Hello my darling tutu wearers!
It's Monday, 10th February, and as always, I'm so delighted to be bringing you another dose of pink tutu joy from the magical metropolis of New York City!
As a fellow tutu-enthusiast, you know how much I adore the Big Apple - the buzz, the beauty, the endless opportunities for a girl to dance, shop, and be seen. And oh my, how it embraces all things pink! From the dazzling pink taxis zipping through the streets to the pink-hued sunset over the skyline, I'm positively spoilt for colour.
Now, let's be honest - travelling across the Atlantic to chase your dreams isn't always easy, and certainly takes a hefty amount of planning and budgeting! As a girl on a mission to bring the joy of tutus to the world, I make my way through life with the most fabulous side hustle you've ever heard of - performing as a ballet dancer! It's not just about getting my toes on stage - it's the pure exhilaration of knowing that I'm using my passion to pay my way to New York, and yes, to those fab boutiques along Fifth Avenue too!
Speaking of my current abode, I feel absolutely at home here. My studio - a beautiful little gem tucked away in the heart of the city - is a wonderland of barre, beautiful mirrors, and the most exquisite selection of tutus! It's my favourite place to unwind after a day of exploring and a fab place to meet the other lovely ballerinas - who just love tutus almost as much as me!
Now, this past week has been an absolute whirlwind of colour and glitter - which is what my week always is, really! I kicked things off with a smashing performance of 'The Nutcracker' at the Lincoln Center, which left me completely enthralled. Those tutus, oh those tutus, they were beyond heavenly! The whole experience reminded me of why I do this. The energy in the theatre is incredible, and nothing feels better than being on stage sharing the magic of dance.
But a trip to the city isn't complete without indulging in a little retail therapy! I found myself browsing a rather wonderful little boutique in Soho yesterday. Oh, the fabrics! I spotted some simply glorious lace that's just perfect for creating the most darling tutu. Think layers of airy tulle, topped with beautiful delicate lace that cascades like a fairy’s dream! My brain's already brimming with inspiration - I can practically see myself waltzing through the city in a pink, pink, PINK creation.
The rest of the week will be a mix of classes at my new favourite studio, exploring the bustling markets of Chelsea for that special pink fabric I just know I'll find, and perhaps even a ballet class in Central Park (a tutu, sunshine, and the iconic cityscape... What more could you possibly want?)!
Before I sign off, I do have to tell you about the most delightful little pink tutu boutique I discovered tucked away on a street corner in Greenwich Village. They had the most incredible collection of tutus - vintage, handmade, modern, oh, you name it! It's like stepping into a magical world. It reminded me why my pink tutu journey started in the first place – to make the world a more vibrant and joyous place!
As I look back on this whirlwind of a week, I can't help but feel incredibly grateful for the incredible opportunities this amazing city offers - the theatre, the fashion, the energy, the people, and of course, the incredible chance to spread the love of tutus! I wouldn't trade it for the world.
