Pink Tutu Blog NYC #981: A Ballerina's Dream Come True in the Big Apple

Hello darlings! It's Monday again, and I'm back from a whirlwind weekend in the incredible, magnificent, magical New York City! Oh my goodness, this city is a dancer's paradise – I can't believe it took me this long to visit!

You all know my passion – pink, tutus, and ballet. I was bursting with excitement to combine all three in the Big Apple, and I have to say, it truly exceeded every single expectation!

This trip was fuelled by a special engagement – I performed at the gorgeous Joyce Theatre on Saturday night! A tiny bit of a whirlwind to get here (that whole travelling across the pond thing can be quite tiring!), but it was totally worth it. My fellow dancers and I gave our hearts and souls to the performance, and I felt that special sense of joy only a performer can truly understand. We had an amazing time, and the audience loved the show!

Of course, performing was only part of the magic. New York City is a playground for any ballerina, and I soaked it all up. From the iconic streets and breathtaking architecture, to the incredible energy and captivating fashion, I felt like a fairytale princess wandering a fantastical land!

First Stop: Fashion Frenzy

We can't talk about New York City without a little bit of shopping, right? My dear friend Penelope, a fashion blogger who writes about the "vintage chic" style, and I headed straight for the heart of Manhattan. A quick tube ride later (I must admit, riding the subway in my pink tutu did raise a few eyebrows and a few smiles!), we found ourselves amidst a veritable paradise of shops.

First, a stop at Bergdorf Goodman. This legendary department store has everything a fashionista could ever desire. From the latest designer creations to a glorious collection of exquisite shoes, I almost lost my head amongst the exquisite gowns, sparkly jewelry, and shimmering bags. Oh, how I dream of filling my wardrobe with such stylish treasures!

Next, a visit to Barney's New York was a must. It's simply impossible to leave New York City without having at least a peek at the fashion on display here. The windows alone are an art exhibition! While Penelope went gaga over the latest Dior handbag, my eye was caught by the beautiful ballet flats displayed at the back of the shop. Oh, the temptation to add a new pair of dance shoes to my collection!

After our shopping spree, a well-deserved treat – an afternoon tea at The Russian Tea Room. It felt so decadent sipping tea amidst all that historical opulence, wearing my delicate, rose pink tutu, with its fluffy layers of tulle. And the treats? Let's just say my sweet tooth was completely satiated.

The Magic of the Stage

My favourite moment? Catching the spectacular "Swan Lake" at Lincoln Center. To see the artistry, skill, and sheer grace of the dancers in person is something truly special. I left the performance with goosebumps, tears in my eyes, and my heart overflowing with passion.

Walking through Times Square afterwards, a sea of dazzling lights reflecting off the streets, my heart soared with inspiration. To think that so much talent and dedication is happening right here in New York, a vibrant tapestry of creativity and passion…it's utterly incredible!

The whole experience was exhilarating, and it's got me yearning for more ballet. In fact, I'm going to a ballet class tomorrow morning – hopefully, my legs won't be too sore!

Embrace Your Inner Tutu

New York City is a melting pot of individuality. Everyone has a story, a unique expression of their style, their passion. My visit inspired me even more to embrace who I am, to be fearless in pursuing my passion for dance and style, and to spread that magic across the globe. I want everyone to embrace the playful spirit of a pink tutu – a symbol of freedom, expression, and endless possibility!

Now, let's talk about my favourite outfit from this weekend:

Sunday Funday in a Pink Paradise

To start off Sunday, we had a fabulous brunch at The Bagel Shop. Everything was so fresh and delicious, with my favourite - an avocado and salmon bagel with a side of perfectly-made pancakes (you can't visit New York without having a classic American pancake stack, can you?). After brunch, we strolled through Central Park. This iconic green space is a masterpiece! Picture-perfect for strolling with a picnic basket and a pink tutu, of course! I wore a beautiful blush pink tutu, with delicate sequins that glittered in the afternoon sunshine, perfectly complimenting the beautiful trees.

The evening saw us at the Broadway theatre! Oh, the magic of seeing a show like "Phantom of the Opera"! The whole theatre experience was stunning! As I stepped out of the theater, feeling exhilarated and joyful, my tutu swished beautifully in the evening air, adding a touch of whimsicality to the magic of Broadway.

I know what you're thinking. But the great thing about tutus is that they are so versatile, they can be worn just about anywhere! Whether you're at the ballet, at brunch, or simply running errands, a pink tutu is guaranteed to bring a little joy and sunshine to your day.

*And speaking of joy… *

A tiny shop near our hotel called “Little Ballerinas” has completely captivated my attention. I popped in during my trip, and, darling, let's just say I came home with an entire shopping bag filled with the most beautiful ballet accessories imaginable! From sparkly headbands and tutu clips to elegant dance shoes and adorable ballet bags, I am truly spoiled for choice! I plan to share some of my new treasures in next week's blog post, so keep your eyes peeled for some amazing dance wear finds!

This weekend has truly filled my heart with magic. I hope I've inspired you all to chase your dreams, no matter how big or small, and to always embrace your unique style.

Until next week, stay radiant and keep twirling!

Love,

Emma xxx
