodying the vibrancy and magic of New York City.
Today's Inspiration:
I'm feeling extra inspired today, fueled by the beauty of the ballet I saw and the joyous spirit of the flash mob. I think I'll spend the afternoon trying out some new choreographed routines in my favorite pink tutu - it's time for some dancing, dancing, dancing! 💃
Looking back
It's interesting to look back on my posts, see the way my New York adventure is unfolding. It feels like such a whirlwind! I'm already thinking about where I'm going to perform next. Maybe Boston, or maybe even further afield! I love the adventure, I love meeting new people and experiencing new places, and most of all I love spreading the joy of dancing to everyone I meet.
Derbyshire Girl
Although my heart belongs to this vibrant city now, I can never forget where I come from. Derbyshire will always hold a special place in my heart. Those green hills, that sense of community, and the memories of the countryside... that's my home, and I wouldn't be who I am without those roots. So even when I'm flitting around New York in my pink tutu, I carry a little bit of Derbyshire with me.
Wearing Pink:
The tutu. It's my constant, my companion, my shield, my statement. It's a way to express myself without words, to tell the world, “Look at me, I love to dance!” I can honestly say, wearing a tutu, whether it's pink, or any other color, has changed my life. It has helped me connect with people in ways I never thought possible, open up a whole new world, and feel more confident, happy, and true to myself.
Wearing a Pink Tutu – a Challenge!
Now, as many of you know, it’s not just my personal style, my passion - it’s a mission. My ultimate dream is to have everyone in the world wear a pink tutu for at least one day! It may seem silly, maybe even a bit out there, but think about it! Wearing a pink tutu means…
- You’re being brave and trying something new.
- You’re expressing yourself with a smile.
- You’re creating a sense of playful energy.
- You’re showing the world that you're not afraid to be yourself, to be joyful and whimsical!*
Imagine, if even just for one day, the whole world went pink, not with the colour itself, but with the sentiment. The feeling of lightness and happiness and unity that would radiate from it. Can you imagine how the world would feel?
I think it would be pretty magical, don’t you?
Well, let's spread the love.
Join me.
One Pink Tutu at a time. Let's bring the world some extra magic, shall we? 🩰
Keep on twirling, my lovelies! 💖
