Pink Tutu Blog: NYC Adventures - Post #982

Monday, March 31st, 2014

Hello, my darling readers!

How are you all? Did you have a lovely weekend? I know I did! I'm finally back in the Big Apple after a whirlwind weekend performing in London. Oh, London… how I missed you. It was a delightful trip, full of tutus, twirls and even some scrumptious afternoon tea at The Ritz (all for a good cause, of course!). But you know me – nothing compares to the electrifying energy of New York City.

And just like that, here I am, back in my favourite pink tutu, the very same one that adorned my stage in London, now twirling through the streets of Manhattan. It's Monday, the start of a fresh week, and my heart is bubbling with the excitement of exploring all that this amazing city has to offer. I feel so at home here, amongst the concrete jungle and towering skyscrapers, each with a story to tell.

Speaking of stories, where do I begin with this past week? Let me tell you…it's been a whirlwind of tutus, fashion and an enchanting ballet show that has left me with a truly happy heart.

Let's Talk Fashion, Shall We?

My travels wouldn't be complete without a visit to the glorious haven of Fifth Avenue. I adore the dazzling shopfronts, bursting with colourful displays of exquisite fabrics and fabulous shoes. It’s just the most magnificent spectacle for the eyes. You simply cannot help but be drawn in, to the tempting allure of haute couture, ready-to-wear creations and of course, those beautiful accessories that always manage to catch my attention!

On a recent trip to a little vintage store just off Broadway, I came across the most extraordinary pair of silver dancing shoes! They're perfect for the vintage performance I’m gearing up for in the next few weeks, a little production based on the story of the 1920s Flappers. I know you're all probably imagining me in a glitzy pink sequin tutu with these dazzling silver shoes… and oh, wouldn't that be just heavenly!

The Enchantment of Ballet

The pinnacle of my weekend was undoubtedly the exquisite performance by the New York City Ballet at the Lincoln Center. It was simply breathtaking, an enchanting blend of graceful movements and breathtaking choreography. You know me, I always find myself lost in the intricate steps and the magical stories they weave. It’s such a beautiful escape, a world of pure beauty and artistic expression. I almost wanted to rush on stage and join in, although I probably would have looked a little out of place in my sparkly pink tutu – just imagine, my darlings, the sheer audacity!

But seriously, the sheer beauty and passion displayed in those performances, coupled with the vibrant atmosphere of the theatre, left me feeling truly inspired. And trust me, there's nothing better than experiencing a live ballet show - the electricity in the air is intoxicating!

Taking to the Subway - A New York Tradition

No trip to NYC would be complete without a journey on the legendary New York Subway! It’s a world of its own, bustling with people of all backgrounds, each with their own stories. I’m not gonna lie, it can get a little hectic, especially during rush hour, but it's all part of the experience. It truly is a microcosm of New York City.

But remember, no matter where you are or what you're doing, never lose sight of the joy of wearing a pink tutu. You know how much I love them, and let me tell you, you can rock one anywhere. This little piece of fabric adds a touch of whimsy and sparkle to even the dullest of days. Embrace the pink, embrace the twirl and most importantly, embrace your inner ballerina, my darlings.

So, whether you’re dancing in a fancy ballroom or gliding through the busy streets of NYC, remember: a pink tutu is the key to happiness and you'll look fabulous.

Stay tuned for my next blog post next Monday where I’ll be sharing some more of my exciting NYC adventures and my latest fashion finds.

Until then, stay twirling!

Yours Truly,

Emma x
