Hello darlings! 👋 It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, back from a whirlwind weekend in the Big Apple! 🗽🍎 Just when I thought my little corner of Derbyshire couldn’t get any more pink, I found myself completely surrounded by the most glorious shades of blush, fuschia, and rose in the heart of New York City! ✨
From London to NYC 🚄
My journey started with a zippy train ride from my quaint Derbyshire home down to London. The journey always feels magical, with a sense of adventure and anticipation in the air. I always have a special pink notebook where I jot down my musings, fashion plans, and dream-ballet choreography. This time, my notebook was filled with plans for the ultimate New York pink adventure.
As soon as I stepped onto the platform at Euston station, the smell of London was intoxicating! Freshly baked bread and the distant perfume of roses - oh, the things a girl can smell in this bustling city. The journey itself felt like a performance, every face a story waiting to be unfolded. 🎭
New York here I come! 🗽
The moment I landed in New York City, I knew it was going to be magical. The taxi cab dropped me off at the iconic pink building with the "W" emblazoned across it (for those who know me, you’ll understand that I’m completely infatuated with this hotel - a perfect symphony of pink!) It was an absolutely perfect first stop for my pink journey, my senses swimming in a delicious sensory overload of glitz and glamour. 💅✨
Pink Power in New York 🩰
To start the day off on a fabulously pink foot, I joined the ballet class at The Dance Studio NYC, the pinkest studio in all of New York (well, I definitely felt it was the pinkest!) with my trusty tutu, a symbol of the graceful power of feminine energy, swirling around my feet as I moved with grace and elegance. 💖
The studio itself was bathed in an ethereal, soft pink glow. As I slipped on my pink ballet slippers, my heart skipped a beat! My favourite ballet teacher was a New York ballerina herself, with stories that unfolded with every plié and pirouette. The studio buzzed with energy – seasoned ballerinas, aspiring dancers, and everyone in between. We flowed together, moving as one with every flick of the wrist and leap into the air.
Pink City Vibes 🏙️
After my class, it was time to hit the streets of New York, embracing the city’s iconic vibrancy. New York City feels alive with the pulsating energy of life! People rush around in a delightful chaos. The rhythm of life beats on like a thrilling crescendo. I found myself in the iconic Chelsea neighbourhood, exploring boutiques with my best friend (and shopping companion) Tilly. 🛍️
Oh my! The clothes in Chelsea are phenomenal. The shops were filled with incredible pieces – silky blush satins, elegant fuchsia silks, and everything rose-coloured you can imagine! I confess, my heart did a little skip as I fell head over heels for a delightful, fluffy, blush pink skirt that was just begging to twirl under a glorious Manhattan sky. And it twirl, it did! 💖
A Broadway Dream ✨
My New York adventure was far from over. As night fell, I was thrilled to experience the magic of Broadway! For a girly-girl like me, there’s no place more delightful than Broadway. Tonight, we saw the spectacular musical "Hamilton." A true masterclass of music, acting, and theatre. I even had the chance to twirl backstage afterwards with the show’s phenomenal costume designer, who had a penchant for a soft pink satin… 😉
Food, Fashion, and Ballet - A Perfect Trio! 🍲💃
I simply cannot let the weekend end without highlighting the fabulousness of the food and fashion scene. For breakfast, I indulged in a delightful (and ridiculously pink) stack of pancakes at the infamous Magnolia Bakery. 🥞🧁 Then it was a short walk over to the Lower East Side for some seriously stylish shopping and window displays - oh, the dresses, the shoes, the hats... 👒
After all the excitement, I found myself drawn to the breathtaking beauty of Central Park. Its green heart is a peaceful haven within the vibrant city. 🌳 And, you can guess it - my pink tutu took centre stage, twirling amidst the rolling greenery! I couldn’t resist posing for photos under the setting sun!
The most exciting event of my trip happened to be a benefit performance for the American Ballet Theatre at Lincoln Center. My love for ballet transcends any boundary, especially in a city as passionate about dance as New York. Seeing the performance, a symphony of skill, emotion, and art, was an awe-inspiring experience that reinforced my belief that life’s greatest treasures are discovered through the pursuit of our dreams and passion. 🩰
Onwards, To More Adventures 💖
The Big Apple certainly lived up to its reputation – bustling, vibrant, and utterly enchanting. Every street corner held a new surprise, every encounter a potential for wonder. And through it all, my trusty pink tutu was my faithful companion.
You can see, darlings, this city is full of magic and inspiration. I'm heading back to Derbyshire tomorrow, but with a heart filled with New York’s sparkle, a head full of pinky ideas, and the dream of returning to this magnificent city very, very soon! 💖
